Charles H. Samson Sr., 88 of Taylorville, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, surrounded by his family in his home.  He was born on June 10, 1937, in Stonington, the son of Lynn and Lena (Luttrell) Samson.  He married Matilda Helms on October 28, 1978, in Taylorville.  Charles proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. He retired from Alma Plastics where he worked for many years as the head of maintenance.  He also worked as a truck driver and farmer.  He enjoyed spending time fishing and camping with his grandchildren. 

He is survived by wife: Matilda Samson of Taylorville; children: Tricia Evrley (John) of Taylorville, Ronnie Samson of Taylorville, Shane Samson (Dena) of Copperas Cove, Texas, Muriel Cook (Lee) of Taylorville, Charles W. Samson (Heather) of Taylorville, and Charles H. Samson Jr. (Randi) of Auburn; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; siblings: Bob Samson of Taylorville, Darrell Samson of Taylorville, and Martha LaVore of Utah, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Rhonda Samson; and siblings: Bud Samson, Dave Samson, and Ronnie Samson.

A funeral service for Charles will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.  The visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial with veterans honors will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
