Marilyn Y. Fisher

Marilyn Y. Fisher, 90 of Maryville, Tennessee, formerly of Mt. Auburn and Taylorville, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, in her home.  She was born on September 6, 1935, in Beebe, Arkansas, the daughter of Hubert and Evelyn (Swann) Sparkman.  From the age of 2 until 5, she was raised by her grandmother, Mary Caroline Swann and then by her aunt and uncles: Lillian and Lincoln Center and Elmer Swann until she was an adult.  Marilyn graduated from Mt. Auburn High School.  She was baptized in the Taylorville First United Methodist Church and was active in the Mt. Auburn United Methodist church in her youth.  She married William Gene Fisher on June 11, 1955, and he preceded her in death on February 27, 1992.  Marilyn previously worked at General Motors in Decatur, and for 30 years at Allis-Chalmers/Fiat-Allis in Springfield where she was part of the close-out team.  She retired from Franklin Life Insurance Company.  Marilyn volunteered with the St. Vincent Hospital hospice program and was an active member of the Chrisitan County Senior Citizens Center and Christian County Triad program.  She enjoyed singing as a part of Grace Notes, now known as Harmony.  She also attended the Maryville Church of Christ.  Working on jigsaw puzzles was a favorite pastime of Marilyn.  More than anything she loved her family and would do anything she could to support her children and grandchildren. 

She is survived by her daughters: Carolyn Wagner (Ronald) of Decatur and Lisa Leslie (Steve) of Maryville, Tennessee; grandchildren: Marcy McGlasson of Decatur, Amanda Wagner (Ryan Lopez) of Eastvale, California, and Zachary Reeves (Denise) of Goose Creek, South Carolina; great grandchildren: Gabrielle Scully (John), Jerald McGlasson Jr., Callan Wagner, Elizabeth Reeves, and Kieren Wagner-Lopez; sister: Arkie Thelen of Loomis, California; sister-in-law: Paula Andrson of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; and brother-in-law: Richard Fisher of Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter: Julie Wagner; and brother: Ronald Lamonds. 

A funeral service for Marilyn will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Shane Clayton officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at the funeral home and burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Blount County Animal Shelter, 233 Currie Ave, Maryville, TN 37804- where Marilyn adopted her beloved cat, Lily.  McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
