Gail A. Keen

Gail Ann Keen, 67 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 12:30 a.m. at her residence in Taylorville. She was born August 30, 1948 in Taylorville, IL the Daughter of Paul and Lucille (Langlet) Salmons. She married Merlin Clouter and he later preceded her in death in 1981 and then she married Franklin R. Keen on December 14, 1984 in Decatur, IL.  She worked as a homemaker.

 

Surviving are her Daughter: Ryne Allison Clouter and companion Rick Kennedy of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Peyton Kennedy and Kaden Kennedy both of Taylorville, IL; One Sister; One Brother; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, first husband, and her grandparents.

 

There will be a Celebration of Life and Inurnment at a later date

Delmar C. Zeitler

Delmar C. “Zeke” Zeitler, 84 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 5:15 a.m. at Taylorville Estates in Taylorville. He was born November 23, 1931 in Brownstown, IL the Son of Claude and Pearl (Friese) Zeitler. He married Judy Cook on June 23, 1950 in Taylorville, IL. He was a retired Line Foreman for CIPS and a member of Mound Lodge 122 AF & AM.

 

Surviving are his Wife: Judy of Taylorville, IL; Son: Mike (Lori) Zeitler of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Jeremy (Colleen) Zeitler of Naperville, IL; Kurt Zeitler and Companion Caitlin Donovan of Taylorville, IL; Great-Grandchildren: Ava, Mazy, Van and Amelia; Niece: Mary Friese; Nephews: Ron Griffith and Gale Griffith. He was preceded in death by his Parents and his Sister: Clara Slater.

 

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 31, 2016 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Rev. Tom Bellegante Officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Rhonda J. Kraft

Rhonda Joyce Kraft, 61, of Taylorville passed away at 2:52pm, on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield following a courageous battle with  ovarian cancer.  She was born on September 16, 1954 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of Byron Clark and Doris Lincoln Clark Dancy. 

 

Rhonda graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1972.  She attended Lincoln Christian College and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Sangamon State University.

 

She was a devoted homemaker before beginning work as a librarian at West Elementary School.  She also served as a substitute teacher in the Taylorville School District.  In 1998, Rhonda began her career as a Branch Office Administrator for Edward Jones in Taylorville where she assisted hundreds of clients, many of whom she considered good friends.

 

She later expanded her long-time interest in nature and horticulture by earning a Master of Arts degree in Environmental Studies from University of Illinois at Springfield in 2010.  She served on the Taylorville Tree Board where she spearheaded raising funds and organizing volunteers to replace trees in various public areas around the town. She also volunteered as a guide for the annual Oak Ridge Cemetery Tree Tour in Springfield.

 

Rhonda diligently pursued home improvement projects, proudly making every house a home for her family.  She took great pride in her yard and provided a depth of knowledge to her family, friends and neighbors on nearly all plant life, specifically flowers. 

 

She was an active member of Taylorville Christian Church for many years and recently attended Grace Baptist Church. She also enjoyed poetry, philosophy, playing the piano and in recent years, learning about health and diet issues related to her fight with cancer.  She was an animal lover, especially to her beloved cat, Poppy.  Most of all, she was a devoted mother and Christian who loved spending time with her family and friends, following all of lifes developments with faith, wisdom and love.

 

She is survived by her beloved children: Alison Nottmeier (Kyle) of St. Louis, MO, Nolan Kraft (Katie) of Villa Park, IL, and Landon Kraft of Taylorville; grandson: Jack Kraft of Villa Park; mother and step-father: Doris and Mac Dancy of Lincoln, IL, siblings: Neil Clark (Cynthia) of Atlanta, IL, Tim Clark (Pam), Reva McFadden (Kevin), and Stan Clark (Lisa) all of Lincoln, IL; sister-in-law: Gail Clark of Lincoln, IL; step-sisters: Ruth Todd of Springfield, IL and Joyce Dancy of Lincoln, IL. She is also survived by her former husband, Kelly Kraft of Taylorville. They were married on April 7, 1979 at Westside Christian Church in Springfield, IL. She was preceded in death by her father Byron Clark and brother Norm Clark.

 

The funeral service will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, March 31 at Lincoln Christian Church in Lincoln, IL with Rev. James W. Pope

James Wesley Pope, 80 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 3:40 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on June 21, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY the Son of Oliver and Delphia Mae (Humphrey) Pope. He married Linda Stephens on August 28, 1955 in Hernando, Mississippi.  He was a retired Mechanic for Growmark FS Inc. in Springfield, IL. He loved his family deeply and worked hard for them. He loved his motorcycle and going to races with his friends as long as he could. James was a charter member of the Edinburg E-Squares square dancing club, and a former member of the Edinburg American Legion and Edinburg Lions Club. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army.

Lorna K. Blount

Lorna K. Blount, 63 of Morrisonville passed away at 5:00 AM on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at her home with her family by her side.

 

She was born on July 29, 1952 at Decatur the daughter of Loren and Beulah (Stockdale) Chapman. She married Charles Alan Blount on March 5, 1977 at the Cowden Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; Son, Doug Blount; Grandson, Evan Blount; Sister, Cheryl Lynn Chapman and a brother, Dan Chapman.

 

Lorna was a homemaker. She also worked as a tax preparer and a quilt instructor at Main Street Quilt Shop in Shelbyville and while her and Alan wintered in Texas. She was a member of Taylorville Christian Church, DAR, American Quilters Society, Land of Lincoln Quilters Association, Christian County Quilters Guild, Decatur Quilt Guild and Shoal Creek Ladies Golf League where she served as treasurer. Lorna had a passion for quilting. She recently had an entry excepted to the American Quilters Society Quiltweek show and contest to be held at Paducah, KY in April 2016. She was also served as an election judge for many years.

 

Survivors: Husband, Charles Alan Blount of Morrisonville, IL; Son, Loren (wife, Vicki) Blount of Morrisonville, IL; Daughter, Dyanne (husband, Lee) Skinner of Taylorville, IL; 5 grandchildren, Hannah, Trey, Kole, Abigail and Aaron; Brothers, Rex (wife, Peggy) Chapman of Pana, IL and Paul (wife, Debbie) Chapman of Greenbrier, AR; Mother in law, Wanda Blount of Taylorville, IL; Sister in law, Peggy Blount of Sarasota, FL and several nieces and nephews.

Jesse O. Jones Jr.

Jesse O. Jones Jr., 88 of Morrisonville passed away at 2:15 AM on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

 

He was born on May 18, 1927 at Metropolis, IL the son of Jesse O.  and Emma (Lowe) Jones Sr. He married Rosa L. Williams on October 9, 1945 at Paducah, KY; she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 1 sister.

 

Jesse was a member of the Carpenters Union in Maywood, IL and retired as Job Superintendant after many years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Kiwanis where he served as State Lieutenant Governor in 2003 and 2004 and 2 terms as president. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW, Leslie Reddick American Legion Post and the Moose Lodge. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morrisonville, attended Triton College and was a former Morrisonville Town Board member. Jesse had a passion for music and was an accomplished vocalist.

 

Survivors: Daughter, Nancy (husband, Bud) Jones of Taylorville, IL; 4 grandchildren, Elizabeth Jones, Raymond (Danelle) Jones, Robin (Bob) Riggs and Tina (Brian) Herman; 14 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; 1 nephew.

 

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Morrisonville with Rev. Jim Ferrill officiating. Burial will follow at Morrisonville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the First Presbyterian Church in Morrisonville.

Jerry Reinders

Jerry Reinders, 84 of Springfield passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 4:22 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born May 10, 1931 in Athens, IL the Son of John and Grace (Maxwell) Reinders. He married Louise Minks on May 18, 1957 in the Owaneco United Methodist Church in Owaneco, IL.  He worked as a Customer service representative and a manager at IBM. Jerry was also a Veteran serving in the United States Navy.

 

Surviving are his Wife Louise of Springfield, IL; Daughters: Connie Reinders of Osage Beach, MO; Debra Reinders of Phoenix, AZ; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brother: Henry Reinders, Sisters: Fannie Murphy and Helen Scott.

 

Visitation will be held Friday, March 18, 2016 from 11:00-12:00 Noon at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Michael Koschmann Officiating. Mark F. Marsaglia

Mark Franklin Marsaglia, 50, of Taylorville, passed away at 3:51 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

 

Mark was born on November 6, 1965 in Taylorville, the son of Franklin and Martha (Beaty) Marsaglia. He married Stephanie Major on December 28, 2012 in Stonington, and she survives. Mark graduated from Lincoln Land College and UIS, and worked as a computer analyst/programmer for Horace-Mann. Mark enjoyed sports, and he was an avid Cardinals fan, a fan of Illini, the Cowboys, NASCAR, and he enjoyed watching NCAA during March Madness. Mark was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and he will be dearly missed.

 

Along with his wife, Mark is survived by his parents; his children: Bryce Marsaglia, of Taylorville, and Victoria (Garrett) Wilson, of Edinburg; step daughters: Brooke (Noah) Miller of Terra Haute, IN, Taylor (Joey) Babich of Cape Girardeau, MO, Morgan Snead of Normal, IL, Madison Snead of Decatur, IL; and one granddaughter: Adalyn Grace Babich. Mark is also survived by one brother: Mike (Kiley) Marsaglia of Chatham; one nephew: Lucas Marsaglia; and one niece: Sophia Marsaglia, as well as many cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by two children in infancy, several aunts, uncles, and his grandparents.

 

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, March 16, 2016, with a visitation two hours prior to service time, at Joy Assembly Church in Stonington. Burial will be private and take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to his family. McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

Esther R. Smith

Esther R. Smith, 97 of Olathe, KS formerly of Stonington, IL passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Royal Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Olathe, KS. She was born on August 26, 1918 in Stonington, IL the Daughter of Lloyd and Grace (Buis) Covington of Stonington. He married Ulysses S. “Sol” Smith on December 30, 1948  and he later preceded her in death on October 18, 1999 in Walnut Creek, CA.  She began her working experience at the Studebaker Dealership in Stonington and she last worked at Boeing in Seattle, WA. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Vallejo, CA.

 

Surviving are her Nephew, Dale W. & Judy E. Foster of Gardner, KS; Niece, Delores N. (& Don) Miller of Peeples Valley, AZ; and Niece, Esther L. (& Dave) Jeffreys of Benbrook, TX

Edith M. Henderson

Edith M. Henderson, 100 of Bolivia, IL passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 7:52 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born May 30, 1915 in Mechanicsburg, IL the daughter of Dave and Margaret (Dobson) Dillon. She married Johnnie Prior on March 29, 1933 in Mt. Auburn Christian Church and he later preceded her in death in 1961. She then Married Arthur Roy Henderson on January 9, 1971 in Springfield, IL and he preceded her in death in 2000.  She worked as a nurse’s aid in the premature baby center in St. Johns hospital in Springfield, IL.

 

Surviving are his Daughters: Wanda (Melvin) Howard of Bolivia, IL; Lois (Gary) Adams of Rural Mt. Denise L. Vincent

Denise Lynn Vincent, 61 of Edinburg passed away on March 10, 2016 at Auburn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Auburn, IL. She was born July 28, 1954 to Chuck and Rosemary Vincent of Edinburg. 

 

Denise was the life of Edinburg. She enjoyed walking up to the restaurant and having coffee with the ladies every morning, talking to everyone she met and babysitting all her nieces and nephews, then great nieces and nephews. She loved to play Bingo, Country Music, Bowling and participated in several Special Olympic activities over the years. Most of all, Denise loved spending time with her family.  She is survived by one sister Deidra (Charles) Gribbins of Edinburg, two brothers Richard Vincent and Duane Vincent both of Edinburg. She had five nieces and nephews, Risha Vincent of Minnesota, Ami (Ben) Newman of Missouri, Eric (Stacey) Vincent of Springfield, Tricia (Randy) Patterson and Matt (Tiffany) Gribbins of Edinburg. She also had 12 great grand nieces and nephews that she adored with all her heart.  A celebration of life party will be held this summer.

Katelyn "Katie" N. Emerson

Katelyn “Katie” Nicole Emerson, 25 of Taylorville passed away unexpectedly at 8:15 AM on Wednesday, March 9, 2016.

 

She was born on July 10, 1990 at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital in Taylorville the daughter of Frank and Mickey (McDonald) Emerson Jr. She was preceded in death by her sister, Christine Diane Emerson; Her Poppy, Frank T. Emerson Sr. and an uncle, John Damarin.

 

Katie loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, archery and she was a bow & arrow markswomen. She loved playing sports such as soccer, basketball and volleyball. She also coached YMCA soccer.

 

She was musically talented. She played alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, electric bass, stand up bass, guitar and violin. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and sang in the church choir. She played in the community Praise band. She was also a member of Women of the Moose #1263 in Taylorville.

 

Katie graduated from Taylorville High School in 2008. She received her associate degree from Lincoln Land Community College. She then attended Olivet Nazarene University and received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing. She worked at St. John’s Hospital in the orthopedic department. Katie earned the prestigious white rose award and the guardian angel award. Katie was very devoted to the Community Based Instruction programs in the Taylorville Schools where she continued to substitute and volunteer as a chaperone for social activities.

 

Survivors: Parents, Frank Jr. and Mickey Emerson of Taylorville, IL; Sister, Stephanie (fiancé, Freddie Goodrich III) Emerson of Taylorville, IL; Brother, F. Thad Emerson of Taylorville, IL; God-sister, Abby Green and her children Lola and Logan House of St. Louis, MO; Grandparents, David L. and Pat McDonald and Bea Emerson all of Taylorville, IL; Aunts, Jean McDonald of Edinburg, IL, P.J. Mark L. Herman

Mark L. Herman, 62 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 3:36 p.m. at his residence in Taylorville. He was born September 30, 1953 in Taylorville, IL the Son of Tom and Vernie (Rogers) Herman I. He married Paula Durbin in 1972 and they later divorced then he married Colleen Kennedy and they later divorced and then he married Lori Harvel in 1988 in Key West Florida and they later divorced also.  He was a retired Coal Miner at Peabody Mine #10 and he was an Artist, Musician and Ordained Minister.

 

Surviving are his Daughters: Vanessa (Clayton) Sylvester of Taylorville, IL; Carrie (Matt) Snow of Taylorville, IL, Mallory Herman of Springfield, IL, Shelby Herman of Edinburg, IL; Grandchildren: Megan, Justin, Morgan and Ava Sylvester, Devon Wemple, Joey Dobyns, Jayce Snow, Nolyn Westbrook; Great Granddaughter: Addison Sylvester; Sister: Connie Havener of Taylorville, IL; Brothers: Tom (Lucille) Herman II of Taylorville, IL; Brian (Tina) Herman of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents.

David R. Sullivan

 

David Roy Sullivan, 72 of Morrisonville passed away at 4:39 PM on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at his home with his family by his side.

 

He was born on November 23, 1943 at Decatur the son of J. Roy and Marjorie (Schmedeke) Sullivan. David married Diane McWard on October 26, 2002 at Havana, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

David was a lifelong farmer in the Morrisonville area. He was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church and a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council 1151. He was founding board member of PMRA, former member of St. Maurice School Board and Morrisonville School Board and past member of Christian County Soil and Water Conservation District. He was also a former active member of Cursillo.

 

Survivors: Wife, Diane Sullivan of Morrisonville, IL; Daughters, Pam (Mike) Durbin of Ft. Betty L. Southard

Betty Lou Southard, 85 of Taylorville passed away at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Taylorville Care Center.

 

She was born on September 10, 1930 at Warsaw, Illinois the daughter of Virgil and Helen Brownlee. She married William Southard on December 15, 1968 at Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 grandson and a brother, Junior Brownlee.

 

Betty was a homemaker and kept the books for their family business, Southard Tree Service. She loved her grandchildren and wildlife was her joy in life.

 

Survivors: Husband, William “Bill” Southard of Taylorville, IL; Son, Mike (Tammy) Walker of Taylorville, IL; Daughters, Lynda (Dan) Peddycourt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Pat (Jeff) Grote of Shelbyville, IL, Janet (Ron) Walker of Keokuk, Iowa and Carolyn (Brett) Ruch of New London, WI; 10 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild.

Dorothy M.D. Peitrowski

 

Dorothy May (Slagel) Daniels Peitrowski, 98 of Tower Hill passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 4:15 a.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur. She was born February 8, 1918 in Morrisonville, IL the Daughter Rupert and Mary (Freese) Slagel. She married Avera Daniels Sr. and he later preceded her in death in 1952. She then married Stanley Peitrowski and he also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She loved to crochet and sew she also loved to travel and tending to her flowers. Her favorite color was red as was evident by her wardrobe, cars and household décor. Most of all, she loved her family and was a very devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.

 

Surviving are her Daughters: Shirley May (Ken) Gandenberger of Pony, MT, Sharon Elaine Hamilton of Decatur, IL, Karen Kay (Dennis) Warnecke of Prairie Village, KS, Dorothy May (Rich) Juchnewicz or Fairfax, VA and Brenda Joy (Rob) Buerk of Tower Hill, IL; Sons: Avera Leo Daniels Jr. of Taylorville, IL, Richard Eugene Daniels of Wenona, IL, Robert Lee (Conchita) Daniels of Hampton, VA, Clifford Dean (Patricia) Daniels of Decatur, IL. Twenty-four Grandchildren; Thirty-six Great Grandchildren; Seventeen Great-Great Grandchildren; Sister: Norma Jean (Earl) Dixon of Morrisonville, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Wanda P. Parks

Wanda Pauline Parks, 96 of Taylorville passed away at 2:19 PM on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

 

She was born on March 19, 1919 at Grove City the daughter of Albert and Cecil (Etter) Showalter. She married Dale D. Parks on September 14, 1946 at Taylorville; he preceded her in death on October 15, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 grandchildren and 5 brothers, Lyle, Arthur, Milton, Colonel and Dean Showalter.

 

Wanda was employed as a dietitian at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital (now Taylorville Memorial Hospital), retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of Davis Memorial Christian Church. She was also the “Maple Street Enforcer”.

 

Survivors: Daughters, Kathy (Don) Tingley of Terre Haute, IN, Sheila (Don) Corso, Nancy (Corey) Hafliger and Brenda (Norman) Finfrock all of Taylorville, IL; Sons, Kyle (Terrie) Parks of Stonington, IL and Lyle (Kathleen) Parks of Taylorville, IL; Step Daughter, Carolyn Connolly of Visalia, CA; 12 grandchildren, Kristie (Steve) McKinney, Bryan (Sara) Smith, Jeremy Hafliger, Rhonda Hafliger, Nikki Clayton, Lindsey Finfrock, Scott (Ashley) Finfrock, Shannon (TJ) Barber, Tim (Lori) Parks, Robyn (Nathan) Frederking, Jennifer (Zack) Mills and Mary Parks (Nick Mayberry); 21 great grandchildren and two on the way; 1 great great grandchild; Brother, Albert “Rossi” Showalter of Taylorville, IL; Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Bill Kerns officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home. Wilma K. Nielsen

Wilma K. Nielsen, 81, of Taylorville died at 1:55 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

 

Wilma was born on March 18, 1934, in Melvin, IL, the daughter of Leslie and Dorothy (Roth) Eminger. She graduated from Melvin-Sibley High School in 1951 and graduated from Illinois State Normal University in Normal, IL in 1955 with a degree in business education. She taught at Saybrook-Arrowsmith High School in Saybrook from 1955 – 1960. Wilma married Charles R. Nielsen on June 15, 1958 in Gibson City, IL. After the family moved to Taylorville in 1971, she did substitute teaching at Taylorville High School for several years and taught business education for teachers who were on leave of absence. Other past activities included: after school mentoring of elementary students at the Presbyterian church for 13 years; Welcome Wagon hostess in the early 1970’s welcoming newcomers to Taylorville; member of Twist & Twirl Square Dance Club; and a forty-plus year member of a dinner/bridge club with dear friends. As a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Taylorville, she organized a committee in 2004 to make Inspirational Booklets for individuals who were going through difficult times. Over 3,000 booklets have been distributed to Danville Veteran's Hospital, various nursing homes, Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, and Basket of Hope, to name a few. Attending special events and activities of her children and grandchildren was always of utmost importance and enjoyment whether near or far.

 

Along with her loving husband, Wilma is survived by her sons: Mark Nielsen of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; Douglas Nielsen (wife Michelle) of Louisville, Kentucky; Bradley Nielsen (wife Donna) of Lisle, Illinois; beloved grandchildren: Christie & Matthew Nielsen of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; Tessa & Jack Nielsen of Louisville, Kentucky; and Abigail Nielsen of Lisle, Illinois. Also surviving are two sisters: Faye Atkins of Derry, New Hampshire, and Mona (husband Robert) Holforty of Salem, New Hampshire.

 

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior, also in the church. Burial is private and will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made in her honor to: Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 N. Viola Alice (Arkebauer) McCallum-Murphy

Viola Alice (Arkebauer) McCallum-Murphy, 96, passed away on February 28, 2016 at 11:45 a.m. at Nokomis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Nokomis, IL. Viola was the oldest daughter of the late Edward G.H. Arkebauer and the late Mary Sina (Moos) formerly of Nokomis, Illinois. She was born January 24, 1920 in Ricks Township, Christian County, Illinois.

 

Siblings are Thelma (Arkebauer) Anderson (Late husband Alvin E.) of Auburn, Illinois and Late Loren E. Arkebauer (Wife Norvella) of Taylorville, Illinois.

 

Viola married the late Gerald Lamar McCallum in 1938 at the Lutheran Church Parsonage in Hillsboro, Illinois. Gerald passed away in April of 1965. Later in life, she married the late David J. Murphy from Irvington, Illinois. David Died in 2009.

 

Viola has two sons, the late Jerry Lee McCallum (Wife Darlene) of RR Morrisonville, Illinois and William Joseph McCallum (Wife Mary) of Greenville, North Carolina. She has six grandchildren Gregory E. McCallum (Wife Susen) of RR Morrisonville, Gayla Lea Brookshire (Husband James) of Nokomis, Kathy Sue McCallum of Lakeland, Florida, Barry Joe McCallum (Wife Lorie) of Winterville, NC, Kelli Lynne (McCallum) Masilun (husband Jeffrey) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Jody Lynn McCallum of Greenville, North Carolina. She also has nine Great Grandchildren and three Great Great Grandchildren, as well as, ten nieces and nephews and numerous grand nephews and nieces.

 

Viola worked at the Hillsboro ASCS office for many years before working for and retiring from the Nokomis First National Bank. She resided in the Montgomery County, area for the bulk of her life except for her childhood years and a few retired years in Christian County.

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Sutton Funeral Home in Nokomis, IL. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Sutton Funeral Home, Nokomis, IL with Pastor Ric Miles officiating. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery in Raymond.

Irene L. Moses

Irene L. Moses, 92 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 8:55 p.m. at her residence in Taylorville. She was born March 3, 1923 in Fayette County, IL the Daughter of Ray and Lela (Jones) Rhodes. She married Elmer Moses on January 18, 1947 he later preceded her in death on February 13, 1986. She retired from Central Illinois Glove as a Machine Operator and was also a farm wife. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Taylorville.

 

Surviving are her Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, husband, brother, and several other Nieces and Nephews.  

 

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with Norman Moses officiating.  There will be no visitation.

Robert E. Moore Sr.

Robert E. Moore Sr., 87 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 10:05 p.m. at his residence in Taylorville. He was born February 28, 1929 in Taylorville, IL the Son of Phillip E. and Ida “Pearl” (Wright) Moore. He married Viola M. Gibbs on March 3, 1951 in Taylorville and she later preceded him in death on November 9, 2003.  He was a retired Coal Miner at Peabody Mine #10 and he was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Taylorville Rifle and Pistol Club, NRA, Taylorville AMVETS and Davis Memorial Christian Church.

 

Surviving are his Daughter: Diane (Fred) Steffen of Pawnee, IL; Son: Robert E. (Vickie) Moore Jr. of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Stacey (Brent) DeMichael of Kincaid, IL; Aubrey (Jason) Hopkins of Taylorville, IL; Adam (April) Moore of New Lenox, IL; Kristopher Steffen of Kenner, LA; Brandon (Gayla) Moore of Washington; Matthew Moore of Washington; Ten Great-Grandchildren; Brother: John E. Moore of Edinburg, IL; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Son: Brett Alan Moore, Sister: Lydia Bianchetta; Brother: Phillip Moore in infancy.
