Roy E. Ziegler III passed away on March 15, 2026, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born on January 13, 1968, in Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
Roy never knew a stranger. He was loved by many and a friend for life. A “Late Bloomer”, he left his beloved Denver to attend school and start a new life in Central Illinois. To the surprise of his family, he enrolled in nursing school and became a registered nurse, passing his final exam the first time taken, not notifying anyone in the family or friends until after he received the positive outcome. He enjoyed giving unusual gifts to all he loved and he loved so many.
Roy leaves his family: parents: Roy E. Ziegler II and Nancy A. Ziegler; his beloved aunt Lynda; and his “substitute siblings”, Lisa McGuire, Lance Smith, Laurie Sparling, Lane Smith, Jan Cumpston, and Jon Dickson; and aunt and uncle: Gayle and Hartmut Stroth. He was preceded in death by his birth mother: Helgard Stroth.
Mr. Ziegler will be cremated and no services are planned for this time. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
