Samuel R. Merriman, 70 of Taylorville, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  He was born on November 17, 1954, in Taylorville, the son of Derald A. and Norma Jean (King) Merriman.  Sam worked for many years at GSI in Assumption and Taylorville.  He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish.  Sam was also a talented horseman and had a deep love for horses.

He is survived by his family: companion: Toni Sherman of Taylorville; bonus-daughter: Lacey Swinburne of Taylorville; sisters: Gretta Siemers and Molly Alaria (Larry) both of Taylorville; and nieces and nephews: B. Russell Rahar (Angie), Rachel B. Rahar (Danny Hackworth), Austin Alaria (Emma), and Lance Alaria.  He was preceded in death by his parents and uncle: Bill King.

Sam was cremated and a private family inurnment took place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Pastor Don Beetem officiating.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
