Randall “Randy” Lee Purtilar, 58, of Peoria passed away unexpectedly on August 21, 2025, at his home.  

 

Randy was born June 20, 1967, in Taylorville, the youngest son of Leroy and R. Lorraine. (Miller) Purtilar. He graduated from Taylorville High School – class of 1985. Randy worked for Agri-fab in Sullivan, IL for many years, then later worked for CWTC in Peoria as an assembly line worker. He was a member of the Taylorville First Baptist Church. Randy was a Cubs fan, loved Nascar, bonfires, comedy shows and going to concerts. He loved to pick on his siblings, being onery and stubborn, but most of all Randy was the patriarch of his family, doing the best possible job of seeing that his family was together and complete. 

 

Randy is survived by his children: Nicole (Aaron) Szabo of Taylorville, Michael (Arev) Purtilar, Joey (Megan) Purtilar and Jordan Purtilar all of Michigan. Brother: Rick Purtilar of Taylorville, niece: Audra (Justin Osterhous) Brown, great-nephew: Jesse Osterhous. Grandchildren: Damian Szabo and Ruby Szabo as well as several other grandchildren. He is also survived by his close friends Rob and Mary Rever.  

 

He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Cecil and Audrey Miller, parents: Leroy and R. Lorraine (Miller) Purtilar, sister: Jeannine Brown, mother-in-law Linda Scully and brother-in-law: Jesse Brown. 

 

Per Randy’s wishes, cremation rites to be accorded with a memorial service at McClure Funeral Home on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Steve Robinson officiating. Memorial Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service, also at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Taylorville.  

 

Memorials in Randy’s honor can be made to the family and accepted by McClure Funeral Home.
