Carla Jo Kerns, 64, of Taylorville, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.  She was born on September 15, 1961, in Mattoon, the daughter of Robert Joseph and Patricia Louise (Behrend) Arthur.  She married Richard Edwin Kerns on July 31, 1999, in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on May 6, 2021.  Carla worked as a customer service advocate for Blue Cross Blue Shield.  Her biggest joy in life was her family, especially her grandsons whom she adored. 

She is survived by her daughter: Meagan Knepler-Martinez (Eddie) of Taylorville; grandsons: Kolby Ford and Korbin Ford; sister: Lori Calloway (Tom) of Stonington; sisters-in-law: Doris Green (Randy) of Taylorville and Marty Boosinger (Jim) of Sherman; nieces and nephews: Alyson Arthur (Jake Jaquette), Kristi Tipton (Bob), Katie Crowell (Aaron), Michelle Scheller (Steve) and Matt Kerns; and several great nieces and great nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother-in-law: Mike Kerns. 

A funeral service for Carla will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Pastor Don Beetem officiating.  The visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Cub Scout Pack 132.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
