Toni Marie Bennett, 63 of Taylorville, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, surrounded by family at Springfield Memorial Hospital.  She was born on May 19, 1962, in Taylorville, the daughter of Robert L. and Donna M. (Orlandini) Castelli.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Toni worked as a chef in food service at Springfield Memorial Hospital and Taylorville Correctional Center.  Toni will be remembered as a warm, spirited soul whose love for life touched everyone around her. She found joy in the outdoors, especially at Lake Sangchris—whether hunting, fishing, camping, or tending to her garden—and shared her passion for good food through her cooking. A loyal fan of the Chicago Bears, the Cubs, and the Fighting Illini, she cheered on her teams with enthusiasm and heart. Toni had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and an even deeper love for her friends and family. Known as a friendly, social butterfly, she had a smile that could brighten any room and a gift for making others smile in return. Her kindness, energy, and laughter will be cherished forever.

She is survived by her mother: Donna Castelli of Taylorville; children: J.R. Bennett (Kate Hamilton) of Florissant, Missouri, Gianni Hamilton (Hayden) of Divernon, and Devin Bennett (Devin McConnell) of O’Fallon, Missouri; granddaughter: Shiloh Hamilton, and a grandchild on-the-way; siblings: Kari Calcagno (Tony) of Mahomet and Vic Castelli (Sheri) of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father. 

A memorial service for Toni will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Fr. Nick Smith and Fr. John Burnette officiating.  The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.  Memorials may be made to Christian County Animal Control or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
