Donna J. Heninger, 89 of Taylorville, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born on May 21, 1936, in Taylorville, the daughter of George and Angie (Fenoglio) Collins. She married Jerry J. Heninger on May 19, 1961, in Springfield, and he preceded her in death on September 15, 1992. Donna previously worked as a nurse, and more recently as a classroom aide for the Taylorville School District. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Community Women’s Association. She enjoyed reading and working on crossword puzzles and loved visits from her grandchildren. In recent years as a resident of High Point Residence, she enjoyed attending church services and music events. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of High Point Residence and the nurses, care techs, and hospice team at St. John’s Hospital 9th floor.
She is survived by her daughters: Anita Kuhlmann (Jarvis) of Katy, Texas, and Michelle Heninger of Springfield; grandchildren: Courtney Dutcher (Blake) and Landan Kuhlmann; and great granddaughter: Haisley Dutcher. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother: George Edward Collins; and aunt and uncle: Gene and Eddie Delinsky.
A funeral service for Donna will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Fr. John Burnette officiating. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral and burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
