Patricia Illeen Kretzer

Patricia Illeen (Talbert) Kretzer, age 92 passed away on 5 April 2026 in Taylorville, Illinois.

She was born on December 22, 1933, in Toulon, IL, the daughter of Lester William Talbert and Elisabeth Isabell Duncan Talbert. Patricia married the love of her life, Oliver Henry Kretzer, on November 19, 1951, in Galesburg, IL. They shared over 60 years of marriage before his passing in June 2012, building a life grounded in love, family, and unwavering commitment. Patricia lived in many locations throughout central Illinois, moving with her husband as he worked on high voltage power lines. They later settled in Christian County and lived over 50 years in both Taylorville and Pana, Illinois. Patricia and her husband also spent an extensive amount of time in Port Aransas, Texas as winter Texans for almost 20 years.

 

Patricia was the matriarch of the extended Kretzer family, a role she carried with strength, grace, and deep devotion. Her greatest joy came from her family, and she was a constant source of love, guidance, and support across generations.

 

She is survived by her children: John Michael Kretzer (Aleta), Patrick W. Kretzer (Sue), Kristi A. Meid (Jeff), David E. Kretzer (Lisa), and Peter A. Kretzer. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Eric, Melissa, Tosha, James, DJ, Matthew, Cody, Katelyn, and Kayla as well as seven great grandchildren, all of whom were a cherished part of her life and legacy.

 

Patricia is further survived by her siblings, Thomas Talbert (Janice) and Trudie Friedly (Robert), along with many beloved nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Henry Kretzer, her parents, and her sisters, Annabel and Elaine.

 

She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Charter Member and Past President of the FOE Aerie 4109 Auxiliary in Pana, Illinois, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She spent over twenty years working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where she cared for others with compassion and dedication in Pana.

 

Patricia will be remembered for her enduring love, her strength of character, and the central role she played in bringing her family together.

 

Her love remains the foundation of our family. 

 

The family will host a celebration of life on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Pana Eagles, 186 US Highway 51, Pana, IL  62557. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
