Janet I. Rappe, 84 of Taylorville, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Taylorville Estates.  She was born on October 20, 1941, in Taylorville, the daughter of Lyle and Mildred (Coady) Rappe.  She graduated from Illinois State University and went on to work for many years as a teacher at the Taylorville Junior High School.  She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed golfing, boating, and spending time with friends.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Jennifer Pray (Amy Jackson) of Springfield, Jeff Pray (Yudy Hernandez-Pray) of North Ogden, Utah, Tracie Draper (Rickey) of Red Oak, Texas, and Mike Farrar (Mae) of Grand Prairie, Texas; and brother-in-law: Kent Pray of Chatham.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Jim Rappe; and sisters: Donna Challacombe and Debbie Pray.

A memorial service for Janet will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at McClure Funeral Home with Bishop Mary Keldermens officiating.  The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and inurnment will take place at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family of Janet Rappe.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
