Angelina M. (Sassatelli) White, 95, of Taylorville, IL passed away at her residence on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. She was born on December 29, 1930, in Tovey, IL, to the late Aphonso and Margherita (Vitali) Sassatelli. Angelina married the love of her life, (Arthur) Gene White, on September 10, 1949, at the Taylorville United Methodist Church. They were married for 58 years and were blessed with four children. Gene preceded her in death on September 11, 2007.
Angie and Gene previously owned and operated the Skyscraper tavern in Hewittville and the Blue Bell Club in Pana. They were known for being engaging hosts, hosting fun events, and holding horseshoe and bocce ball tournaments especially at the Blue Bell. Angelina held various jobs over the years including working for the Sangamon Greeting Card Company as the “card lady” at Walmart in the original Taylorville store and later as a Walmart Sales Associate for many years retiring at the age of 88. Angie was also the bocce ball superintendent at the Illinois State Fair for several years. Angie and Gene made many long-lasting friendships over the years.
In her spare time, Angie loved to be outdoors tending to her garden and feeding the neighborhood birds. She also loved doing all types of puzzles and doing cross stitch. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren, often enjoying a nice glass (or 2 or 3) of dry red wine. Her life was enriched by friendships that grew into family, and she held those bonds close to her heart. She was known for always being ready to engage in sassy banter which might include a fun gesture or two.
Surviving are her children: Terry (wife, Dixie) White of Taylorville, IL; Kathy (husband, Mark) Satterlee of Taylorville, IL; Scott (wife, Sally) of Grant, FL; daughter-in-law: Eileen White of Chatham, IL; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.
Angie is reunited with her parents, husband, son (Gene J. White), two brothers (Reno and Leo Sassatelli) and her beloved dog Sammie.
Services for Angie will be held on Saturday, March 28, at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with visitation from 9:00-11:00am, funeral at 11:00, and followed by a short graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.
