Tyler Burkhart, age 17, of Taylorville, passed away far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, adventure, and love. He was born on December 13, 2007, to Tom and Rena (Allen) Burkhart.
Tyler brought light and joy to his family often. From a young age, Tyler had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether he was riding his dirt bike down a country trail or exploring new paths on his four-wheeler, he found peace and freedom in the open air. He could often be found surrounded by his menagerie of animals: dogs, cats, lizards, snakes…His adventurous spirit was matched only by his kind heart and shy smile — qualities that made him a loyal friend, a loving son, and a cherished brother.
Tyler is survived by his loving parents, Tom and Rena; his brother, Charles “Caby” Burkhart; grandparents, Everett and Janet Allen and Kay King; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever hold his memory close. Family members called before his time include his grandparents, Gale and Mary Burkhart, J.C. King and his big brother, Matthew Burkhart.
Those who knew Tyler will remember his kind heart and quiet ways. Though his time here was short, his impact was immense, a reminder to live fully, love deeply, and embrace each moment.
A private celebration of Tyler’s life will be held for family and close friends at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. In honor of Tyler’s love for the outdoors, the family encourages those attending to wear casual attire — jeans, boots, and memories of good times shared.
Memorials may be made to the wishes of the donor in honor of Tyler’s adventurous and loving spirit.
Tyler will be deeply missed and forever loved.
