Pamela “Pam” Lanzotti, 78, of Taylorville, IL passed away on Wednesday July 9, 2025 at her home with family by her side. She was born in Taylorville, IL to Eugene and Babe Wilson of Bulpitt, IL on August 2, 1946.
On August 21, 1965, Pam married Frank Lanzotti Jr. of Taylorville. She was the mother of three children. Pam was proceeded in death by her parents. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Leanne Lanzotti of Springfield, IL, Anthony Lanzotti of Springfield, IL and Andrew Lanzotti of Chicago, IL; grandchildren: Brandon, Aidan and Gabriella Urbina of Springfield, IL; her sister: Gayla Moliske of Taylorville, IL; as well as four nieces and two nephews.
Pam attended and graduated from Kincaid schools and went on to attend Springfield College in Illinois. She graduated from Millikin University in 1971 alongside her husband. With a bachelor’s degree in English, she earned Magna Cum Laude honors.
Pam taught at local private and public schools and finished her 30-year teaching career as the junior year English teacher at Taylorville High School. After retiring from teaching, she worked as a Probation Officer for Christian County. Over the years, Pam also sold real estate and sold her writing to greeting card companies.
Among her creative endeavors, Pam directed Taylorville High School’s drama and musical plays for two years. In addition to a Sherlock Holmes short story unit, she also organized a scavenger hunt that had students find clues at locations throughout Taylorville. Pam helped her colleagues by serving as a member of St. Mary’s Parish Council as well as serving as President and Head Negotiator for the Taylorville Education Association.
Pam was an avid reader. She and her husband loved their dogs and enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales. Pam dedicated most of her free time to her family and lifelong friends.
A graveside service for family will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 2pm with Father John Burnette of St. Mary’s Church officiating.
McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s School where she taught at the beginning of her career.
