Virgil Leroy Moomey of Taylorville

Virgil Leroy Moomey, 79, of Taylorville passed away at 4:43AM on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at his home. Virgil was born on March 20, 1936 in Millersville, the son of Harold and Olga Waters Moomey. He married Doris Jean Eckes on May 25, 1973 in Decatur. Mr. Moomey worked as a welder at Caterpillar in Decatur for 35 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Virgil was an accomplished wood worker and enjoyed raising livestock for many years.

Virgil is survived by his wife: Doris Moomey of Taylorville; Children: Kevin Moomey, wife Susan, of Morrisonville, Kim Moomey of Divernon, Kris Jones, husband Paul, of Litchfield, Jeff Groves, wife Samantha, of Taylorville, and Dawn Campbell of Taylorville; 15 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; Brothers: Duane Moomey, wife Faye, of Moberly MO, and Ron Moomey, wife Barb, of Owaneco; Sister: Janet Engeling, husband Charles, of Morrisonville. He was preceded in death by his parents; Brother: Kenneth Moomey; and 2 grandchildren

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, May 1, 2015 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Betty Coffey officiating. Visitation will be from 10 until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Owaneco Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Memorial Home Hospice. Dorothy Pauline Gatton of Taylorville

Dorothy Pauline Gatton, 80 of Taylorville passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.  She was born on December 12, 1934 in Willey’s Station, IL; the daughter of Henry and Dorothy (Dunn) Rohdemann.  She married Kenneth Gatton Sr. on July 14, 1956 in Taylorville, IL. Dorothy was employed with Industrial Towels in Decatur, IL she was a paper carrier for the Taylorville Breeze-Courier and she worked at Joyce’s Café. Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville and the Moose Lodge # 1516 in Taylorville, IL.


She is survived by her Husband: Kenneth Sr.; sons: Kenneth (Debbie) Gatton Jr. of Taylorville, IL; Brian (Karrie) Gatton of Taylorville, IL and LeRoy (Nancy) Gatton of MN; daughter, Tammy (David) Howell of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Kristy Miller, Brandon (Marie) Gatton, Justin Gatton, Tracy Edwardsen, Katherine Bravo-Gatton, Kory Gatton, Ryan (Brooke) Gatton, Joshua Gatton, Colton Gatton, Avril Gatton, Kayla Howell, Karlee Howell and Davey Howell; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in passing by her parents, son, Donald Gatton; grandson, Kyle Gatton and great grandson, Damien; brothers: Jack, John, LeRoy and Bruce Rohdemann; sisters: Helen Alsbury and Dora Mae Kidd.

 
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL.

Sarah Ann Sutton of St. Louis

Sarah Ann Sutton, 32 of Springfield, IL passed at 5:43 p.m. on April 22, 2015 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.  She was born on July 15, 1982  in Springfield, IL; the daughter of Dale E. and Patricia Ann (Crowley) Bedinger.  She married Marquis Sutton on February 25, 2012 at the South Fork United Methodist Church in Nokomis, IL. Sarah was a homemaker. She loved her kids, she also loved reading and doing crafts.

In addition to her mother Patricia Ann Bedinger of Springfield, IL, she is survived by her husband: Marquis Sutton of Springfield, IL; sons: Payton Waldron of Springfield, IL, Kalin Sutton of Chicago, IL, and Trenten Johnson of Decatur, IL; grandparents: Ric and Betty Miles of Irving, IL; brother: Devin Bedinger of Springfield, IL; sister: Megan Whitaker of Springfield, IL; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in passing by her father, Dale Bedinger.

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church in Nokomis, IL  Funeral services will be Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Fairview United Methodist Church in Nokomis with Pastor Ric Miles officiating. Burial will be in Kettelkamp Cemetery, Nokomis, IL.

Donald R. Fines of Morrisonville

Donald R. Fines, 78 of Morrisonville, IL passed away at 4:15 AM, Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.  He was born October 15, 1936 in Taylorville, IL son of Azel and Lelia (Arkebauer) Fines.  He married Charry Washburn on December 19,1958 in Taylorville, IL and she preceded him in death March 25, 2015 after 56 years of marriage.


He is survived by his sons: John R. (Betty) Fines of Owaneco, IL and David R. (Lisa) Fines of Taylorville, IL; his daughter: M. Christine (Robert) Rahar of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Justin R. (Ashley) Rahar of Taylorville, IL, Jarred J. (Mallory) Rahar of Taylorville, IL, Jordan C. Rahar of Decatur, IL, Elizabeth A. Fines of Taylorville and John David Fines of Taylorville, IL; four great grandchildren; his brother: Gerald D. (Olga) Fines of Springfield, IL; sister: Dorothea Robinson of Beardstown, IL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.


He had retired from Mine #10 after 33 years of service as a Repairman and had also retired after many years of farming.  Earlier in life he had worked for the R.C. Cola Company and Allis-Chalmers.  He graduated from Taylorville High School in 1954 and attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale before serving his Country in the United States Army, enlisting in September of 1955.


He enjoyed working outdoors, especially in his garden, reading and mushroom hunting.  He had made numerous wooden birdhouses for his family.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held Friday, April 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville, IL with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Burial will in Rosemond Grove Cemetery in Rosamond, IL with Military Honors conducted by the VFW Post #4495, American Legion Post 73 and AMVETS Post #29 and also a United Mine Workers Service. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL.

Mabel A. Bowsher of Taylorville

Mabel A. Bowsher, 96 of Taylorville, IL passed away on Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville.  She was born on October 25, 1918 in Xenia, IL. The daughter of Benjamin F. and Nettie (Copelin) Thomas.  She married F. Willard Bowsher on November 30, 1940 in St. Charles, Mo. He preceded her in passing on April 7, 2000. She was a member of the Taylorville Christian Church.


She is survived by her son: Samuel F. (Ann) Bowsher of Edinburg, IL; daughter: Louella Mae (Harry) Hammond of Ashland, IL; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents; husband, Willard; great grandson, J.T. Larson; six brothers and five sisters.


Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Taylorville Christian Church at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dick Wamsley officiating. Burial will be in Edinburg Cemetery, Edinburg, IL.

Bruce Glendal Barger of Kincaid

Bruce Glendal Barger, 86, of Kincaid, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 1:55 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. He was born July 18, 1928 in Harrisburg, IL. The Son of Troas and Margie (Foster) Barger. He married Adelle Noreuil on February 26, 1950 in Taylorville, IL having just celebrated their 65th Anniversary. He was a retired computer programmer from the Illinois Secretary of State.  He was a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force; He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville having served as a greeter and Usher. In his former years he served as a member of the Taylorville Lions Club and a Gideon to spread the word of God. He was blessed to have volunteered 12 years at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He loved to read, travel, enjoyed the Taylorville Senior Citizens trips. He was thrilled meeting people and sharing the word of God. He loved God, others and it showed in his actions. He was also on the Kincaid school board for many years. His family and friends also enjoyed his witty sense of Humor. He also enjoyed going out to eat and his favorite meal was waffles.

Shawn Westbrook of Taylorville

Shawn Westbrook, 30, of Taylorville, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. at his residence. He was born June 11, 1984 in Joliet, IL. The Son of Keith and Janice (Root) Westbrook. He worked as a machinist and millwright at several power plants. 

He is survived by his Parents Keith and Janice Westbrook; Daughter: Aleece Jaylin Peters- Westbrook; Son: Beckham Stark-Westbrook; Brothers: Chris (Amanda) Westbrook; Keith Westbrook; Sister: Theresa Westbrook; Grandpa: Orville Root; Sixteen Cousins; Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Allen and Juanita Westbrook, Grandmother: Ada (Sedwarf) Patterson,  2 Sons Dilan and Briar Peters-Westbrook, Cousin Angela Avants , Uncle Allen Stewart Westbrook.

Zachary Daniel Huddlestun of Taylorville

Zachary Daniel Huddlestun, 8, of Taylorville passed away Monday, April 13, 2015 at his home.  He was born June 6, 2006 in Springfield, IL the son of Norman and Carrie (Turner) Huddlestun.

Lyle C. Beckmier of Kincaid

Lyle C. Beckmier, 89, of Kincaid, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 8:12 p.m. at his residence. He was born February 11, 1926 in Palmer, IL. The Son of Orville F. and Ethel (Entsminger) Beckmier. He married Helen Jenkins on October 23, 1948 in Shiloh United Methodist Church in Rural Morrisonville, IL. He was a retired farmer and he enjoyed farming and working in the shop repairing and making many projects. He was in the United States Navy from February 1945 to July 1946. He served aboard the USS General C.C. Ballon, Troop transport.  He was a member Morrisonville United Methodist Church but attended Midland United Methodist Church in Kincaid, Morrisonville Masonic Lodge #681 AF&AM, Kincaid American Legion Post #905, Taylorville VFW Post #4495, Assumption Tacousah Chapter of the Eastern Star #682, Christian County Farm Bureau. He was a former school board member of Morrisonville Community #1 and a 4-H Leader for 30 years.  
He is survived by his Wife: Helen; Son: Dennis (Kathy) Beckmier of Humboldt, IL; Grandchildren: Craig Beckmier and Tucker Beckmier; Great-Grandchildren: Logan, Tanner, Kade and Ryker Beckmier; Sister: Darline Nebel Gietl of Springfield, IL; Brother-in-Law: Duane Dozier of Morrisonville, IL; Sister-in-Law: Marge Rogler of Carthage, MO; Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Great-Granddaughter Kiley Beckmier and Sister Linda Dozier.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with his family officiating assisted by Pastor Linda Vonck. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery in Palmer. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Doris E. Carr of Taylorville

Doris E. Carr, 94, of Taylorville, IL died at 2:15 am Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Meadow Manor Nursing Home, Taylorville.

She was born April 28, 1920 in Witt, IL the daughter of Ralph and Beatrice “Nellie” Bolton Singleton. On May 13, 1941 she married Logan A. Carr in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2007. Doris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville, Royal Neighbors and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Surviving are her daughter: Martha Hahn and husband Jim of Taylorville; Granddaughter: Heather Sexton and husband Scott of Chicago and Great Grandson: William Logan Sexton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Logan and one brother Robert Singleton.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service in the Funeral Home on Wednesday.

Eugene Seiler of Owaneco

Eugene Seiler, 91, of Owaneco, IL died at 11:39 PM Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

He was born January 10, 1924 in Dundas, IL (Richland County) the son of Howard Louis and Mary Holtz Seiler. He attended rural grade school for 8 years and graduated from Olney Township High School. When he was 18 he went to work for the Illinois Central Railroad drilling and servicing water wells that served the steam engines. He was a Naval CB for three years during World War II. Two and a half years were spent in the Pacific Theater on many islands from New Caledoneo to Okinawa. After his discharge from the military he returned to the railroad. He met Rosie Lucille Ayers while on leave and they were married on June 22, 1947 in Mt. Pulaski, IL. Lucille preceded him in death on March 11, 2011. Gene has lived in Christian County for 65 years. During that time he was a farmer and worked in the seed and fertilizer industry. He and Lucille were Long time members of Buckeye United Methodist Church, 4-H Club leaders for 35 years, M.Y.F. Counselors for 10 years and they also taught Sunday School Classes at Buckeye United Methodist Church. He was a 50 year member of Locust Lodge #623 A.F. & A.M., Rosiland Chapter 736 Order of Eastern Star, Springfield Consistory and was a member of Christian County Farm Bureau. He was also a life member of V.F.W. Post 4495 and a member of American Legion Post 73.

Surviving are his Sons: Ron Seiler and wife Myrna of Owaneco, Garyl Seiler of Laurel MD and Chris Seiler of Pana and Daughter, Rosella Wise of Owaneco. There are 9 Grandchildren: Steve Seiler, Dave Seiler, Rachel Moore, Jackie Seiler, Lori Moore, Brad Seiler, Elizabeth Jordan, Brandon Wise and Lucas Wise. There are 15 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter Gina Lou, 1 Grandson and one brother Verle Seiler.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, April 13, 2015 at Buckeye United Methodist Church with Rev. Betty Coffey officiating. Burial with military honors will be held at Buckeye Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Sunday at McClure Funeral Home Taylorville with Masonic Rites at 6:30 pm.

Norma Jean Herkert of Taylorville

Norma Jean Herkert, 88, of Taylorville, IL died at 12:27 am Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at her residence.

 

She was born November 4, 1926 in Stonington, IL the daughter of Martin W. and Florence A. Oliver Lush.  On January 23, 1954 she married Rudolph William “Rudy” Herkert at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville.  He preceded her in death on July 12, 2003.  Mrs. Herkert was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and an Associate member of the Adorer’s of the Blood of Christ. In her younger years she had been employed at the sewing factory in Kincaid, IL and she was currently a proud supporter of St. Mary’s School Partners in Education Program.

 

Surviving are her daughter Linda Stone of Taylorville, Sons: Rudolph Herkert. Jr. and Phillip Herkert and wife Danette of Taylorville and Frank Herkert and wife Kim of Morrisonville.  There are 6 Grandchildren: Jessika Herkert, Kathy Herkert, Aaron Herkert, Austin Herkert, Jack Herkert, and Frank Herkert; Brother: Joseph P. Lush and wife Marcella of Morrisonville.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Leo Lush and two sisters: Erma Horrell and Linda Lou Lush in infancy.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, April 10, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Fr. Mariadas Chatla officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday at McClure Funeral Home, Taylorville.  There will be a Prayer Service at 4:45 pm Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Theodore Ted R. Pollard of Mt. Auburn

Theodore “Ted” R. Pollard, 80 of Mt. Auburn, IL passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville.  He was born on July 24, 1934 in Mt. Auburn, IL the son of Theodore and Callie (Morgan) Pollard. He married M. Joanne Oller on July 1, 1955 in Edinburg Christian Parsonage, IL.


In addition to his wife, M. Joanne of Mt. Auburn, he is survived by his by daughters: Susan (Doug) Key and Amy Hamm (Jay Germann) both of Taylorville, IL and Beth (Bob) Patrick of Mechanicsburg, IL; grandchildren: Jason (Becky) Erlenbush, Aaron (Ashley) Erlenbush, Bobby (Sammy) Patrick, Katie (Zac) Peel, Kaleigh and Tucker Hamm; great grandchildren: Weston Erlenbush, Abby Erlenbush, Walker Peel and Colton Peel; brother: Ronald (Judy) Pollard of Shelbyville, IL; sister: Donna (Charles) Requarth of Edinburg, IL; Brother-in-Law Clifford (Marilyn) Oller of Edinburg, IL; several nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and parents-in-law: Allen and Marjorie Oller.


He joined Mt. Auburn Methodist Church at an early age, serving as a Lay Leader for many years. Ted was very faithful to his church. He also served on the Taylorville Community Credit Union Board for 49 years, the Mt. Auburn Village Board, and the Mt. Auburn Township Board for several years. He loved gardening, working in his woodshop and feeding and watching birds. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were very important to him. He was very proud of each one of them.


Visitation will be on Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Mr. Auburn. Funeral Services will follow the visitation on  Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Mt. Auburn. George Heinemann and Bob Cook will officiate.


Inurnment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Mt. Auburn, IL

Richard R. Collebrusco, 93, of Taylorville, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at 10:10 a.m. at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville. He was born on October 17, 1921 in Riverton, IL. The Son of Julius and Theresa (Maurer) Collebrusco. He married Yolonda Bertucci on December 27, 1943 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. He retired as a Compositor at Sangamon Greeting Card Company. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, and The Uni

ted Paper Workers of America. He also Loved Hunting and was a Die Hard Cub Fan.  
He is survived by his Wife: Yolanda; Grandchildren: Eric J. (Penny) Clark of Taylorville, IL; Tina M. Clark of Taylorville, IL; Great GrandSon: Alex J. Clark of Taylorville, IL; Son-in-Law: Charles Clark of Taylorville, IL; Aunt: Della Maurer of Springfield, IL; Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Daughter Claressa A. Clark, 3 Brothers, and 3 Sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Father Mariadas Chatla officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Gerald Alan Bucshon of Kincaid

Gerald Alan Bucshon, 77, of Kincaid, passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at 8:34 a.m. at his residence. He was born October 20, 1937 in Kincaid, IL. The Son of Frank and Gladys (Smith) Bucshon. He married Nancy Lucas on September 23, 1961 in Walnut, IL and she later preceded him in death on December 11, 2011. He was a retired Coal Miner at Peabody Mine # 10. He was also a Veteran of the United States Navy for 4 years; he was a member of the Kincaid American Legion and the United Mine Workers of America. He loved Sports, Hunting and Fishing. 

 
He is survived by his Daughter: Tamara “Tammy” Bucshon and Fiancé Aaron Sutton of Taylorville, IL; Gerald (Debbie) Bucshon of Kincaid, IL; Bridget (Richard) Slezak of Henderson, NV; Grandchildren: Joshua (Allison) Kirchhoff of Goreville, IL; Brittany Durkin and Fiancé Rocky Markham of Macon, IL; Thomas Bennis of New York; Lindsay Kirchhoff of Kincaid, IL; Courtney Kirchhoff of Kincaid, IL; Ryan Bucshon of Kincaid, IL; Tyler Bucshon of Kincaid, IL; Tristan Slezak of Henderson, NV; Rylie Slezak of Henderson, NV. Michelle Sharp of Springfield

Michelle Sharp, 43, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 10:19 p.m. at her residence. She was born July 29, 1971 in Springfield, IL. The Daughter of Michael and Mary (Fisher) Sharp. She worked as a homemaker.  


She is survived by her Sons: Larry Harden of Springfield, Marcus Harden of Springfield; Daughter: Amanda (Jarrod) Pasquale of Edinburg; Grandchildren: Malachi, Landyn, Zoey, Zeily, Zayla; Brothers: Lonnie (Sharon) Esswein of Charleston, WI, Mark Sharp of Springfield, IL, Martin Sharp of Springfield, IL, Robert Sharp of Litchfield, IL; Sisters: Donna Garrison of Winchester, WV, Patricia Esswein of Taylorville, IL, Sandy (Steve) Turner of England. She was preceded in death by her Mother; Sister, Vickie Truax; Niece, Donna Clark.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Nira Franklin Hill of Taylorville

Nira Franklin Hill; 81 of Taylorville, IL and formerly of Pana, IL passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on Thursday, April 2, 2015 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
A memorial service to celebrate Nira’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, IL. The Family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday.


Nira was born on August 11, 1933 in Pana, IL the son of Levi and Pearl (Cox) Hill. Nira attended Pana High School. Graduating in 1951 and attended Lake Land College. After graduation he proudly served in the Korean War as a Member of the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Bertha Harmon on May 8, 1954 in the Presbyterian Church, Taylorville. Nira was a retired Illinois State Trooper, serving District 9 for 30 years, retiring from the road in 1987. Nira was a member of Mound Lodge #122 AF & AM and the Ansar Shrine.


Nira was well known throughout Christian County as a fair caringTrooper who went above and beyond to help those in need. The “King of the Road’ was a moniker he was known by his family and many friends in his long career. Nira Relished his retirement years and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, sharing stories about his six children and his 30 years on the road as a State Trooper.


Nira is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bertha, Five sons Jeff, Chris and Brad of Taylorville, IL; Tim(Judy) of Decatur, IL and Mark of Norwalk, CT; and one daughter Angela (Rusty) Hill of Taylorville; five grandchildren Melissa, Whitney, Hillary, Niles and Adam. He was preceded in Death by his parents, brothers John Carl, Robert  Louie and Sister Mary.

Rayond Edward Reber of Taylorville

Raymond Edward Reber, 84, of Taylorville, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 3:30 a.m. at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville, IL. He was born February 4, 1931 in Taylorville, IL. The Son of Clyde Francis and Stella Pearl (Walker) Reber. He married Laura V. Day on August 24, 1952 in Taylorville, IL and she later preceded him in death on October 11, 1998. He retired from Peabody Mine #10  as a repairman. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, Mound Lodge #122 AF & AM; VFW Post #4495, Taylorville Moose Lodge #1516, Ansar Shrine and Lions Club.


He is survived by his Son: Joseph (Kara) Reber of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Kaytlyn Jo Reber of Taylorville, IL and Kenzie Rayanne Reber of Leroy, IL; Brother: Willard Paul Reber of Clarksdale, IL; Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Brothers: Clyde, Gene, Bill and Roger Reber; Sister: Vivian Ellinger; Step-Father: Harry Landers.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Tiney Walker officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery in Palmer with military graveside honors. Visitation will be held Friday, April 4, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. Masonic Rites will be held following the visitation at 7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, IL.
