Stefanie Michelle Colonius

Stefanie Michelle Colonius, 42, of Taylorville, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in the loving arms of her parents, surrounded by family. A faithful servant of Christ, Stefanie lived a life of purpose, compassion, and grace.

Born on November 25, 1982, in Springfield, Stefanie graduated from Taylorville High School and went on to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she cultivated her passion for creativity. She later earned a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration. Stefanie worked in graphic design and was also a devoted homemaker, roles that allowed her to use both her artistic gifts and her nurturing heart.

Stefanie loved being a mother above all else, and she leaves behind her four beloved sons—Samson, Daniel, Amos, and Ezekiel Colonius—who were the light of her life. She found great joy in serving God and raising her children to walk in faith. A faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Stefanie also used her life to minister to others. Even through her own struggles, she never stopped encouraging, uplifting, and loving those around her.

She had a unique spirit and left an indelible impact on everyone she met. Stefanie’s love for the arts—especially watercolor and the theater—was a lifelong passion, and she was a proud member of the Springfield Art Association. She had a spirit of adventure and loved to travel, finding inspiration and joy in places like New York, Chicago, New Orleans, and France.

Stefanie’s radiant smile and the unmistakable sparkle in her eye could light up any room. She never knew a stranger, and her kindheartedness, authenticity, and faith-filled life were a gift to all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving family: her mother, Vicki McMahon (Rodney), and father, Donald Colonius Sr., both of Taylorville; her precious sons, Samson, Daniel, Amos, and Ezekiel Colonius; her siblings, Donald “D.J.” Colonius (Lauren) and Lindsay Fox (Brandon), both of Taylorville; her nephew, Dean Fox; nieces, Kelsey and Kinsley Colonius; and several dear aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Harold and Jean Colonius and Max and Maxine Ellinger.

Stefanie will be cremated, and a visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Brian Johnston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an education fund for her sons C/O CNB Bank in Taylorville.
