Margaret Hazel Miller, 92, of Pana died Saturday, January 24, 2026, 1 p.m., at Pana Health and Rehab Center. Hazel was born May 28, 1933, in Whitesville, KY, a daughter of Patrick and Angela (Hagan) Howard. She married Warren Glenn Miller on May 16, 1953, in St. Charles, MO, and he preceded her in death.

 

A funeral Mass is being held Wednesday, January 28, 1 p.m., at St. Louis Catholic Church, Nokomis, with Fr. Michael Meinhart officiating. Burial in St. Barbara Cemetery, Witt, Illinois.

 

Mrs. Miller was a retired bank teller in Hillsboro for many years.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Rios of Pana and Brenda L. Compton of Rochester; three grandchildren, Paul Warren Rios of South Carolina, April Drake of Sullivan, and Laura Compton of Rochester; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Martha Poggenpohl of Morrisonville, Betty (husband Joe) Formea of Palmyra, and Shirley Howard of Carlinville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Patrick Howard; a sister, Mary Boehler; and a son-in-law, Dean Compton.

 

Memorials may be directed to St. Louis Catholic Church, Nokomis. Sutton Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
