Lois Catherine Vaughn, 85, of Taylorville, IL, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2025, at her residence. She was born on July 6, 1940, in Taylorville, to the late Rayburn “Jack” and Belvia (Dowdy) Hogge. She married Lee Vaughn on June 28, 1958, and he survives.

Lois devoted her life to caring for others. She worked as a nurse’s aid at Taylorville Hospital and provided in-home care for several people in her community. She cared deeply for her patients just as she did for her family. In her spare time, Lois enjoyed tending to her flower garden, sewing, traveling to new places, and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband: Lee Don Vaughn of Taylorville, IL; her son: Mark (Pam) Vaughn of Taylorville, IL; son-in-law: Lee Brandt of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Heather, Amanda, Nathan, Trevor, and Allyson; five great-grandchildren; brother: Jerry Hogge; sisters: Marie Sheedey, Janice Tucker, Julitta Harrison, and Gina Carver; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Vaughn, daughter, Kim Brandt, brothers, Ricky Hogge, Kirby Hogge, and her sister, Joyce Dishon.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville.
