Janet Eileen Jones, 88, of Assumption, Illinois, passed away at 3:20 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Janet was born on January 4, 1938, in Palmer, Illinois, the daughter of Mervin and Irene (Funderburk) German. She married William H. Jones on May 20, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois, and they shared 65 years of wonderful marriage together.

Janet was a homemaker who dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was well known for her baking. She lovingly prepared cookies, cakes, candies, and Christmas treats each year for her family. Her homemade sweets became a tradition that those who knew her always looked forward to. Janet also volunteered for many years at the Eagles Club, helping with bingo nights and enjoying time spent with friends and members of the community.

She is survived by her husband, William H. Jones of Assumption; her son, William H. (Lynn) Jones II of Taylorville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda and Lawana; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Rhonda Emerson; her son, Greg Reber; her Brother-in-Law, Ronald Emerson; and five brothers.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 14th, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Janet's grandson, Seth Reber, will share a brief eulogy immediately following the visitation. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery
