Pauline E. “Penny” Shehadeh, 74, of Taylorville, IL, passed away on November 17, 2025, at her residence. She was born on November 5, 1951, in Pana, IL, to the late Charles R. and Monica M. (Scherzer) Clavin.
Penny graduated with an associate’s degree and later returned to receive a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Working as an ER nurse was her passion and she became a manager of the ER for a few years. Her true calling in life was caring for others and she selflessly dedicated 45 years of her life to caring for her patients. Penny was strong in her faith and was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a fun, loving, and involved grandmother who cherished her grandchildren and found so much joy in her role as a grandmother. She loved being surrounded by her family and is missed dearly by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son: Jamal Shehadeh of Taylorville, IL; daughters: Sara Shehadeh of Taylorville, IL; Nora George of Florida; grandchildren: Ellyanna of Taylorville, IL; Jacob Shehadeh of Taylorville, IL; Tyler and Tanner George of Florida; siblings: Steven Clavin of Denver, CO; Edward Clavin of Pana, IL; Matthew (Diane) Clavin of Rosamond, IL: Mary (Don) Fleigle of Taylorville, IL; and Sally (Ron) Leonard of Illiopolis, IL.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sam, and her son, Jacob Shehadeh.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. A funeral mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Father John Burnette officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Memorials in her honor may be made to Loving Arms Pregnancy Center in Taylorville or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
