It is with profound sadness that we announce Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Dyer, 46 went to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, August 16, 2025, after a long fight with Lupus and Fibromyalgia.
Liz was born in Davenport, Iowa on June 27, 1979. She grew up in Durant, Iowa. In October 1992, Liz moved with her family to Taylorville, IL. She graduated from Taylorville High School and worked as CNA for many years and the State of Illinois until her health declined.
Liz loved life and especially close to her heart were her children Olivia Casey (Jared), Stonington, IL; Leigha Orr (Deontay), Springfield, IL; and Xavier Stewart (Izzy), Stonington, IL. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren Ryan Dyer, Ni’Lanai Orr, Reed Casey, Cartier Ettress and Rosalie Casey and her beloved pup “Blessings” whom she loved very much.
Liz loved family get-togethers and cookouts especially as the family grew. From the time she was a young girl, she served as the family’s official “Santa” passing out presents every Christmas Eve and keeping the young ones entertained as they eagerly awaited their turn. She loved to write in her journals and coloring in her books took her mind off the relentless pain.
Liz was known to many as “Momma Liz”. Throughout her life, Liz provided a safe place for anyone needing a helping hand or a bed for the night or longer. She was known for her giving heart and made sure everyone knew her door was always open. Her selfless love and care for others was the greatest gift to so many.
She is survived by her mother, Laura Norton (Rick), Taylorville, IL; father, Gary Dyer (Susan) Bluegrass, Iowa; brothers Nicholas Dyer (Emalie); Charles Dyer (Laura); and Daniel Norton (Nicole) in Taylorville, IL and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and “suga” babies.
The family is comforted knowing Liz is no longer in pain, but more so, with God’s promise of eternal life and our joyful reunion in heaven. May Liz rest in peace in the loving arms of Jesus Chris our Lord and Savior.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Ruby Funeral Home, 1520 East Washington Street, Springfield, IL. Visitation begins at 11am. Pastor Don Beetem, Evangelical Free Church, Taylorville, will officiate the funeral service at noon.
