Alberta Marie Lanzotti DiPietro

Alberta Marie Lanzotti DiPietro of Taylorville, better known as Cheta, passed away on August 17, 2025. She was born October 29, 1937, in Taylorville, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Seward) Lanzotti. She grew up in their restaurant, The One Mile Inn. At three weeks old she cut her first tooth and was pictured with her mother in the State Journal Register newspaper.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She graduated from St. Mary’s School in 1951 and from Taylorville High School with the Class of 1955. She studied at Bradley University before beginning her career at First Trust Bank where she started as a teller and retired as an officer.

Cheta loved bowling, playing bridge, gardening, sewing and quilting, lunch at Rene’s, and wine with her friends.

She married G. A. “Tony” DiPietro in 1976. They enjoyed nearly 30 years of marriage before his death in 2005. Together they raised their daughters Cathy Horton Robertson (Darrell) and Julie Lilly (Sean Fairclough) of Taylorville. Cheta is survived by their daughters; grandchildren Aaron Robertson (Kaysi Vice) and Leah Robertson all of Springfield; Dyllan (Jaimie) Williams of Jacksonville, FL; Anna Robertson of Phoenix, AZ; Grifin Lilly of Bloomington, IL; and Nathan Robertson of Nokomis; great-grandchildren Miles Miller of Springfield, IL, and Ellie and Theo Williams of Jacksonville, FL; brothers Frank Lanzotti, Jr., of Taylorville and Vic (Kathy) Lanzotti of Springfield; sisters-in-law Pam DiPietro of Cave Creek, AZ, and Peggy DiPietro of Buffalo Grove, IL; dear cousin and THS classmate Robert Lanzotti of Greensboro, GA; and many more cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; brother John Lanzotti; infant brothers Terry and James Lanzotti; and sister-in-law Pam Lanzotti.

The family sincerely thanks the staff at Hands of God Hospice, Carriage Crossing, and High Point Residence in Taylorville for the loving care Alberta received.

A funeral service for Cheta will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Fr. John Burnette officiating.  The visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Saturday and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
