Ms. Lisa June (Graham) Kimble, 57, of Taylorville, IL passed from this life at 3:15 am Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

Graveside committal services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 30, 2022 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville.  

Lisa was born in Taylorville, IL June 14, 1964 the daughter of Otis P. “Bob” and Wanda J. (Harris) Graham.

Lisa grew up in Tovey, IL graduated from South Fork High School and attended 2 years of college at Lincoln Land.

Ms. Kimble formerly worked: at the South Fork Township Office, Century 21, Juicy Rich, as an EMS Dispatcher in Northern Illinois, the Book Binder in Girard, IL., as owner/operator of a bar in Tonica, IL., and as manager of a hotel restaurant in Cedar Point, IL.  She was a former member of Tovey United Methodist Church and had attended Midland United Methodist in Kincaid.  
Lisa enjoyed boating, canning, old country music and classic rock, and especially all the time she was able to spend at family gatherings. 

Surviving are her son Jared Graham of Taylorville, IL a granddaughter Emma Graham of Wood River, IL., a sister Angie (Tom Foster) Graham of Tovey, IL., 2 brothers Robert (Helen) Graham and Kevin (Nancy Nigh) Graham both of Taylorville, IL along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Tena Graham.

Robert Michael Hanna Sr., 73, of Taylorville, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL.

He was born on December 10, 1948, in Moline, IL the son of Robert Marion Hanna and Dorothy (Stumpf) Wyles.  Robert married Elizabeth “Betty” Marie Booker on April 30, 1976, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville. Robert worked at Lehn & Fink Products Group for 25 years where he met many good friends including Jack Barrick and son John who became his second family.  Together they lived out their passion for sprint car racing on the dirt tracks.  Robert also enjoyed fishing, hunting, guns, tinkering in his shop or working on his prize possession, his 1936 Ford Pickup.

Robert is survived by his wife: Elizabeth, son: Robert (Crystal) Hanna Jr. of Taylorville, IL., daughter: Michelle (Rex) Ring of Lebanon, MO., grandchildren: Morgan Ring, Sierra Sakautzky, Gregory Schiche, brother: Happy Hanna of Edinburg, IL., sister: Jean Petitt of Owaneco, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by parents and a sister: Susan Hanna.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, ,2022 from 5-7 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville and burial will be immediately following in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.  The family invites you for lunch and to share memories at Manner’s Park Chautauqua Pavilion after services are complete.

William “Bill” Wayne Voyles, 77, of Assumption, IL, passed away at 2:31 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022, in HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL with loved ones by his side.

Bill was born on June 11, 1944, in Todd’s Point Township, the son of Roy and Nancy (Tippit) Voyles.  He was a veteran of the United States Army.  Bill and Karen Hudson were married on December 16, 1990 and were blessed with 31 years of marriage.  Bill was a truck driver for many years retiring in the early 2000’s.  He enjoyed baling hay, tending to his farm animals, especially hogs and tinkering.  But to Bill and his loved ones, his biggest role was that of a family man, husband, father, brother and much adored grandfather and great-grandfather.  

Surviving are his loving wife, Karen Voyles of Assumption; three daughters:  JoAnna (Greg) Davis of Kapaa, HI, Emily Clark of Sullivan and Kelli (James) Davis of Rosalia, KS; six grandchildren:  Victoria “Tori”, Sarah, Hank, Haley, Jordan and Shane; five great-grandchildren; three brothers:  Dean (Phyllis) Voyles of Shelbyville, Marvin Voyles of Gays and Joe (Brenda) Voyles of Shelbyville; one sister, Karen Sue Voyles and special friend, Willy Johnson of Findlay and aunt, uncle and many nieces, nephews and cousins.   

He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece.  

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Pastor Dennis Hudson officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.  Burial will take place in Wright Cemetery, near Findlay, with military rites performed by the Clarence Bixler Post 409 of Findlay.  Memorials may be made in his name for the family and mailed to 302 W. Charles Roy Nielsen, 92, of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Taylorville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Baptist Health East Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.  He was born on August 4, 1929 in Milford, Illinois.  He married Wilma Kathryn Eminger on June 15, 1958 in Gibson City, Illinois and she preceded him in death on February 25, 2016.  Mr. Nielsen proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in agriculture and went on to work his entire career as a District Conservationist with the USDA, retiring in 1988.  He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, having served on the Board of Elders and Congregation President.  He and Wilma enjoyed square dancing, and he served as Past President of Twist & Twirl Square-dance Club.  Charles gave back to his community by spending 13 years as an elementary school mentor in the after-school program.  He enjoyed working in the great outdoors, not only as part of his career, but also in his retirement years.  More than anything, Wilma and Charles loved their family, especially their grandchildren.  

He is survived by his children: Mark C. Nielsen of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, Douglas K. Nielsen (Michelle) of Louisville, Kentucky, and Bradley A. Nielsen (Donna) of Lisle, Illinois; grandchildren: Christie Nielsen-Thompson (Sam) and Matthew Nielsen of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Tessa Nielsen and Jack Nielsen of Louisville, Kentucky, and Abigail Nielsen of Lisle, Illinois; great grandson: Wyatt Samuel Thompson; sister: Naomi Crist of Milford, Illinois; and sister-in-law: Pat Nielsen of Milford, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Mr. Nielsen will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. William Edward Tucker, 88, of Taylorville, passed away at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Aspen Creek of Sullivan.
 

Bill was born November 2, 1933 in Streator, the son of Gordon R. and Gwendolyn G. (Shaw) Tucker.  He graduated from Streator Township High School with the Class of 1951, and went to work for Commonwealth Edison.  Bill retired as Time Keeper after 36 years of employment.  

Bill was active in Taylorville sports for many years, volunteering his time as a trainer for the Junior High School and High School basketball, baseball, and football teams.  He also volunteered for Red Bland Little League for many years.  Bill was inducted into the Illinois High School Basketball Hall of Fame in 1988, as a Friend of the Sport.  He was also inducted into the Taylorville Sports Hall of Fame.

Bill enjoyed assisting with the local Boy Scouts groups as well, where he was awarded The Vigil Honor for his work with the Order of the Arrow.  He traveled to Europe many times to attend the Boy Scouts International Jamborees.  Bill was passionate about Native American history and their culture, having been adopted into a Winnebago family after their son died.  He traveled near and far to participate in various Native American Pow Wows, dances, and ceremonies. Bill also enjoyed the genealogy of both his family, and the royal family of the United Kingdom. He was a huge Fighting Illini sports fan as well. Bill was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Robert and Richard Tucker.

Bill is survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin Street, Taylorville, IL 62568.  The visitation will begin with a prayer service at 3:45 p.m.  At 6:00 p.m. a Native American Funeral Rite will be officiated by Thorpe Sine, a lifelong friend of Bill’s.

Private interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Streator, Illinois.

Donald Eugene Kendall, 76, of Edinburg, passed away at 7:18a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in his home.  He was born on July 31, 1945 in Decatur, the son of Bantford Otto and Alva Thelma (Hale) Kendall.  He married Jackie Farmer on May 17, 1983 in Taylorville.  Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1965 until 1967 and was a member of the Foursquare Pentecostal Church in Decatur.  Don had a true entrepreneurial spirit that he used to operate many successful businesses throughout the years.  He owned a variety of establishments ranging from a diner, to used car lot, limousine service, gift shop, laundromat, furniture store and even owned a farm in Tennessee.  He continued to operate a large home rental business in the Edinburg area.  

He is survived his wife: Jackie Kendall of Edinburg; sons: Shawn Kendall (Dawn) of Bloomington and Danny Whipple (Ina) of Decatur; sister: Charlene Brown (Bill) of Cisco; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Wayne, Paul, and an infant brother; sister: Christine Pickel; and stepfather: Charles Vaughn.

Audrey June (Smith) Dechert, 94 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 11:25 a.m. at her home in Taylorville, IL. She was born on June 29,1927 the daughter of Gordon E. and Ida Lucille (Miller) Smith. She married Francis Gene Dechert on April 21, 1964 and he preceded her in death in November of 1995. Audrey loved to play cards, bingo and bunco with her friends. Traveling was one of her favorite past times as well as spending time with family and friends. She worked at Walmart as a sales clerk for many years. Audrey was a member of the Stonington American Legion and the Stonington United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters: Karen (Tom) Davis of Arkansas; Deanna (Steve) Rossini of Round Lake, IL, sons: Robert Clark of Taylorville, IL and Bradley Clark of Taylorville, IL, grandchildren: Matthew Clark, Mindy Taylor, Greg Frost, Heather Davis, Derek Davis and Kaitlynn Schultz, thirteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: William Clark, sister: Beverly Beavers

David R. Brady, 37, of Taylorville, died on May 13, 2022 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL.  He was born on February 5, 1985, in Taylorville, Illinois, the son of Mark Brady and Kelly (Mahan) Salch.  He was a musician and song writer. He had a love of music, friends and family, especially his nieces and nephew. He will be known for his contagious smile, his love to make people laugh and his kind and loving soul.

David is survived by his sisters: Abby Brady and Carissa (Jon) Ramey, aunts and uncles; Mary (Bruce) Mundhenke, Mindy Herman, Skip Mahan, Bill Mahan, Cheryl Clayton, and Sandy Dunn. Cousins: Jenny Niedbalski, Jake Reber, Kacey Burton and D.J Mahan. He was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents: Dave and Sheri Brady and Ray and Geri Mahan.

Mr. Roger E. Smith, 74, of Decatur, IL formerly of Tovey, IL passed from this life at 11:34 a.m. Sunday May 15, 2022 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Jacksonville, IL December 18, 1947 the son of Edd and Maggie (Batey) Smith.
Roger graduated from Ashland High School in the Class of 1966. He soon enlisted in the U. S. Navy serving honorably during the Viet-Nam War.

Mr. Smith married Mary Lou Dean in 1971 in Jacksonville, IL.  They have enjoyed over 50 years together.
Mr. Smith previously worked as Kincaid Chief of Police, he also worked at Peabody Mine #10 near Pawnee, IL.  Roger also drove a truck for Heartland Express until he retired for good in 2008.
He was a member of Midland United Methodist Church, former Commander of American Legion Post #905 both in Kincaid, IL and a member of the U.M.W.A.  He enjoyed the work he did at the Legion, helping at the Midland United Methodist Food Pantry, playing cards, coffee with friends, the Chicago Cubs, along with spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.   

Surviving are his wife Mary, a daughter Blaine DeAnn Smith both of Decatur, IL 2 sons James A. Smith of Moweaqua, IL and Michael G. (wife Patricia) Smith of Taylorville, IL a daughter-in-law Elizabeth McLeod-Smith of Assumption, IL., 8 grandchildren Jordon Anderson, Chandler Smith, Evan Smith, Connor Smith, Kaitlyn Smith, Regan Anderson, Laela Smith and Logan Smith 2 great-grandchildren Johanna Gansbauer and Brantly Miller, 1 sister Betty Patterson of Sacramento, CA., along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 4 sisters Sylvan “Eddy” Roy, Lillian Sewell, Christine Gunderson, and Lovern Petty.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Midland United Methodist Church in Kincaid, IL., ending with Military Honors.  Pastor Randy Burwell will officiate.  Visitation for Mr. Roger E. Deborah Kay “Debbie” (Rappe) Pray, 70, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on March 13, 1952 in Taylorville, the daughter of Lyle and Mildred (Coady) Rappe. She married Kent Pray on December 26, 1976 in Taylorville. She attended St. Mary’s grade school in Taylorville and graduated from Taylorville High School in 1970. Debbie was employed by Federated Funeral Directors of Springfield and the State of Illinois for many years. She worked for the Illinois State Police and retired from the Department of Corrections in 2007. She enjoyed taking trips with her friend Bev to research genealogy. Debbie liked to talk about her trip to Ireland in June of 2015 to continue her genealogy exploration with family members. Debbie was a passionate member of the Holy Family Inclusive Catholic Community.

She is survived by husband: Kent Pray of Springfield; daughter: Jennifer Pray of Springfield; son: Jeff Pray (Yudy Hernandez Pray) of North Ogden, Utah; sister: Janet Rappe of Taylorville; and many additional family members including cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Donna Challacombe of Red Oak, Texas; and brother: Jim Rappe of Las Vegas, Nevada.

A funeral service for Debbie will take place at 2:00p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Bishop Mary Keldermans officiating. Joseph “Joey” Cavatorta III, 47, of Assumption, passed away on Thursday, May 12 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. 

He was born on September 26, 1974 in Springfield to Joseph Cavatorta, Jr. and Florence Lou Verda “Verdie” (Hamell) Cavatorta. He married Jordan Lefever on October 12, 2013 in Navarre Beach, FL in a beautiful beach ceremony surrounded by friends and family. Whatever Joey did, he did passionately. At 17, he started his first business, Three C’s Collectibles, with his father in Taylorville, IL. At 36, he opened Crossroad Car Connection in Shelbyville, IL and ran it successfully for ten years. He was very proud of both businesses and loved being his own boss. He was also active in education, working with special-needs children and later as a substitute teacher at Central A&M, where he often ran into his daughter in the halls long enough for a quick hug. Joey was a knowledgeable and talented musician – songwriter, guitar player, and singer. He recorded an album of original songs with the band Can’t Imagine and co-founded the band The Remedy with friends, going on to play with them for 17 years. He was a great collector of vinyl and had a vast knowledge of rock, classical, and jazz. Later, he combined his love of music and teaching by giving music lessons to kids. Joey also loved to golf – the game itself as well as the beauty and peacefulness of the golf course.

 Family was everything to Joey, and no one more than the light of his life, his daughter Jolie Renee. He became a father later in life and truly relished the job. They went geocaching together and read bedtime stories, and he was always present at her many sports and activities, never missing a chance to drive Jolie in parades during her reign as Little Miss Christian County.

 Joey was always giving back to his family, friends, and community, and with his death, he chose to continue giving of himself through being an organ donor (through Gift of Hope) to help others live.
 Joey is survived by his wife, Jordan; daughter, Jolie Renee; father, Joseph Cavatorta and stepmother, Sharon Cavatorta, both of Mount Carmel, IL; brother, Gregg (Dawn) Crites of Taylorville, IL; stepbrothers, Chad (Ashley) Cobb of Manchester, OH and Josh (Megan) Cobb of Booneville, IN; stepsister, Danielle Hall of Chandler, IN; thirteen nephews; and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother.

A visitation for Joey will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, 327 N. Clay, Taylorville, IL 62568. Funeral services will immediately follow, Pastor James Baldwin officiating. Shirley Lavonne Clark, 84, of Taylorville, passed away at 1:00a.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.  She was born on August 8, 1937 in Taylorville, the daughter of Dessie and Effie (Stephens) Clark.  She previously worked at Walmart and prior to her retirement worked as a receptionist at Sloan’s West in Taylorville.  Shirley loved to travel, and a trip to Ireland was always a favorite memory of hers.  She enjoyed going out to eat with friends and the occasional gambling trip and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.  More than anything, she adored her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son: Robert Clark of Taylorville; grandchildren: Zachary Clark, Cass Beard, and Lennon Clark; siblings: Kenny Mahan (Frieda) of Taylorville, Dick Mahan (Ellen) of Taylorville, and Ron Mahan (Gerry) of Edinburg; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Jarrod Clark; siblings: Bob Mahan, Helen Mahan, and Dale Mahan; and previous husband: John W. Clark.

Helen L. Beckmier, 92, of Taylorville, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 10:18 am at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville, IL. She was born on September 15, 1929 in Morrisonville, Il to Sam and Lela (Rathgeber) Jenkins. She married Lyle C. Beckmier on October 23, 1948 in Shiloh United Methodist Church in rural Morrisonville, Il. and he preceded her in death on April 11, 2015. Helen was a member of Taylorville Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star and Christian County Home Extension.
Helen is survived by her Son: Dennis (Kathy) Beckmier of Humboldt, IL, Grandchildren: Craig (Michelle) Beckmier and Tucker (Megan) Beckmier, Great Grandchildren: Logan, Tanner, Kade and Ryker Beckmier and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Great-Granddaughter: Kiley Beckmier, Brother: Ray Jenkins and Sisters: Loraine Martin and Marjorie Rogler.

Linda Kay Wagahoft, 68 of Taylorville, died at 3:10 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022 at her home. Born in Taylorville on December 28, 1953, Linda was the daughter of Ernie and Betty (Haden) Nation. She graduated from Taylorville High School where she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Paul Wagahoft. They married on December 24, 1971 at Taylorville First United Methodist Church, and they’ve been best friends ever since. Linda was an avid gardener and loved her flowers. She enjoyed attending car shows with her husband. She was fun-loving and outgoing, and she will be deeply missed. 

In addition to her husband of almost 50 years, Linda is survived by her two sons: Stoney Wagahoft of Springfield and Ernie Wagahoft of Taylorville; two brothers: Tim (Susan) Nation of Springfield, and David Nation of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Mike Nation.

James Edward “Eddie” Tirey, 67 of Taylorville, passed away at 7:24p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022.  He was born on December 15, 1954 in Stonington, the son of Floyd Leslie and Geneva Marie (Jones) Tirey.  He married Diane Coady on June 8, 1973 in Taylorville.  Eddie worked at Bob Ridings Ford for over 40 years where he retired as Body Shop Manager, a position he held for many years.  He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus where he served as Grand Knight.  He gave back to his community in many ways including serving as May Township Trustee, an election judge, and member of the Taylorville Optimist Club.  In his free time, he enjoyed fishing at Lake of the Ozarks, boating with family on Lake Taylorville, and he was most proud of being Papa Eddie and watching his grandchildren grow.  

He is survived by his wife: Diane Tirey of Taylorville; sons: Kevin Tirey (Jennifer) of New Berlin and Brian Tirey of Charleston; grandchildren: Riese Tirey, Flynn Tirey, and Katharine Tirey; sisters: Anna Collins and Elsie Durbin both of Taylorville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Roy Tirey, Thelma Weaver, Judy Brown, John Tirey, Brenda Spoon, Richard Tirey, and Betty Hicks.

Beverly Joann Cascio, 90 of Mt. Vernon, formerly of Taylorville, passed away at 7:20a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.  She was born on March 2, 1932 in Mt. Auburn, the daughter of Ralph and Ola Kathleen “Kitty” (Kerney) Smith.  She married John A. Cascio on April 29, 1972 in Stonington, and he preceded her in death on July 20, 2001.  Joann was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Joann worked in retail throughout her life, including at the Taylorville Walmart.  She loved to go for drives and never missed a chance to eat at Country Kitchen.  She loved to travel, especially to Walt Disney World.  Spending time at the ocean watching the sun set was also a favorite of Joann’s.  She was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.  

She is survived by her children: Beverly Lawler-Cowan (Mark) of Mt. Vernon, Mari Jo Cascio of Johnson City, and Mitchel Cascio of Pittsburg; step children: Mike Cascio of Mansfield, Scott Cascio of Pennsylvania, Laura Orcutt of Champaign, and Lisa Montiliel of New York; several grandchildren including: Deanna Isaiah and Kyle Lewis; foster son: Roger Huette; sisters: Helen Daley of Michigan and Dorothy Speagle of Taylorville; and several cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Alan Lawler; and sister: Pam Nave.

Ilene Rose Walters, 82, longtime resident of Taylorville died on Monday May 9, 2022 7:40 am at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL after a sudden and recent illness. Ilene was born on May 8, 1940 in Carlinville, Il to parents Irvin and Irene W. (Fowler) Fisher. She married Earl Walters on June 19, 1960 in Carlinville, Il. and had a long and fulfilling career as a legal secretary and bank teller.

Her memory lives on with her husband Earl Walters of Taylorville; daughter Susan (Randy) Kemplin of Le Roy, Il; son Steve (Rhonda) Walters of Taylorville; grandchildren: Mick Schaub, Blake (Kate) Walters, Morgan Schaub, Ashlee Kemplin; sisters Margaret Bierman of Godfrey, Il, Irene (Don) Brown of Chesterfield, Il, Christine Nejmanowksi of Carlinville, Il, Debra (Tom) Morris of Wilmington, NC. She will be reunited with her parents, brother Jack Fisher, and sister Wilma Speaks.

Ilene was a proud and loving mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her family. The simplest pleasures in life brought her great joy; she loved roses, gardening, and hummingbird watching. Her grandchildren will always remember the special foods she liked to make for them and the laughter she brought them.

Mark O’Bryan, 59 of Taylorville, passed away at 10:01p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022 in his home.  He was born on March 8, 1963 in Springfield, the son of Joseph Richard and Marilyn Ruth (Spresser) O’Bryan.  He married Wendy Lee Hunt on November 22, 2008 in Taylorville.

Mark worked at Buhler Design Corrugating and previously worked at Kennedy Metal Products.  Mark and Wendy were co-owners of Taylorville Monogram for the last 12 years.  Mark was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing locally and from a young age, enjoyed countless salmon fishing trips to Michigan.  He also loved spending time outside gardening and had a passion for fireworks.  

He is survived by his wife: Wendy O’Bryan of Taylorville; stepson: Toby Schulte (Shelby) of Illiopolis; granddaughter: Paisley Schulte; siblings: John O’Bryan (Stephanie) and Loretta O’Bryan both of Taylorville; nieces and nephew: Kelly Schmitz of St. Louis, Trevor O’Bryan of Taylorville, and Chelsey O’Bryan of Springfield; great nephews: Rafe, Kyle, Dane, and Reid Schmitz; and mother-in-law: Delores Hunt of Taylorville.  He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law: William Hunt.

Donna Kay McArdle, 76 of Taylorville, passed away at 9:50a.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Taylorville Care Center.  She was born on May 21, 1945 in Taylorville, the daughter of William Norton and Edith Lorraine (Spain) VanHooser.  She married Clarence Eugene McArdle on June 24, 1961 in Taylorville.  Donna loved bird watching and enjoying the beauty of spring flowers and trees.  She and her sisters shared a pastime of putting together jigsaw puzzles, and she completed hundreds over the years.  She was an avid antique collector.  She had many prized collections including depression-era glass, figurines, and more that she meticulously documented and catalogued.  More than anything, she and Clarence loved to travel.  Together they visited the 48 contiguous states and much of Canada.  They were never afraid to drop what they were doing to visit a new destination.  Taking an hours-long drive simply to eat dinner was not uncommon at all for them.  While interstate travel was quicker, they enjoyed the beauty and discovery that the backroads had to offer.  Donna’s favorite state to visit was Utah, to take in the majestic beauty of the colorful rock formations.  On a visit to South Dakota, they ended up visiting the Crazy Horse Memorial and became instantly enamored in its grandeur.  They made several return trips to the monument, supporting its creation, and on one trip, they were gifted a 700-pound stone from the site that they proudly loaded in their truck, and brought it to their home to display.  

She is survived by her husband: Clarence Eugene McArdle of Taylorville; sons: Norman Eugene McArdle (Cheryl) of Smyrna, Delaware and Charles Patrick “Chuck” McArdle of Taylorville; grandchildren: Jennifer Lynn Lewis (Aaron) of Dover, Delaware, Mark Timothy McArdle of Rockville, Maryland, and Jamie Lee Embert (Eric) of Smyrna, Delaware; great-grandchildren: Joshua Embert, Noah Embert, Eli Embert, Ashlynn Bell Lewis, and Landon Lewis; siblings: Rhea “Sue” Beaird and Charles VanHooser (Pat) all of Taylorville; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: William VanHooser and Sharon Marshall.

Bonnie Wareham, 92 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 4:07 a.m. at Hickory Estates in Taylorville, IL. She was born on November 15, 1929 in Nokomis, IL, the daughter of Harold and Madeline (Slater) Vedder. She married Donald Orville Wareham on January 25, 1948 in the Nokomis United Methodist Church in Nokomis, IL and he preceded her in death on March 15, 2017. Bonnie graduated from Nokomis High School in 1947 and was a homemaker.

Patricia Beynon Southard, 79 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 10:50 a.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born on May 1, 1943 in Buffalo, New York. The daughter of Dorothy Meade Beynon and Charles Beynon. She married Richard Southard in 1967.Went to Kenmore West High School class of 1961. She attended Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia where she got a Degree in Applied Piano. Then went back to get her second Degree in Nursing, class of 1967.  She spent most of her working career as a hospice nurse even working as an RN for St. Vincent Memorial Home Hospice for many years.  Enjoyed memorable trips with her family to Vermont when she was younger. Loved to sing in the church choir/chorus in any church she attended. Enjoyed playing the piano. Was a huge fan of the Buffalo Bills.

She is survived by her Daughter: Jennifer Southard of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Gage Rickman of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, Tylor Gesell of Taylorville, IL; Ryhus Buckler of Taylorville, IL; Greatgrandchildren; baby of Gage and Gaby Rickman; Sister: Polly Beynon James of Poughkeepsie, New York. Nieces and Nephews: LeeAnne Pritchard Jones, Paulette Van Dam, Lynne Pritchard Timperio, Charles Pritchard. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Janet Louise Brown, 77, of Morton, formerly of  Taylorville, passed away on April 19, 2022 at OSF Saint  Francis Medical Center, surrounded by her family. 

Born on July 12, 1944, Janet was the daughter of  Raymond and Lois (Peterson) Fight. She married Carl E.  Brown on October 12, 1984 in Peoria. He preceded her in  death on January 9, 2021. 

Janet is survived by one daughter, Jodie (David) Simpson  of South Pekin; 2 sisters, Patricia West of Peoria; Carla (Pete Fogelberg) Fight of St. Charles, MO. She had 3  grandchildren; Cody, Jennifer & Heather. 3 great grandchildren; Lilith, Titan & Kamden. Also surviving was  her beloved cat BB (Betty Boop), who was her world. 

Janet graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1963.  She drove a school bus for IVC District 321 for many  years. She was an avid CUBS fan and enjoyed gardening  and riding her bike. She loved spending time with her  family and her “Golden Girls”. She will be remembered  for her outgoing personality and her sense of humor. She  loved meeting people and making people smile. 

Cremation rites have been entrusted to Cumerford-Clary  Funeral Home in Peoria,IL. Burial will be held at a later  date in Taylorville,IL.

Mark Louis Washburn, 56 of Taylorville, passed away at 6:58a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Prairie Rose Health Care Center in Pana.  He was born on August 13, 1965 in Pana, the son of Lloyd S. and Hilda “Bea” (Blount) Washburn.  Mark received his high school diploma in Taylorville and went on to work for over 30 years at the Christian County Mental Health Association Workshop, a job he dearly loved.  Mark had a vibrant personality and had a true love of life.  He never met a stranger and could remember a person’s birthdate immediately.  He enjoyed attending dances, singing, and never missed an opportunity to go out to eat.  He participated in Special Olympics for many years and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Cubs, Bears, and Illini.  He was dearly loved by his family by whom he will be missed.  

He is survived by his siblings: Debbie Menn (Rodger) of Ames, Nebraska, and Lloyd Washburn (Brenda) of Pana; sisters-in-law: Nora Washburn of Rosamond and Rene Corso of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Michael, Ted, and Daniel Washburn; and grandparents: J.C. & Nannie Blount and Zenith and Margie Washburn.

Bryce Boaden, 36, of Pontoon Beach, formerly of Taylorville, passed away unexpectedly at 1:11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
 
Bryce was born February 24, 1986 in Springfield, the son of Deborah Fleming and Rob Boaden.  He graduated from Taylorville High School with the Class of 2004, and went on to receive his Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Lincoln Land Community College.  Bryce worked for Christian County Mental Health for many years, before recently gaining employment with Services By Design, where he worked in a supervisory role caring for cognitively disabled adults.  He loved his job, and the people he was able to help every day.

Bryce was a great father, and he loved spending time with his daughter.  He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers fan.  Bryce was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Robert and Maureen Fleming, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Daris and Blanche Boaden; step-father, Donald L. Stivers; uncles, Robert Fleming, Jr. and Mike Sanders; and aunt, Pam Grant.

Bryce is survived by his daughter, Makilynn Hague-Boaden of Taylorville; brother, Brandon (wife, Patrice) Boaden of Newberg, OR; nieces and nephews, Brandon Boaden, Jr., Isabella Boaden, and Parker Boaden; aunts, Kathy (husband, Dean) Ray of Taylorville, Suzzy Cocagne of Taylorville, Marty Sanders of Taylorville, Helga Fleming of Taylorville, Jim (wife, Marilyn) Boaden of Missouri, and Penny (husband, Jack) Brown of Taylorville; significant other, Monica Johnson of Pontoon Beach; and several cousins.

Visitation & Memorial Ceremony: The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin Street, Taylorville, IL 62568, with Sr. Rose McKeown officiating.

Inurnment will follow the ceremony at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery in Morrisonville.

Gerald D. Cross, 88, of Morrisonville, passed away at 6:09 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
 
Gerald was born August 9, 1933, in Coulterville, the son Roy and Etta Mae Cross.  He married Beverley Ann (Newingham) Walden on December 28, 1987, and they have enjoyed over 34 years of marriage.

Gerald worked for over 30 years as a coal miner at Peabody #10, and he was a member of the UMWA. He was an avid outdoorsman, having enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping.  Gerald especially loved raising hunting dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Leah Stone; and step-sons, Walter and Randy Walden.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Beverley Cross of Morrisonville; children, Barbara (husband, Bill) Chamberlain of Kissimmee, FL, Norma Cross of Taylorville, and Michael (wife, Cherrie) Cross of Mineral Wells, TX; step-sons, Dennis (wife, Della) Walden of Jacksonville, Steven Walden of Jacksonville, Kenny Walden of Meredosia, Craig (Shannon Smith) Walden of Morrisonville, Neil (wife, Alice) Walden of Morrisonville, and Andy Walden of Morrisonville; special grandson, Jess and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and special son, Jeff Castille of Illiopolis.

Private burial will be held at Morrisonville Cemetery.
