Melba Hrabak Obituary

Melba Jean (Bland) Hrabak, 92, of Nokomis, IL, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on April 10, 1934, in Owaneco, IL, to the late George E. and Ethel E. Bland. She married her beloved Marcus O’Mar McCann in October of 1952, and they resided in Pekin, IL, for several years. Marcus preceded her in death on May 14, 1968. She later married Larry R. Hrabak in Coalton, IL, and they spent 55 loving years together.

Melba enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. She found joy in tending to her garden and was a talented seamstress. She also enjoyed collecting unique rocks, listening to music, and dancing. Melba had a love of traveling and made many memories with her family on all the trips taken together. While at home, “Grandma Cookie”, known for her cookies, could often be found baking delicious goods to share with her loved ones. Melba had a giving heart and generously shared her time volunteering and helping others. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be remembered for the warmth and kindness she showed to everyone.

(Kyra) Havera of Taylorville, IL; Mark A. (Susan) Havera of Maryville, IL; Marcus Burr of Portland, OR; Logan McCann of Palmer, AK; Lee McCann of Wasilla, AK; great-grandchildren: Taylor Lohman of Indianapolis, IN; Reece Lohman of Nokomis, IL; Kallie Havera of Taylorville, IL; Livia Havera of Taylorville, IL; Maddex Havera of Taylorville, IL; Nathan Havera of Maryville, IL; and Addison Havera of Maryville, IL;

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ethel Bland, her first husband, Marcus McCann of Pekin, IL, her brother, Melvin Bland of Pekin, IL, and her sister, Betty Bland of Owaneco, IL.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. A funeral service will be held the following day, Monday, April 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Nokomis Cemetery.

Memorials in her honor may be made to Coalton Baptist Church.
