Monica Ann Monts, 67 of Kincaid passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.  She was born on August 8, 1958, in Springfield, the daughter of William and Mary (Cima) Spinner.  She married Darrel Robert Monts on October 5, 1996, in Kincaid, and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2019.  Monica worked for the Illinois Secretary of State and served as the treasurer for Southfork Township.  For over 35 years she was a volunteer for Chillifest and was also a member of the Moose Lodge and St. Rita Catholic Church.  Monica had a love of flowers and enjoyed creating floral arrangements. 

She is survived by her daughter: Rachel Mary Margrett Monts (Brady) of Riverton; grandchildren: Cooper Mohan, Colton Mohan, and Thomas Mohan; brother: William Spinner (Lynn Kamenic) of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews: Deidre Hernandez (Josue), Desiree Monts, and Derek Monts; and her beloved cats: Tiggy and Murphy.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and nephew: Drew Monts.

Monica will be cremated and a graveside service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Fraley Cemetery with Fr. John Burnette officiating.  Memorials may be made to a memorial fund for her grandchildren.  Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
