James M. Wilcox

James M. Wilcox, 93 of Pana, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Pana Heath and Rehab Center.  He was born on October 31, 1932, in Shelby County, the son of Harley L. and Albertina (Mix) Wilcox.  He married Joyce Flentje on June 25, 1955, in Taylorville.  Jim was baptized in the Old Stonington Baptist Church.  He proudly served his country during the Korean War era as a member of the United States Navy.  He farmed for many years and served as Trustee and Supervisor for Rosamond Township.  He was a member of the Pana Lions Club, Rosamond Elevator Board, and a past 4 -H leader.  Jim enjoyed golfing, square dancing, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife: Joyce Wilcox of Pana; children: Steve Wilcox (Lesa) of Simpsonville, Kentucky, David Wilcox (Karen) of Leroy, and Karen Gilpin (Scott) of Glendale, Arizona; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; brother: Dean Wilcox (Mae) of Selma, Alabama; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Ernest Wilcox, Eileen Daykin-Page, Lillian Johnson, Charles Wilcox, Eleanor DeRochi, Elizabeth Mills, and Betty Wood; and grandson: Seth Wilcox.

Jim will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville.  A visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, Christian County YMCA, or a charity of the donor’s choice.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
