Betty Louise Babbs, 95, of Taylorville, IL, passed away on January 16, 2026, at Taylorville Care Center. She was born on October 1, 1930, in Nokomis, IL, to the late Otto Fred Stolte and Frances Lula Davis. Betty married Hubert Harold Barker on March 31, 1947, in Nokomis, IL, and they later divorced after twenty years. Betty remarried Charles Virgil Babbs on May 15, 1968, and he preceded her in death on December 7, 2002.

Betty was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her home and family. Known for keeping an immaculately clean home, she found joy in hard work, whether she was cleaning, caring for her children, or tending to her yard. She loved music and dancing in her free time. Sundays were especially meaningful, as she prepared a big chicken dinner that brought her family together week after week. Betty was patient, loving, and kind, and she instilled these qualities in her children and grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love and compassion she gave so freely.

Remembering her are her children: Larry Barker (Vicky) of Hewittsville, IL; Ralph Barker of Taylorville, IL; David Barker of Taylorville, IL; Tina Babbs of Taylorville, IL; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was reunited with her parents: Otto Stolte and Frances (Davis) Clevenger; her husband; Charles Babbs; siblings: Dorothy Leigh; Doris Moore; Marie Green; Kenneth Stolte Sr.; son: Clarence Barker of Taylorville, IL; daughter: Brenda Barker; granddaughter: Melissa Barker; great-granddaughter: Loren Barker.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
