George Michael Walton, 73 of Taylorville, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in his home.  He was born on November 16, 1952, in Taylorville, the son of George E. and Mary J. (Kositz) Walton.  He married Nancy Abel and she preceded him in death on June 7, 1977.  After high school George served in the Illinois National Guard.  He worked at Sangamon Card Company for several years until their closure and then he retired from Huston Patterson in Decatur.  He enjoyed working with computers, golfing, bowling, and previously volunteered as a Little League coach. 

He is survived by his children: Aric Walton (Ashley Selzer) and Laura McNeely (Scott)  both of Taylorville; grandchildren: Katlyn Kile (Tyler), Ali Handy, Emmily McNeely, Allison Walton (Joseph Pop), Ashley Walton, and Ava Walton; great grandchildren: Emma, Ben, Letti, Ryder, Red Lee, and Ila; nephew: Sam Walton; and great nephews: Hayden and Brock Walton.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother: Pat Walton.

Mr. Walton will be cremated, and his family will host a celebration of life at a later date.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
