Douglas “Doug” Scott Crawford passed away peacefully surrounded by family and love at his home on October 23rd, 2025.
Doug was born on December 30, 1957, to Charles “Chuck” Crawford and Ruth Puccetti in Taylorville, IL. He spent most of his life in Kincaid, IL graduating from South Fork High School in 1976, and went on to study at Millikin University and Sangamon State where he earned a bachelor’s degree in labor relations.
Doug was a coal miner for 11 years with Peabody Coal Company #10, Member of Local District 9819 U.M.W.A and was a Union Representative. For 31 years, he proudly served as a Labor Council Negotiator for the Fraternal Order of Police, dedicating himself to supporting and advocating for others with strength, fairness, and heart. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, Taylorville Rifle and Pistol Club, A.B.A.T.E of Illinois, and Post 905 American Legion.
Doug loved the great outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing, or cruising down country roads on his Harley, he lived life to the fullest. He had a deep love for music, traveling, and the joy of a good dive bar where he could take over the jukebox and keep the night going. His adventurous spirit, quick wit, and fun-loving nature made him a friend to all. He truly never met a stranger.
Doug is survived by his wife, Brigette of Morrisonville, father: Charles “Chuck” Crawford of Ocala, Florida, his son: Logan Crawford (Ashley Tullius) of Norman, Oklahoma, his daughters: Brittney Crawford (David Brewer) of Bloomington, and Rachael Crawford of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and brother: Gordon Crawford of Pana. He is also survived by his “little buddy” Jasper Brown. Doug was preceded in death his mother, Ruth Puccetti, and stepfather Geno Puccetti in heaven.
Doug was a loving husband, father, and friend who cherished visiting his kids and was known for being a thoughtful gift giver. His generosity, humor, and warmth will be remembered by everyone lucky enough to know him.
A Celebration of Doug’s life will be held Sunday, November 9th, 2025, at 1 pm at The Funky Monkey (2100 North Spresser Street Taylorville, Illinois). In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations for Doug’s little buddy Jasper Brown, which can be made directly through The Midland Bank. Doug did not have any grandchildren and wanted Jasper’s future to be bright. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
