Jackie Gene “Jack” Davies, 87 of Taylorville, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 19, 1937, in Kincaid, the son of Henry and Marjorie (Dawson) Davies. He married Mary Beth Gall on October 29, 1955, in Taylorville. Jack graduated from Kincaid High School where he was a talented basketball player and enjoyed playing recreational basketball for many years. He worked as a pressman for the Breeze-Courier and State Journal Register for many years. Jack was a talented handyman; there wasn’t any repair or project that he couldn’t complete. He was also a talented house painter whose skills were sought after by many homeowners in the area. In his free time, he loved to play golf, travel to Florida, and loved to eat ice cream. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality, always looking to strike up a conversation with a new friend. More than anything he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Beth Davies of Taylorville; daughters: Jody Romano (Rocci) and Dana Davies of Taylorville; grandchildren: Jeremy Brown (Kellie Sheedy), Chad Brown (Dena), and Damon Romano (Eriko); great grandchildren: Dylan Romano, Brayden Romano, Zeth Price, and River Carver; and sister: Becky Witnauer of St. Louis, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Eva Mae Lesko.
Jack will be cremated, and no services are planned at this time. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
