Robert Samson, 39, of Taylorville, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at his residence. Robert was born on October 7, 1985, in Springfield, IL, to Richard Lee and Debra Faye (McCarty) Samson.

Robert was a handyman and worked as a self-employed contractor. He enjoyed fishing, doing concrete work, playing pool, watching fireworks, and listening to music. He loved spending time outdoors playing in the yard with his kids. Robert was a great and loving father, son, brother, and friend, and he is missed dearly.

He is survived by his son: Jayden Lee Samson; daughters: Brisa Lynn Samson and Jordan Mahrie Samson; his parents: Rick and Debbie Samson of Taylorville, IL; grandfather: Robert Samson Sr. of Taylorville, IL; brother: Ricky Samson Jr. and companion Anita Scott of Taylorville, IL; sister: Deanna (Chris) Gideon of Taylorville, IL; the mother of his children: Amanda Girard; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents: Marge Samson; Mae Jean Wettstein; John McCarty; aunt: Bobbie Mollet; uncles: Danny Samson; Randy Samson; Steve Samson; Roger McCarty; cousin: Katie McCarty; and his sister-in-law: DeeAnna Samson.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. A funeral service will be held the following day on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home with Pastor Brennan Hurley officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
