Betty E. Allen, 89 of Taylorville, passed away on August 15, 2025, at Taylorville Care Center.  She was born on August 16, 1935, in Cornland, the daughter of Ralph E. and Doris (Walker) Buckles.  She married Loren Allen on July 23, 1955, in Taylorville, and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2005.  Betty worked as a manager of retirement facilities for the Holiday Retirement Corporation and was a member of the Taylorville First United Methodist Church.  She graduated from the American Institute of Healthcare Administrators.  She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and country music. 

She is survived by her children: Peggy Epley (Steve) of Taylorville, Larry Allen of Viera, Florida, and Susan Tapp of Taylorville; grandchildren: Jessica McMillon (Kevin) of Taylorville, Kathryn Tremain (Randy) of Taylorville, Jenny Gibson (Tim) of Pana, Jacquelyn Passoni (Marcus) of Springfield, Ryan Tapp of Taylorville, Jacob Allen of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Preston Allen of Viera, Florida, and Melody Bertrand (Terry) of Jennings, Louisiana; great grandchildren: Loren Paul Vocks, Abigail Vocks, Jeremiah Vocks, Irene Tremain, Emma Campbell, Madelyn McMillon, and Jayce McMillon; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother: Richard Buckles; sister: Joann Jones; son-in-law: James Tapp; and granddaughter: Melissa Tapp.

Mrs. Allen will be cremated, and a memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Pastor Brennan Hurley officiating.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
