Mary Jane Fesser

Mary Jane Fesser, 83 of Morrisonville, passed away, surrounded by her family, on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Rochester Estates in Rochester.  She was born on October 8, 1942, in rural Palmer, Nebraska, the daughter of Charles and Esther (Simonson) Van Pelt.  She married Glenn Carl Fesser on July 9, 1966, in the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer, Nebraska, and he preceded her in death on March 22, 2018.  Mary was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel where she took part in the quilting group and Ladies Aid.  She worked alongside her husband on their family farm.  She and Glenn enjoyed square dancing together. 

She is survived by her daughters: Carla Fleigle (Phil) of Heyworth, Brenda Fesser of Springfield, and Dana Pinnow (Chris) of Cartersville, Georgia; grandchildren: Jared Fleigle (McKenzie) of Ballston Spa, New York, Kayla Fleigle of St. Louis, Missouri, Shawn Pinnow and Isaac Pinnow both of Cartersville, Georgia; siblings: Dan Van Pelt of Minnesota, Carol Corbett (Stan) of Massachusetts, Bonnie Jacobsen of Nebraska, Connie Taylor (Jim) of Nebraska, and Doris Cerny (Mike) of Nebraska; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Jay Van Pelt and Nancy Mattson.

A funeral service for Mary will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel with Pastor Chris Prumm officiating.  The visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday in the church and burial will be in the Morrisonville Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or Individual Advocacy Group (IAG) in Springfield.  Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville is assisting the family with arrangements.
