Robert David McGehee, 77, of Taylorville, IL, passed away on May 3, 2026, at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on May 8, 1948, in Taylorville, the son of Gilmer Dotson and Suddie Mae (Cox) McGehee. On June 24, 1972, he married Debra Rush in Taylorville, and they spent many loving years together and were blessed with two children.

Robert proudly and selflessly served his country in the United States Army. Following his service, he worked as an electrician at Firestone in Decatur, IL, for many years until his retirement. Robert was strong in his faith and attended Grace Baptist Church of Taylorville many times over the years. He was a loving husband and father and is missed dearly.

Surviving is his wife: Debra McGehee of Taylorville, IL; son: Christopher McGehee of Redlands, CA; daughter: Michelle McGehee of Bryan, TX; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Luke, Bill, Ed, Jim, Tom, and Charlie, as well as his sisters, Kay, Lil, Lena, Ginnie, and Loretta.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10:00am-12:00pm at Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville. A funeral service will begin at noon with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later time.

Memorials in his honor may be made to either Grace Baptist Church or to the American Diabetes Association.
