Rachael Jean England

Rachael Jean “Rae” England, 100 of Morrisonville, departed this world on Monday, August 17, 2026, at High Point Residence in Taylorville.  She was born the third of four daughters to John and Jean (Conn) Fisher on April 18, 1926, in Gillespie.  She married Darrel Dean England on October 18, 1951, in Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on April 9, 1998Rae retired from the State of Illinois after 26 years.  She was a member of the Morrisonville United Methodist Church.  In her younger years she served as a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher.  For many years she was in charge of the annual church bazaar.  She was a member of the Morrisonville American Legion Auxiliary and Civic Janes.  Many ladies from Morrisonville will remember Rae as their Girl Scout leader.  She enjoyed playing Bingo and going on bus trips.  Her favorite trip was to Scotland to visit with cousins and see where her parents were raised. 

Rae’s family would like to thank all of the staff at Taylorville High Point Residence and Hands of God Hospice for the caring and kindness given to our mother and grandmother during the last 5 years. 

She is survived by her daughter: Vicki (Joe) Kent of Morrisonville; grandchildren: Marcy (Jerry) Held, Stefanie Kent, and Barry (Amy) Kent; great grandchildren: Brendan Held, Ryan Held, Alexis Kent, and Alivia Kent; sister: Nettie Saric of Gillespie; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Robert England; sisters: Mary (Wess) Granger and Margaret (John) Lehman; and brother-in-law: John Saric.

A visitation for Rae will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville.  A private family graveside will take place at Morrisonville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Morrisonville Ambulance Service.  Assalley Funeral Home in Morrisonville is assisting the family with arrangements.
