Marvin E. Wicks of Langleville

Marvin E. Wicks, 76, of Langleyville passed away at 9:05am on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in his home. He was born on July 14, 1937 in Benton, Illinois, the son of G. Marvin Wicks and Revola Moore Goodman. Mr. Wicks married Debbie Grissom on November 26, 1982 in Taylorville. He worked at Commonwealth Edison as a maintenance mechanic. He was a member of Moose Lodge #1516, Mound Lodge #122 AF&AM for 42 years, and the Springfield Scottish Rite. Marvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and riding his motorcycle.

Mr. Wicks is survived by his wife: Debbie Wicks, of Langleyville; Children: Kathy Gross, husband Mike, of Tovey, Tammy Sims, husband Myron, of Taylorville, Debra Hill, husband Rick, of Edinburg, Steve Wicks, of Edinburg, Rick Rueff, wife Amy, of Decatur, and Lori Rueff of Taylorville; Brothers: Danny Wicks of Kincaid, and Henry Wicks of Taylorville; Sister: Mary Lou Pritchett of Benton; 21 grandchildren; 36 Great Grandchildren; and 1 Great Great Grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenny Wicks.

A memorial service will be held at 11am, Friday May 2, 2014 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. JoAnn Dobyns officiating. Visitation will be from 10 until 11am in the funeral home.

Barbara Ann Weeden of Pana

Barbara Ann Weeden,  69, of Pana, IL passed away on April 29, 2014 at 3:40 a.m. at Heritage Manor, Pana, IL with family close by her. She was born on November 25, 1944 in Taylorville, IL;  the daughter Samuel Grover and Nova (Stroud) Tolly. On January 5, 1964 Barbara married Lester “Jim” Weeden in Taylorville, IL.


Barb was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Taylorville until moving to Pana in 1974. Where she became an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Pana. She was a long-time member of the church choir. Singing was one of her favorite pastimes. Barb worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance in Taylorville until her daughter was born. She loved being a stay-at-home mom. But, she also substituted in the school cafeteria and babysat for friends. In later years she cared for her ailing parents.


She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter: Wendy (husband Steve) Brookens of Taylorville, IL; granddaughter: Hayden Baker who was the light of her life. She was preceded in passing by her parents.
Graveside Services will be held at the Edinburg Cemetery on Saturday, May 3, 2014 leaving from Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville at 10:00 a.m.. Pastor Steve Palmer will officiate.

Mary I. Warren of Springfield

Mary I. Warren, 67, of Springfield, IL formerly of Taylorville, died Thursday, April 24 at her residence in Springfield.

She was born January 1, 1947 in Taylorville the daughter of Elmer “Pete” Warren and Lucille Daniels.  

Surviving are her daughters: Kelly, Pam, and Michelle, and 5 granddaughters.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister.

There will be no services at this time.

Ida Evelyn Wells of Taylorville

Ida Evelyn Wells,  95, of Taylorville, passed away on April 28, 2014 at 12:45 a.m. at Meadow Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville, IL. She was born on June 27, 1918 in Flora, IL  the daughter of  Edward L. and Sybil (Briscoe) Sparlin. She married  William Wells on July 18, 1940 in Springfield, IL; he preceded her in on June 17, 1989. Mrs. Wells was a Domestic Assistant. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville and the Country Junior Women’s Club.


She is survived by her daughters: Dorothy “Dot” McHenry of Springfield, IL and Eugenia “Genie” Wells of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Steven (Rhonda) Conover  and Sean Patrick McHenry both of Springfield, IL; great grandchildren: Billy and Bailey Conover; brother Melvin Sparlin of Rockford, IL; sisters: Francis Michael of Columbus, OH and Julia Sparlin of Alton, IL; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in passing by her parents, husband, daughter: Delia; grandson: Terrence Ryan McHenry; brothers: Bill Sparlin and Howard Sparlin; sister: Ruby Pittman.


Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at  11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville with  Rev. Don Bettis officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.

Judith A. Vidmar of Taylorville

Judith A. Vidmar,  76, of Taylorville, passed away on April 27, 2014 at 4:45 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. She was born on November 2, 1937 in Taylorville, IL  the daughter of  William and Maymie (Brown) Souders. She married  John Vidmar on June 9, 1956  in Taylorville.  She was retired from Private In-Home Health Care.


She is survived by her husband, John of Taylorville; son: John (Pam) Vidmar Jr. of Assumption, IL; daughter: Karen Vidmar of Taylorville, IL; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Richard Collingwood of Decatur, IL and Paul Kindred of Taylorville, IL; several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in passing by her parents, daughter: Kathy Allen; sisters: Helen Kindred and Patty Collingwood.


Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating.  Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL

Frank Lee Tomazic of Sparta

Frank Lee Tomazic 72, of Sparta, formerly of Taylorville, IL died at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 204 at Sparta Hospital after a long battle with cancer, with his niece, Tammy Roberts and nephew, Richard Brewer at his side.
Frank was born on January 14, 1942 to Steve and Zelma (Tippet) Tomazic. He married Marylou Prasun on October, 5, 1962 in Kincaid and moved to Taylorville where they lived for many years, and then moved to Sparta, she preceded him in death. He was a coal miner for 32 years starting at Peabody #10 and after it shut down continued at the Marissa mine until he retired. Frank enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and spending time with his friend at Hardees and McDonalds.


He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Steve Jr.; 1 sister, Alice Howard; his 2 wives and his nephew, Billy Hughes. He is survived by his brother, John Tomazic (Kathryn); sister, Alice Hughes (Bill); nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins and friends and a special friends Darlene Finley. At Franks request he was cremated and a Memorial Service will be Tuesday, April 29th  at The Presbyterian church in Tilden with Rev. Dennis Hamilton officiating from 5 to 7 p.m. and there will b a Grave Side Service at the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville April 30th at 1:00 p.m.


In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given to the Health and Wellness foundation of Sparta Community Hospital, 818 E. Broadway, Sparta, IL 62286 to benefit the Nursing Services and will be accepted at the church.

Betty Lou Wyatt of Taylorville

Betty Lou Wyatt, 90, of Taylorville, IL died at 7:06 am Friday, April 25, 2014, at her residence.

She was born April 6, 1924 in DuQuoin, IL, the daughter of George E. and Ida Jane Shook Davison.  On June 27, 1942 she married Kenneth O. “Tom” Wyatt in DuQuoin.  He preceded her in death on April 5, 1999.  Mrs. Wyatt had been a cook at Taylorville Junior High School for many years. 

Surviving are her daughter: Judy A. Roberts and husband Dr. Loren of Naples, FL; Son: Robert Wyatt and wife Patricia Glenn of Springfield. Grandchildren: Kimberly Norbeck and husband Randy of Winfield, IL and Brenda Farrand and husband Neal of Raleigh, NC.  Great Grandchildren: Emily Norbeck, Ryan Norbeck, Sarah Norbeck, Tyler Farrand, Austin Farrand, Carter Farrand, and Hunter Farrand.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, April 28 at McClure Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Boyett officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service in the funeral home on Monday.

Adam Joseph Collins of Taylorville

Adam Joseph Collins,  21, of Taylorville, passed away on April 19, 2014 at 4:30 a.m. at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL. He was born on March 31, 1993 in Springfield, IL;  the son of Tim and Lori (Kalka) Collins. He was a student at SIUE and worked at Joe’s Pizza in Edwardsville, IL. He loved  skateboarding, snowboarding, canoeing, fishing, going to concerts, playing paintball, and hacky sack. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.


He is survived by his parents: Tim and Lori (Kalka) Collins of Taylorville, IL; sister: Amy (Jake) Law and his future niece and nephew; paternal grandparents: Jimmy and Anna Collins; maternal grandfather: Joseph Kalka; Aunts and Uncles: Jim (Kim) Collins, Joe (Marcia) Collins, John Collins. Jennifer (Jack) Bryan and Ruby Jo Knight,  cousins: several including : Mike (Sarah), Aiden, Angela (Zach), Riley, Clara, Chrissy, Marisa, Preston, Lily, Emma, Landon, Shelly (Shawn), Nicole, Zack, Lia, Abbie, Randi (Justin), Levi, Melanie, John, Sherrie, Syd, Courtney, Nola, Joey, Tricia (Louie); special friends (you know who you are) He was preceded in passing by his Grandmother  Bonnie Kalka and Uncle John Dwayne Kalka.

Darrel E. Cocagne of Taylorville

Darrel E. Cocagne, 91, of Taylorville, IL died at 5:06 am Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.

He was born June 12, 1922 in Assumption, the son of Joseph Isadore and Nora McKinney Cocagne.  On February 19, 1944 he married Annabel L. Kuhn in Oconee, IL. Darrel and Annabel just celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.  Darrel was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville where he had served on the Parish Council, he was a member of Taylorville Knights of Columbus, he was recently elected into the Knights of Columbus Hall of Fame, Darrel was a member of the 4th degree Knight’s of Columbus, he was a Charter Member and Past President of the Taylorville Optimist Club, President of the St. Vincent Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, had been named Taylorville’s Citizen of the Year. Darrel was an active sponsor of Taylorville Youth Sports and was a member and Past President of the Illinois Association of Mutual Insurance Companies.

Surviving is his wife of 70 years, Annabel, Sons: Bill Cocagne and wife Jan of Pittsburg, Denny Cocagne and wife Nancy of Springfield, and Jerry Cocagne and wife Lori of Taylorville.  Daughters: Pat White and husband Bob of Minonk, and Denise King and husband Bill of Maroa.  There are 12 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Edward Joseph Cocagne in Infancy, Brother, Edward Cocagne, and a sister, Irene Keating.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, April 25 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 108 West Adams, in Taylorville with Fr. Alan Hunter officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Assumption, IL.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville with a Prayer Service at 4:45 pm.

George Burton Upchurch of Taylorville

George Burton Upchurch  83, of Taylorville, passed away on April 20, 2014 at 1:25 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on August 13, 1930 in Crainville, IL;  the son Paul and Edna (Alexander) Upchurch. He married  Natalie Martin on July 3, 1952 in Taylorville, IL. Mr. Upchurch served his country in the  U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a Quality Assurance Supervisor for 37 ½  years with Caterpillar Tractor Co. before retiring.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville, a Life Member of Masonic Mound Lodge #122 A.F. & A.M., VFW Post #4495, the Christian County Shrine Club, Ansar Chapter #493 and Caterpillar Retirees.


He is survived by his wife, Natalie of Taylorville, sons: Michael Upchurch of Mattoon, IL and Jim (Bonnie) Upchurch of New Iberia, LA; daughters: Julie (Nelson Gulso of Kincaid, IL and Jane Hunsche of Taylorville, IL; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; several nieces, nephews and cousins.. He was preceded in passing by his parents, one brother and four sisters.

Nancy C. Cook of Taylorville

Nancy C. Cook, 69, of Taylorville, IL died at 3:25 am Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at her residence.

She was born September 3, 1944 in Danville, IL the daughter of Marvin and Marjorie Grigsby England. Nancy was a nursing technician at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital and Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville from 1973 until her retirement in 2012.

Surviving are her close friends who took care of her through her illness, Autumn Long and husband Michael, Tim Fisher, and Ina Griffin.

Graveside services will be held at 10 am Saturday, April 19 at Oak Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Linda Vonck officiating..

Vivian (Buchholz) Williams of Nokomis

Vivian (Buchholz) Williams,  89, of Nokomis, IL, passed away on April 11, 2014 at 4:45 p.m. at Prarie Rose Health Care in Pana, IL. She was born on April12, 1924 in Nokomis, IL;  the daughter of Walter E. and Mary (Schmidt)   Buchholz. She married Lloyd E. “Butter” Williams on September 26, 1944 in Nokomis, IL. He preceded her in passing on October 21, 1993. She was a retired cook from the Golden Manor Health Care in Nokomis. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Nokomis, Women’s Group and Quilting Club.


She is survived by her daughters; Carol (John) Speier of Waxahachie, TX and Cheryl Flowers of Litchfield, IL; grandchildren: Heather (Steve) Hutchins, Rhea (Jason) Dooley and Emily (Joe) Enlow; numerous great grandchildren; sister: Eleanor Barnstable of Nokomis; numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded by her parents, husband, brother: Lloyd “Tiny” Buchholz; daughter: Connie Williams; son-in-law: Robert Flowers.

Charles H. Swedick of Taylorville

Charles H. Swedick, 95 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 3:37 PM at his home.

He was born on March 31, 1919 at Taylorville the son of William C. and Alma (Bain) Swedick. He married Norma D. Cooper on February 24, 1940 at St. Charles, Missouri; she preceded him in death on January 21, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents; Son, Michael Charles Swedick; Sister and Brother in law, Emma and Merle Spaulding.

Charles was employed as a coal miner for 17 years and then with Hopper Paper Company as a paper maker, before his retirement. He was a member of VFW Post 4495 and Lakeshore Men’s Club. As an avid golfer, he was 1961 club champion at Taylorville Country Club.

Survivors include: Daughter, Penny (husband, Bob) German of Taylorville, IL; Son, William (wife, Mickey) Swedick of Kincaid, IL; 8 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; Brothers, Bob Davis of Albuquerque, NM and Bill Davis of Taylorville, IL; Many Nieces and Nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Burial will follow with military honors conducted by VFW Post 4495, Amvets Post 29 and American Legion Post 73.

Barbara Jean Durbin of Jeisyville

Barbara Jean Durbin, 62, of Jeisyville, passed away on April 9, 2014 at 5:45 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. She was born on June 22, 1951 in Jennings County, Indiana the daughter of Walter B. and Alice (Vincent)  Neville. She married Roy Thomas Durbin on May 10, 1968 in Taylorville, IL. She was a homemaker. She was a very humble woman who took great pride in her family, especially her grandchildren.


She is survived by her sons, Roy Thomas Durbin, Jr. of Kincaid, IL, Don Durbin of Taylorville, IL, Terry (Codi) Durbin of Nokomis, IL,  Todd (Chastity) Durbin of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren:  Wyatt Durbin, Morgan Durbin, Coy Durbin, Abby Bourke, Shelby Garrett,  Dayton Durbin, Ty Durbin, Christopher Durbin, Kyson Durbin; Elexis Suhre and Aryca Suhre; brother: Junior (Rusty) Neville of Witt, IL; Sisters-in-law: Rose Neville of Taylorville, IL and Jessie Neville of Kincaid; Several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded by her parents, four brothers and one sister.


Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2014 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL with Pastor Chad Foster and Pastor Louis Kunz officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL.

Bobbie Jo Niethe of Taylorville

Bobbie Jo Niethe, 45, of Taylorville, IL died at 1:59 am Tuesday, April 8, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.

She was born February 17, 1969 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Robert W. and Shirley D. Leach Niethe.

Surviving are her companion: Mandi Fathauer of Taylorville; Mother: Shirley D. Niethe of Sharpsburg; Son: Dakota Barstow and Daughter Skylur Barstow both of Taylorville; Sisters: Donna Niethe of Assumption, Debbie Niethe of Taylorville, and Dianna Ogle and husband Robert of Georgetown.  Also surviving is the father of her children, Todd Barstow of Taylorville.

There will be no formal visitation or services.  There will be a memorial gathering at Shirley Niethe’s home in Sharpsburg at 4:00 pm Saturday, April 12.

Marilyn Jean Smith of Tilden

Marilyn Jean Smith, 77, of Tilden, IL formerly of Taylorville died at 10:30 am Sunday, April 6 at her residence.  She was born October 2, 1936 in Taylorville the daughter of Jacob William and Georgia Edith Reber Emerson.  On May 29, 1954 she married Victor Lee Smith in Taylorville.  Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville and had been a cook at Head Start in Tilden.

Surviving are her husband, Victor of Tilden; Sons: James V. Smith of Taylorville and David L. Smith and wife Frances of Tilden. 3 Daughters: Mary Margaret Mize and husband Harley of Virginia, Michelle Schmidt of Peoria, and Gail Thome and husband Tom of Arvada, CO.  There are 14 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren; Brother: Tim Ray Emerson of Taylorville; Sisters: Georgia Elam of Taylorville and Betty Summers of Dixon.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 Brothers and 6 Sisters.

Private Family services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 10, at McClure Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in Glenhaven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville.

William J. Roth of Stonington

William J. Roth, 86, of Stonington, IL died at 2:30 am Sunday, April 6, 2014 at his residence.

He was born November 8, 1927 in Pana, IL the son of Emmett and Geneva Vollmer Roth.  On October 21, 1947 he married Kathryn L. Murray at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington.  Mr. Roth was a farmer, inventor, and business man. He and his wife Kathryn owned and operated Reel Manufacturing and Sales, Inc.  He greatly enjoyed his grandchildren and travelling.

Surviving are his wife, Kathryn Roth of Stonington; Son: Mark Roth and wife Diana, Fred Roth and wife Carol, Tim Roth, Ted Roth, Tony Roth and wife Tara; Sister: Florence Edmunds; Brother: Gerald Roth and wife Elaine; Grandchildren: Keely and husband Traves, Ryan and wife Danielle, Connor and wife Keri, Zachary, Greg and wife Valerie, Karen and fiancée Heidi, Emily, Joseph, Stephen, Delaney, Daniel, and Christian.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Tom Roth.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, April 11 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 308 North Pine, Stonington, IL with Father Mariadas Chatla and Father Dean Probst officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until time of service in the Church on Friday.

Darlene Blount of Morrisonville

M. Darlene Blount, 80 of Morrisonville passed away on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 12:25 AM at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

She was born on December 1, 1933 at Morrisonville the daughter of Okal and Kathryn (Friedrich) Hill. She married Robert E. Blount on August 21, 1976 at Hillsboro; he preceded her in death. Her parents and a sister, Dorothy Colbrook also preceded her in death.

Before her retirement, Darlene worked as a teller at First National Bank of Raymond. She was a member of Morrisonville United Methodist Church, 1952 graduate of Morrisonville High School and enjoyed crocheting.
Survivors include: Step son, Dale Blount of Palm Springs, CA; Sister, Evelyn Sikes of Morrisonville; Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville with Rev. Dayle Badman officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Rev. Harold Simpkins Jr. of Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, IL – The Rev. Harold Simpkins, Jr., 83, of Springfield, passed away April 3, 2014 at 2:53p.m. at Concordia Village in Springfield, Ill.

He was born October 28, 1930, in Matewan, W.Va., the son of Harold Sr. and Dollie (Hamilton) Simpkins. He married Helen Habermann on June 19, 1960 in Steeleville, Ill.  He was a United Methodist Minister for 38 years, retiring in 1993.

He received a Bachelor of Arts from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1954. He continued to study theology at Northwestern Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Ill., and graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Divinity. This is where he met his wife. He served the Lord throughout the former Central Illinois Conference of United Methodist Churches and served in the various towns of Vermillion/Clay’s Prairie, San Jose, Manito, Glenarm/New City, Williamsville, Jacksonville, Pekin, Nokomis, Virden and Moweaqua. During his 38 years in the ministry, and before his retirement in 1993, he united six churches (three two-point circuit churches) into three church congregations.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville and a former member of the Rotary Club. He and his wife, Helen, owned and operated Helen’s Travel Center, Inc., in Taylorville for nearly 25 years, where they enjoyed organizing, traveling and volunteering on mission trips to Alaska, Haiti, Russia, China, Africa, Puerto Rico, Chile and the Caribbean.  Harold enjoyed 20 years of taking church youth on camping and canoeing trips throughout the rustic and white water Canadian-boundaries.  He enjoyed being outdoors, bird watching, reading, woodworking and activities in the local church and volunteering in mission work.

Those who knew him well, would describe him as a man with a sense of humor, who would offer a friendly “hello” in passing others, and a conversationalist.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Simpkins of Springfield, Ill.; son, Mark (Jael) Simpkins of Eureka, Ill.; daughter, Joy (Jeff) Ferry of Springfield, Ill.; grandchildren: Matthew (Tracy) Simpkins, Michael Simpkins, Katie Simpkins and Sarah Nicole Ferry; great-grandson, Brantley Simpkins; sister, Joan Stewart of Matewan, W.Va.; and several nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Jack Stewart.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home in Taylorville, Ill.  A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville, Ill. A luncheon will follow at the church.

Anna Law of Taylorville

Anna Law,  85, of Taylorville, passed away on April 2, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.. She was born on April 10, 1928 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter Michael and Anna (Waitkus) Chernausky. She married John L. Law on May 6, 1954 in Taylorville, IL. He preceded her in passing on November 2, 1994. Mrs. Law was a homemaker and had worked at the Hopper Paper Mill in Taylorville, IL. She loved flowers and going to rummage sales.


She is survived by her grandson, Jason (Gerri) Poor of Taylorville, IL and Adrienne (Jason) Scott of St. Rose, IL; great grandchildren: Gabrielle Poor, Luke Poor, Dylan Leyva, Lilly Scott, Elizabeth Scott and Alyson Scott; sister: Norma (Willard) Callaway of Kincaid, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in passing by her parents, husband: John; daughter: Sharon Poor; brothers: Michael Chernausky and William Chernausky; sisters: Ella Brown and Mary Ramsey.


Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00  Noon on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Rev. Linda Vonck officiating.  Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery Cemetery in Taylorville, IL
