Reed Lyle Fikan, 3, of Taylorville, IL, passed away on May 2, 2026, at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born on July 13, 2022, to Anthony Fikan and Cayley Durbin of Taylorville.

Carrying on his memory are his parents: Anthony and Cayley; sister: Lilah Fikan; grandparents: Charlie Durbin (Mandy Dye) of Taylorville, IL; Johnny and Jennifer Fikan of Tower Hill, IL; great-grandparents: Tammy Durbin of Taylorville, IL; Stella Fikan of Tower Hill, IL; Trudy (Ken) Scoggin of St. Charles, MO; Pat (Karen) Cole of Pana, IL; aunts and uncles: Christopher (Elizabeth) Durbin of Lebanon, IL; Logan (Megan) Fikan of Springfield, IL; Alex (Amanda) Durbin of Taylorville, IL; Beth Bonn of Shelbyville, IL; Rachel (Nick) Waterman of Tower Hill, IL; Thomas (Stacy) Fikan of Ohlman, IL; David (Jenney) Fikan of Oakley, IL; Sarah (Curtis) Lindsey of Pana, IL; Christina Caraker of Pana, IL; and several cousins. 

Reed fought hard his whole life. He was the strongest boy. Reed was welcomed into heaven by his grandmother, Christina Durbin, and his great-grandfather, Lyle Fikan. 

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00 -12:00 noon at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. 

Following the visitation, there will be a dinner at the Knights of Columbus in Taylorville to celebrate his life. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the family to support Reed’s sister Lilah’s future.
