Evelyn June Rogers, 96, of Taylorville, IL, passed away at Taylorville Care Center on March 9, 2026. She was born on May 17, 1929, in Morrisonville, IL, to the late William and Alma (DeWeroff) Miller. Her first husband, and the father of her only son, preceded her in death. She later married Fred Rogers, and he preceded her in death in 1980.

Evelyn selflessly dedicated her life to taking care of others. She worked as a nurse’s aid for 40 years and showed her patients grace, kindness, and compassion. Her and Fred were active members of the Eagles Club, Moose Lodge, American Legion, and VFW. She loved spending time with her family and is missed dearly.

She is survived by her son: Gerald (Dolores) Lutz of Decatur, IL; grandson: Chad William Lutz; great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Mason, and Adam Lutz; great-great-grandson: Jagger Eugene Largent; as well her sister: Grace Maygan.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her grandson, Jerry Dean Lutz, two brothers, William Miller Sr. and Larry Miller, as well as her sister, Mary Mann.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Fred.
