Danny Ray “D.R. Correll, 76 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 4:01 p.m. at his home in Taylorville. He was born on October 22, 1949, in Danville, IL, the son of L.V. “Pete” and Catherine M. (Fleming) Correll. Danny worked for the State of Illinois EPA and was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany. Anyone who knows Danny knew he had a lot of nicknames for himself and others, He was known as DR the Rod, Mario and Dan the man. All of his girls also had nicknames Heather (Ben German), Amanda (Mac Dean Banders) and is Melissa (Gold Golderman). Danny loved riding his motorcycles, fishing and nascar. He never met a stranger. Danny was a recipient of a heart transplant in 2012, and he faced many years of health issues. It seemed like he had 9 lives like his cat friends. If you didn’t know Danny you might know him by his mustache. He was a member of the Morrisonville American Legion, Palmer Lodge 501 odd Fellows, mid-Central Waste Water operators group, AFSME Council #31, ABATE and the Harley HOG association.
Danny is survived by his Girlfriend: Charlene Hofer of Taylorville, IL; Daughters: Heather (Brian) Vocks of Kincaid, IL; Amanda (Shawn) Christian of Morrisonville, IL; Melissa (Aaron) Calvert of Taylorville, IL; Step-Children; Matthew Hofer, Jessica Stipp; Grandchildren: Trevor Badman (Jenna); Chase (Shelbi) Vickery, Rhaegan (Logan) Harris, Jett Vickery, Tate Christian; Step-Grandchildren: Skyler Smith, Emma Step, Gabe Iles, Haven Hargrove, Wrigley Hofer; Great-Grandchildren: Bennett and Riley Harris, Bonnie Badman, Sonny Vickery; Step-Great-Grandchild: Ripley; Cousin: Linda Snell of Lowell, IN; His four legged friends: Tom Dean Slim, Sylvester, Maxamillion, Frank, Charlie and Miley. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his cat munchkin.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation starting at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Chad Foster officiating. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.
