Margie Murleen (Griffin) Hurst

Margie Murleen (Griffin) Hurst, 69 of Lovington, IL formerly of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 6:20 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL. She was born on January 13, 1947 in Taylorville, IL the Daughter of Wilbert and Rachel (Ennis) Griffin. She married Ron Hurst on January 13, 1968 in Taylorville, IL.  Margie Grew up in Hewittville, IL and left school with only an eighth grade education. She married at age fifteen and had two daughters. After the tragic loss of her beloved Cee Cee, she returned to her roots. She met Ron and married him in 1968. They had two more children and through their forty eight years of marriage, they have loved and supported each other through the vicissitudes of life. Ron’s love allowed Margie to return to the world of education. She earned her GED and attended Richland Community College, Millikin University, Eastern Illinois University, and Sangamon State University where she earned countless scholarships and awards of academia. Margie used her Master’s Degree in English, Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish, and Master’s in Education Administration to shape young lives at Edinburg CUSD, Blue Mound CUSD, and finally at Meridian CUSD where she retired after thirty years of service in 2010. She loved poetry and she published her collection of poems, little griffin in 1983. Margie was a strong, giving, unique, and fiercely loyal woman who loved and treasured dearly all her family and extended family. More than anything she adored her grandchildren Rachel, Rick, Griffin, and Brady Ray. Margie will forever run through the hollyhocks with her beloved mother, Rachel, baby Cee Cee, and her brothers Bubby and Billy. 

 

Surviving are her Husband: Ron Hurst; Daughters: Marilana Mychelle (Danny May) Hurst of Bloomington, IL; Christel (Hurst) McQuality of Dalton City, IL; Son: Ronald Raymond (Wendy) Hurst Jr. of Harristown, IL; Grandchildren: Rachel Cyritha Hurst of Denver, CO; Brian (Rick) McQuality of Highland, IN; Griffin McQuality of Dalton City, IL; Brady Raymond Hurst of Harristown, IL; Sisters: Rose Marie Cooper and Robert of Granite City, IL; Bonnie (Sallie) Mitchelson of Taylorville, IL; Brothers: Albert Griffin of Cynthiana, IN; Michael (Jan) Griffin of Decatur, IL; Glen Ray (Sheryl) Griffin of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Daughter Rachel Cyritha (Cee Cee); Brothers: Gary Wayne Griffin and William “Tank” Griffin.

 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 10:00-12:00 noon at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Steve Robinson Officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Joshua C. Smith

Joshua C. Smith, 36, of Stonington passed away at 2:35pm on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born on February 25, 1980 in Taylorville, the son of Jerry and Martha Jarvis Smith.  Josh graduated from Taylorville High School in 1998 and most recently worked as a farm hand for B&R Farms in Stonington.  He was a member of the Old Stonington Baptist Church where he served on the Deaconate Board.  He enjoyed playing D&D, watching movies, attending Bible studies, loved spending time with his numerous friends and was a devoted father. 

He is survived by his daughter: Isobel K. Smith of Stonington; parents: Jerry & Martha Smith of Stonington; brothers: Jason B. Smith of Stonington and Jeffrey M. Smith (Sarah) of Carlinville; companion: Jessica Kersey of Blue Mound; nephews: Sawyer Smith and Augie Smith of Carlinville; and uncle: Ronald N. Smith (Nancy) of Greenville.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Charles & Melba Durbin, Richard Jarvis, and Lunette Jarvis.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at McClure Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Wayne Gilpin, Sr.

Donald Wayne Gilpin Sr., 68 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 1:15 p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur. He was born September 28, 1947 in Taylorville, IL the Son of Perry and Mary (Choquette) Gilpin. He married Sherry K Haubold on May 10, 1969 in Stonington, IL and she survives. He worked for Wagner Casting as a finish grinder and inspector and was a member of the Taylorville American Legion Post 73.
Also surviving are his Daughter: Sheila (Mark) Spivey of Cicero, IN; Son: Donald Wayne Gilpin Jr. of Mooresville, IN; Grandchildren: Lyle Wayne Gilpin, Michael Lee Spivey, and Harley Dakota Wayne Gilpin; Sister: Linda (Larry) Saulsberry of Mt. Auburn, IL; Brother: Perry Leon Gilpin of Granville, NV; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brothers: David Gilpin, Richard “Dickey Bird” Gilpin; Sister: Sandra M. Scott.  
He had served his country in the Army during the Vietnam Era. He loved fishing, playing solitaire and sharing an adult beverage with his family and friends. Most of all, he cherished his Grandsons.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Tim Hargrove Officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton, IL with full military rites.

Elena Mary Marie Gifford

Elena Mary Marie Gifford, 91, of Taylorville passed away peacefully with her family at her side at 1:28pm on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in her home.  She was born on February 28, 1925 in Edinburg, the daughter of Charles and Goldie Lipps Kimble.  She married Lyle F. Gifford in Lansing, IL.  He preceded her in death on October 13, 1971.  Elena worked many years as a realtor.  She was a devoted mother who raised 10 children.  She was baptized in the Taylorville Christian Church.  She enjoyed Bingo, sewing, crocheting, crossword puzzles and reading.  She was a member of the Illinois Realtors Association.

 

She is survived by her children: Sharon T. Griffiths (Larry) of Taylorville, Mary Lou Shanks Harris (Kirby) of Taylorville, Barbara Shanks Lancaster (Buzz) of Kincaid, Bonny Shanks Buesking (Greg) of Mt. Auburn, Anita Shanks Badman (Billy) of Palmer, Vicki Shanks Gaillard (Greg) of Waverly, Pete Shanks (Mary) of Charleston, Brenda Kimble of Bloomington, Sandra Lancaster of Taylorville, and Steven Gifford (Jacqueline) of Bloomington; grandchildren: Larry Joe Griffiths, Gina Davis, Sonny Griffiths, Jamey Griffiths, Tammy Wagahoff, Angela Dees, Jeff Graham, Lisa Durbin, Teri Deal, Kenny Badman, Molly Miller, Johnny Harris Jr., Michael J. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Chad Foster officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday.  Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Paula Cook

Paula Cook, 62 of Edinburg passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 12:25 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center  in Springfield. She was born on October 31, 1953 in Springfield, IL the Daughter of Gordon and Betty (Wolfe) Rhodes. She married James Cook on January 13, 1973 in Springfield, IL. She worked as a bookkeeper and administrator at Ameritech Phone Company.
Surviving are her Husband: James Cook of Edinburg, IL; Daughters: Brenna Boston of Edinburg, IL; Genesia (Alex) Angulo of Bossier City, LA; Sons: Garrett (Amy) Cook of Edinburg, IL; Jerrett (Hyesun) Cook of Seoul, South Korea; Grandchildren: Andrew and Connor Cook, C.J. and Jack Boston, Roman and Mateo Angulo; Four Siblings; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Sister, Brother and Grandson: Evren Angulo.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL with prayers at 2:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with MSGR. David L. Lantz Officiating. Cremation rights will be accorded following services. Inurnment will be in Edinburg Cemetery in Edinburg, IL at a later date.

William F. Lancaster

William F. Lancaster, 89, of Taylorville passed away at 10:56am on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Life’s Journey in Taylorville.  He was born on January 9, 1927 in Bulpitt, Illinois, the son of William and Mary Hardin Lancaster.  On October 23, 1948 he married Bonita B. Butcher in Taylorville.  Bill served his country in the U.S. Navy.  Mr. Lancaster worked as an electrician for Bodine and Local 146 IBEW.  He was a member of Grace Baptist Church.  Bill had a passion for working on cars.  He helped many people over the years with their engine problems.  He also was an avid racing fan and spent many years traveling to races and working as a mechanic on the race cars.  He was known for his prized English Toffee recipe.  Bill and Bonnie had many beloved dogs over the years, and he is survived by 2: Marsha & Rhoza.

 

He is survived by his wife: Bonnie Lancaster of Taylorville; brother: Jim Lancaster (Lita) of Taylorville; several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Marilyn Lazzarini, and one nephew.

Mary Eileen Weitekamp

Mary Eileen Weitekamp, age 92, of Morrisonville, passed away on Sunday April 17, 2016 at 3:05 am in Springfield at Memorial Medical Center. Mary Eileen was born January 13, 1924, in Farmersville, the daughter of the late Matthew and Lula Rowland Clarke. She married Sylvester A. Weitekamp in 1941 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville, IL. She was both a homemaker and caterer, and for some time ran Eileen’s Café in Morrisonville. She was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville and also the Forresters. She is survived by 2 sons; Tom (Kay) Weitekamp of Sullivan, IN, Larry Weitekamp of Harvel,

4 daughters: Sandi (Joe) Albers of Naples, FL, Donna (John) Madonia of Birmingham, AL, Joan (Doug) Keller of Springfield, IL, Aggie Levi of Springfield and also; 13 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren. 

 

A brother Pat (Marge) Clarke of Farmersville also survives her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Margaret Ann Weitekamp, grandson Brian Madonia, a sister Sister Mathias and brother Bernard Benson.

Visitation will be held at the St Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 20. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 21, 2016  at St Maurice’s Catholice Church with Father Jerry Bunse officiating. Burial will follow in St. Maurice Cemetery in Morrisonville. In lieu of flowers, a Mass or Memorials may be given to St. Maurice’s Catholic Church or Knights of Columbus 1151, New Table Fund. John Lawrence "Jack" Arneson

Mr. John Lawrence “Jack” Arneson, 82, of Taylorville, formerly of Peoria, died at 12:14 a.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016, in his home.

 

He was born in Morris, IL, on July 31, 1933, the son of Lawrence E. and Bernice (Connor) Arneson.  He attended Immaculate Conception Grade School, graduated from Morris High School, and then attended and graduated from Joliet Junior College. He served his country proudly in the United States Army. Jack received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from University of Illinois at Champaign. He later received his master’s degree in engineering from Bradley University in Peoria, IL. He was employed by Caterpillar, Inc, in Peoria, in the engineering department, retiring after 40 years. Jack moved to Taylorville in 2005, and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

 

Jack is survived by his sister: Rosemary Brown, of Taylorville; his nephews: William M. Brown (wife, Tara), of Irvine, CA; Robert S. Brown (wife, Julie) of Taylorville; his nieces: Rita Werner, of Taylorville; Mary Anne Oller (husband, Jeff), of Houston, TX; Kathy Driskell (husband, Dave), of Taylorville; 7 great nephews and 4 great nieces, 2 great great nieces, and 1 great great nephew. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law: William J. Brown, and one nephew, Stephen L. Brown.

 

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Jack’s devoted caregivers: Darcy Ream, Crystal Grahler, and Staci Coady.

 

A funeral mass will be held at 5:00 pm, Monday, April 18, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Taylorville, with visitation beginning at 3:30 pm. Fr. Mariadas Chatla will officiate. Committal service and burial will take place at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Morris. Joyce M. Dees

Joyce M. Dees, 69 of Taylorville passed away at 5:25 PM on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana.

 

She was born on February 12, 1947 at Taylorville the daughter of Jesse Orville and Alberta Pauline (Kessler) Oller. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; 1 Sister, Juanita Lawrence; 3 Brothers, Earl, Keith and Chuck Oller.

 

Joyce was a graduate of St. John’s School of Nursing. She previously worked as a nurse at St. John’s Hospital, Taylorville Care Center and Decatur Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Taylorville Christian Church.

 

Survivors: Daughter, Cheryl (husband, Mark) Welge of Irving, IL; Sons, Robert L. Dees of Florida and Joseph L. Dees of Taylorville, IL; 4 grandchildren, Megan M. Welge, Kayla J. Coady, Nicholas Stork and Josie Dees; Sisters, Donna Travelstead of Charleston, SC, Doris Buck, Barb (husband, Robert) McKinnon and Linda (husband, Bill) Moma all of Taylorville, IL; Brother, Albert “Butch” Oller of Decatur, IL; Several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Taylorville Christian Church. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service at Taylorville Christian Church.

Daniel Joseph Durbin III

Daniel Joseph Durbin III, 34, of Kincaid, died at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2016, in his residence.

 

Daniel was born on May 25, 1981, the son of Daniel Durbin, Jr. and Barbara Mickey. He worked as a custodian for Rochester School District. Daniel enjoyed carpentry, camping, fishing, hunting and everything outdoors. Whether it was four-wheeling, gardening, or grilling beer-butt chicken, Daniel loved to be outside. His greatest treasures were his family and children, and his Labrador Retrievers, and he will be sadly missed.

 

Surviving are: his father, Daniel J. Durbin II (fiancée, Dawn Frost) of Kincaid; mother, Barbara Mickey (husband Kevin), of Pana; his children, Kennedy and Miles Durbin, of Taylorville; sisters, Jennifer Durbin of Round Rock, TX; Vanessa Wiseman (husband Brett) of Taylorville; brother, Jacob Frost of Taylorville; former companion, Jessica Parrish of Taylorville; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, including: Tharyn Wiseman, Jaxyn Frost, and Emari Nuss. Daniel is also survived by one grandmother, Alice Mickey, of Pana.

 

Daniel was preceded in death by his grandparents: Daniel J. Durbin and Edith (Turner) Durbin, Archie and Martha Kerley, and Donald Mickey.

 

A visitation will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016, from 4 – 7 pm at McClure Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Friday at 10:00 am, also in the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to his family for his children.

Merle Monroe Cameron

Merle Monroe Cameron, 88, of Owaneco died Thursday, April 7, 2016 in Pana Community Hospital.
He was born July 30, 1927 at home in Locust Township, Christian County, the son of Madison Monroe & Pearl Berry Cameron.  A graduate of Assumption High School, Merle lived his entire life in Locust Township, Owaneco except the time he served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.  He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4431, Pana; Christian County Farm Bureau and the American Ag Movement where he took part in the tractor drive to Washington DC.  Merle was proud to be a farmer, which he loved, and never retired.  He was a Burrus Seed Corn dealer and also sold other farm supplies.  He loved his family and was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.  He also enjoyed word search and bingo. 
Merle Monroe Cameron and Armelda Ann Hendricks were united in marriage on September 7, 1952 in Taylorville. 
He is survived by his wife Armelda Cameron, Owaneco, IL; children: Mary Clucas & husband Larry, Rockford, IL;  Jean Vandenbergh & husband Jim, Jr. and Danny Cameron & wife Christy, both of Pana, IL; grandchildren: Michelle (Tyler) Christer, Pana; Christine (Haven) Cherry, Minot, ND; Laura (Blake) Hubbartt, Tower Hill, IL; Rachel Vandenbergh, Nokomis;  Ryan Vandenbergh,  Aaron Vandenbergh, Tyler Cameron, Jesse Cameron, Anna Cameron all of Pana; 2 great grandchildren:  Mackenley Christer and Logan Cherry; and by his brother Roy (June) Cameron, Greeley, CO.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents and sister Myrtle O’Brien.

Georgia "Jody" Harmon

Georgia “Jody” Harmon, 80, of Taylorville, died at 12:55 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016, in her home with her husband and family by her side.  She was born on August 9, 1935 in Taylorville, the daughter of Heil and Margaret Clevland Lowrance. On November 6, 1955 she married Elmer Harmon in the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville. Jody had worked as a legal secretary for several law offices in Decatur and Taylorville including James Jankowicz.  She was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville where she served as a mentor for children for many years.  She had a love of horses and enjoyed attending Clydesdale shows as well as hog shows with her family.  She previously served as a 4-H leader, Cub Scout leader, and tutored at Lincoln Land Community College for those working towards their GED.    

 

Along with her husband, Elmer, Jody is survived by her children: Randall Harmon (Lisa) of Moweaqua, Robert L. Harmon (Susan) of Lincoln, Linda J. Harmon-Dodge (Jack) of Lovington, and Bill Harmon (Wendy) of Morrisonville; grandchildren: Brianna Harmon, Rachel Harmon, Joshua Harmon, Greg Harmon, Kate Harmon, Cameron Harmon, and Mackenzie Harmon; step-grandchild: Justin Dodge (Tara); step-great grandchildren: Jared Dodge and Jaden Dodge.  Jody was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Cleva Lowrance.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville with Rev. Michael Evanchak officiating. Visitation will be held from 10am until service time in the church. Inurnment will be private at a later date. Memorials may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society.

Lowell L. Swearingen

Lowell L. Swearingen, 81 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 4:29 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. He was born on November 23, 1934 in Jacksonville, IL the Son of James Beverly and Hazel (Steffens) Swearingen. He married Joan Rupert on January 25, 1957 in Jacksonville, IL.  He was a beloved Teacher, Friend and Mentor for over 30 years in the Taylorville/Stonington School districts.

 

Surviving are his Wife Joan of Taylorville, IL; Son: Charles (Kristy) Swearingen of Carlinville, IL; Special Friend: Lois Hesse of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Alexander and Joey; Sister: Oueda Fairfield of Jacksonville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Son Kurt Swearingen and Brother: Gerald Swearingen.

Perry E. Wayne

Perry E. Wayne, 63 of Peoria, IL formerly of Fillmore, IL passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 11:22 a.m. at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. He was born on September 24, 1952 the Son of Samuel C and Virginia L (Hill) Wayne. He married Constance Jones on June 29, 1991 and she later preceded him in death on February 26, 2015.  He worked as a Union heavy equipment operator for Local 649 and a member of Fillmore Baptist Church in Fillmore, IL.

 

Surviving are his Son: Mike (Sheila) Donald of Peoria, IL; Daughter: Lori Donald of Peoria, IL; Alicia Donald and companion Jeff Guilaino of Peoria, IL; Mother: Virginia Wayne of Fillmore, IL; eight Grandchildren; Six Great-Grandchildren; Brothers: Raymond Wayne and companion Gena Murphy of Neoga, IL; Sister: Brenda (Jeff) Miller of Fillmore, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Father, Wife, one Daughter and one Granddaughter.

Nellie Irene Campbell

Nellie Irene Campbell, 82 of Mt. Auburn passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 7:03 p.m. at her residence in Mt. Auburn. She was born on May 19, 1933 in Lowder, IL the Daughter of Merle Wayne and Velma Lucille (Crouse) Summers. She married Don Casteel on December 24, 1948 and he later preceded her in death in October of 1965, then she married Robert Campbell on May 21, 1966 in the Southern Baptist Church in Taylorville, IL.  She worked as a homemaker living her life in Lowder, Auburn area and later in Mt. Auburn. Nellie Irene, in her younger years enjoyed bowling, Bunko, camping, playing Bingo, playing the Lottery and most recently putting jigsaw puzzles together with her husband, Bob. She and her first husband, Don, owned and operated Irene’s Cafe in Auburn in the 1960’s. She then worked as a file clerk for the State, enjoyed the benefits of selling Bee-Line clothing thru in home parties, and was a daycare provider for many children in Mt. Auburn and surrounding areas.

 

Surviving are her Husband: Robert Campbell of Mt. Auburn, IL; Sons: Robert “Gene” (Scherrie) Casteel of Mt. Auburn, IL; Step-Daughter: Teresa Campbell and companion Sherry Ferryman of Tennessee; Grandchildren: Jerry (Robin) Casteel; Jeff (Terri) Casteel; Robert Casteel Jr.; Jeanna (Brit) Lovelace; Jennifer (Wayne) Prose; Donny Casteel; Step Grandchildren: Jeff Dennis, Geri Page, Jason Brummet; Eight Great-Grandchildren; Five Step-Great-Grandchildren; Sisters: Mary Hurley, Inez (Chuck) VanHoos; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, First Husband, Son Jared Casteel; Step-Son Robert Campbell Jr., Brother: Lester Wayne Summers; Sister: Marge Lyons, Brother-in-Law: Glen Hurley; Ray Lyons.

Douglas Dieterich

Douglas Dieterich, 58 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 3:45 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on June 26, 1957 in Anchorage, AK the Son of Charles and Wanda (Isley) Dieterich. He married Rose Daykin on November 9, 1955 in Taylorville, IL.  He was employed at firestone as a bandury operator for 23 years. 

 

Surviving are his Wife Rose; Daughters: Katrina Dieterich of Taylorville, IL; Kymberli Dieterich of Taylorville, IL; Son: Joshua (Kristal) Dieterich of Taylorville, IL; Step-Daughters: Kirstie Miller of Taylorville, IL; Jennifer (Josh) Brown of Taylorville, IL; Fifteen Grandchildren; Sister: Dianne Wicklund of Decatur, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Sisters Kristie Barker, Judy Dourghty, Charlene Dieterich, Brother Michael Dieterich and Grandson: Brandon Durbin. 

 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Chad Foster Officiating. Burial will be in Ponting Cemetery in Stonington with military graveside honors.

Larry W. Fulkerson

Larry William Fulkerson 66, of Flint, MI; passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Cold Water Place in Flint, MI. He was born on November 26, 1949 in Taylorville, IL the son of William Edward and Virginia May (Seibert) Fulkerson. He was the Step-Son of the Late Clifford Eggerman.

He is survived by his Step-Brothers: Larry (Pat) Eggerman of Taylorville, IL; Ernest (Judy) Eggerman of Carthage, TX; Step-Sister: Donna Stephens of Taylorville, IL.

 

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Fraley Cemetery in Taylorville, IL with Pastor Bill Kerns officiating.

DeEtta Sherman

DeEtta Sherman, 50 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at her residence in Taylorville. She was born on April 4, 1965 in Fort Leonard Wood, MO the Daughter of Virginia Gordon. She married Robert Ginger in 1983 and they were later divorced, then she married   Vincent Sherman in 1988 and they also divorced. DeEtta worked as a homemaker.

 

Surviving are her Daughters: Amber Ginger and Fiance Johnny Carter of Decatur, IL; Heather Gordon of Taylorville, IL; Stacia (Joe) Damiano of St. Louis, MO; Constance Sherman Of Taylorville, IL; Patience Sherman of Taylorville, IL; Son: Damery L. Binkley of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Breanna, Austin, Kaylee, Kadon, Zadon, Dradon, Landon, Emily, Alex, Olivia, Alexis, Bay, Josephine; Sister: Deborah Impastato of Marissa, IL; Buffy Sims-Collins of Rantoul, IL; Brother: Gary Gordon of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents.

N. Jean Allison

N. Jean Allison, 80 of Morrisonville passed away at 5:02 AM on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

 

She was born on April 18, 1935 at Morrisonville the daughter of Carl and Bonnie (Bethard) White. She married John W. Allison on August 25, 1957 at First Presbyterian Church in Morrisonville; he preceded her in death on July 25, 2007. Jean was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Wayne White and an infant sister, Clara White.

 

Jean worked as a clerk for Franklin Life insurance Company, retiring in 1995 after many years of service. She also worked as a waitress at Truckers Homestead Restaurant for 17 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Morrisonville. Jean loved her flowers and yard.

 

Survivors: Daughters, Vickie (husband, Phillip) Broughton of Springfield, IL, Becky (husband, Eric) O’Brien of Morrisonville, IL and Tammy Allison (companion, Deanna Large) of Chatham, IL; 4 Grandchildren, Chelsey Corbett, Steve O’Brien, Kenny O’Brien and Amanda O’Brien; Brother, N. Dean White of Springfield, IL; Several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church in Morrisonville with Rev. Jim Ferrill officiating. Burial will follow at Morrisonville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 4:00-6:00 PM at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville.
