Carol A. Lahr

Carol A. Lahr, 80 of Taylorville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.  She was born on January 28, 1946, in Taylorville, the daughter of William and Mary Ellen (Secrest) Waddell.  Carol worked for over 35 years for the State of Illinois, Department of Revenue.   She had a special fondness for collecting knick-knacks, especially her treasured Elvis memorabilia, which brought her endless delight. Carol cherished time spent with her close friends, whether visiting charming tea rooms or enjoying an outing on the gambling riverboat. Above all, she deeply loved her family and created lasting memories through her travels, especially those shared with her son, grandchildren, niece, and nephews. Her kindness, laughter, and love will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son: Scott Lahr (Amanda) of Taylorville; grandsons: Jake Lahr and Will Lahr; great grandson: Avery Lahr; siblings: Karen Williams and Kenneth Waddell (Linda) both of Taylorville; and her nephews, niece and 2 great nieces.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother: Billy Glen Waddell. 

Carol will be cremated and a memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Friday, April 10, 2026, at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville.  A private family graveside service will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Rev. Jessica Baldyga officiating.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
