Robert S. “Roscoe” Cook, 66 of Taylorville, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He was born on June 30, 1959, in Taylorville, the son of Robert M. “Skeeter” and Esther Isabel (Klay) Cook. He married Kimberly Ryan on September 1, 2001, in Taylorville. He graduated from Lincoln Land Community College and worked for 37 years as a nurse, most recently at St. John’s Hospital. Roscoe was a member of Taylorville Christian Church. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, enjoyed being outdoors and working on projects. More than anything he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife: Kimberly Cook of Taylorville; daughters: Meredith Cook and Natalie Cook both of Taylorville; sister: Kelly Nickolaus (Brett) of Chatham; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Stanley and Norma Ryan of Blue Mound; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Kraig and Lori Ryan of Blue Mound, Kristin and Dan Niebrugge of Decatur, and Kyle and Monica Ryan of Stonington; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his faithful companion: Biscuit. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service for Roscoe will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Dick Wamsley officiating. The visitation will take place from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and burial will be in the Old Stonington Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Visionway Christian School. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
