Virginia Ruth Ream, 99, of Taylorville, passed away at 5 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehab.  

Virginia was born February 6, 1927, in Taylorville, the daughter of L.L. and Edith (Deweese) Kindred. She married Don Ream Jr.  He preceded her in death on December 31, 1953.

 As a seamstress in several garment factories, Virginia spent the majority of her career creating clothing. However, she most recently worked at Sangamon Card. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting in her free time for her family and friends.

Virginia is survived by two sons, Rickie Dale Ream of Taylorville and Terrance P. (Mona) Ream of FL; grandchildren, Benjamin Ream, Darcy Ream Carnahan, Shawn Grolher, Shelly Ream and Trisha Wells; several great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; son, Daniel Paul Ream; grandchildren, Terry, Eric, Danny and Shannon Ream; and eight siblings, Paul, Maxine, Mary, Helen, Tom, Earl, Joann, and Bob.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 5:30-7:30 pm at Sutton Memorial Home, 327 N. Clay Street, Taylorville, IL. The funeral will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11:00 am at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and granddaughter at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.
