Gary Watson, 77, of Pana, Illinois, passed away peacefully Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. John's Hospital with Sue by his side.

Gary was born on July 31, 1948, to Ivan and Mary (Bingham) Watson. He leaves behind his love and best buddy Sue Perry. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Kay Guffy and Karen Sams, and his brothers, Larry (Pam) Watson, and Jerry (Angie) Watson. He also leaves his four children: Dawn Linn (James), Rodney Meyer (Carrie), Gayla Meyer-Dorsey (Brent) and Kimberly Moody (Aaron). He was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Terry and 2 infant brothers.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping in his younger days. He liked motorcycles, old cars and old friends. He loved spending time with his family and was so proud of his kids, grandkids and the greats! He spent many good times visiting with his buddies. He and Sue shared 20 years of adventures with family and friends in Louisiana before returning to Pana to enjoy retirement.

Per Gary's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and a family hosted celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorials in Gary's honor may be made to Pana Community Hospital Foundation for the Emergency Department, who played a big part in helping Gary over the past years.
