Joan Adele Fiaoni, 96, of Taylorville, IL, passed away at Taylorville Care Center on Sunday, May 10, 2026. She was born on October 25, 1929, in Taylorville, daughter of the late John and Mary (Spigarelli) Giovagnoli. She married Ralph James Fiaoni on June 3, 1950, and they spent many loving years together before he preceded her in death.
Joan worked in the banking industry, dedicating many years working as a clerk for US Bank. She was strong in her faith and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church as well as a member of Catholic Daughters of America. Outside of work Joan stayed busy with many hobbies. She had a strong appreciation for art and loved designing clothing. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and catching up with her classmates during their monthly dinners. Over the years, Ralph and Joan traveled frequently and saw the world together, always bringing their memories back home to share with their loved ones. They loved their family dearly and are deeply missed.
Surviving is their son: John (Treva) Fiaoni of Taylorville, IL; David (Laura) Fiaoni of Arlington, TX; Michael (Cathy) Fiaoni of Licking, MO; grandchildren: Cory (Amanda) Fiaoni; Phillip (Emily) Fiaoni; Thomas (Morgan) Fiaoni; Robert Fiaoni; Gracie (Jackson) Redford; Rebecca (Motto) McNeal; great-grandchildren: Preston, Zayn, Truman, Roman and Maeve, Nilan, Isabella and Sofia, Atticus and Atlas; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by her sister, Norene Dixon.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. A funeral mass will be held the following day, Monday, May 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Rodney Swartz officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Memorials in her honor may be made to either St. Mary’s Catholic Church, to Catholic Daughters of America, or to Knights of Columbus, Taylorville.
