Steve William Elam of Taylorville

Steve William Elam, 69, of Taylorville, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015 at 11:23 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born June 25, 1945 in Edinburg, IL. The Son of Chester and Georgia (Emerson) Elam. He married Wanda Prior on April 7, 1968 in Taylorville Christian Church by Bob Green. He retired as an operator at Commonwealth Edison. He was a member of Taylorville Christian Church, VFW Post #4495 and the Taylorville Moose Lodge #1516. He was also a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he fought in Vietnam.


He is survived by his Wife: Wanda; Son: Brian Elam of Palmer, IL; Daughter: Angie (Rich) Reese of Dardenne Praire, MO; Grandchildren: Joab Elam of Palmer, IL; Alexis, Peyton, Tanner, and Ainsley Reese of  Dardenne Praire, MO; Brother: Martin (Sheryl) Elam of Nokomis, IL; Sisters: Bonnie (Preston) Leaderbrand of Spencer, IN; Vickie Dixon of Edinburg, IL; Ellen Elam (Dan Kuchen) of Taylorville, IL; Brother-in-Law: Gary Manuel of Taylorville, IL; Sisters-in-Law: Karen (Les) Foraker of Taylorville, IL; Sandra Hott of Lake Stevens, WA; Judy Saucier of Decatur, IL; Paula (Craig) Hagen of Taylorville, IL; Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sisters-in-Law: Donna Manuel and Phyllis Nation; Brother-in-Law: Gary Hott, Brother-in-Law Lou Saucier and Wayne Dixon.

 
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Taylorville Christian Church in Taylorville with Rev. Dick Wamsley officiating. Burial will be in Fraley Cemetery in Taylorville with graveside military honors provided by the VFW Post 4495, American Legion Post #73 and Amvets Post #29. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Taylorville Christian Church in Taylorville.

Joseph Russell Clark of Taylorville

Joseph Russell Clark, 84, of Taylorville, IL died at 11:20 am Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Taylorville Care Center.

He was born August 30, 1930 in Mt. Auburn, IL the son of John Harlan and Sophronia Elizabeth Lush Clark. Russell was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, a Navy Veteran of the Korean War era, and retired in 1985 from Caterpillar Company in Decatur. Russell was an avid Cardinal fan and could be seen walking around town proudly displaying his Cardinal jacket.

Surviving is his Sister: Mary Rose Kristian of Taylorville, numerous nieces and nephews and his best friend Jo Meier of Nokomis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers: James Edward Clark, John William Clark and Washington Harold Clark and Sisters: Teresa McAvoy, Marguerite Price Smith, and Helena Schulte.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 31 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Alan Hunter officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service in the Church on Tuesday. Cremation will follow the Mass and inurnment will take place at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 1 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Fr. Mariadas Chatla officiating. Charry Y. Fines of Morrisonville

Charry Y. Fines, 75, of Morrisonville, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 2:20 p.m. at her residence. She was born October 31, 1939 in Rosemond, IL. The Daughter of Zenith and Margie (Buzzard) Washburn. She married Donald R. Fines in December of 1958 in Taylorville, IL. she worked at Sears, Mid Illinois Dental Associates, and 15 years at Commonwealth Edison as a payroll clerk where she retired in 1995. She was a member of Taylorville Women’s Club, DAR, PTA, Muni Opera in Springfield, Taylorville Tourism, Taylorville Christmas Tea and Home Tour. She was a 4-H Leader and also a 4-H judge for the county fair.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Taylorville where she was a Sunday school teacher for 17 years.  She graduated from Taylorville High School in 1957and then she attended Browns College in Springfield, later transferring to the University of Illinois in Springfield where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in History in 1994. She was a substitute teacher in the Taylorville Public School system for 12 years and she loved all of the students she taught. Charry was a master quilter, making over 100 quilts and afghans for family and friends; she also crocheted and was an excellent seamstress. She loved to read, garden, can her own produce and bake. In her spare time, she enjoyed portraying Mary Todd Lincoln to children and historians alike.  She enjoyed singing for wedding receptions, funerals and the Muni Opera. She loved to travel and she took all of her grandchildren for their graduation vacations. She has traveled all of the states from coast to coast and also visited Europe and the Caribbean where she made friends. Her proudest accomplishment was her family; her three children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Family always came first  in Charry’s life.

Christine ( Robert) Rahar of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Justin R. (Ashley) Rahar of Taylorville, IL; Jarred J. (Mallory) Rahar of Taylorville, IL; Jordan C. Rahar of Decatur, IL; Elizabeth A. Fines of Taylorville, IL; John David Fines of Taylorville, IL; Brother: Lloyd (Bea) Washburn of Morrisonville, IL; Sisters: Shirley (Fred) Barber of Muscuta, IL; Penny Jo Osborn of Pana, IL; Sarah Washburn of Savannah, GA. Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Brother-in-Law Richard Osborn.


Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery in Rosemond. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

John Russel Beard of Taylorville

John Russel Beard, 66 of Taylorville passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born April 19, 1948 in Taylorville the son of Burnes “Dutch” and Hattie (Huffmaster) Beard.  He married Holly J. Greenan on August 14, 1999. He retired from Caterpillar in 1996 and was a Vietnam veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post #73 in Taylorville. He also Loved motorcycles, gun collecting and fishing.


He is survived by his wife Holly of Taylorville, IL; Son: Jeremiah John Beard and Companion Terri Johnson; Daughter Casey Nicole Beard; Grandchildren: Cassidy Beard, Lennon Clark; Sister Mary Selzer; Brother Rex R. and wife Jennifer Beard. Sister-in-Law Evelyn (Phil) Watson; Brother-in-Law: Norman (Tara) Lybarger; Mother-in-Law: Linda Fillenwarth; Several Nieces and Nephews


Memorial services with military rites will be held Saturday March 28 , 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion in Taylorville with  the Rev. Russell Beard officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Dawn Rene' (Daigh) Harden of Jeiseyville

Dawn Rene’ (Daigh) Harden, 47, of Jeiseyville, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 6:25 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. She was born March 30, 1967 in Taylorville, IL. The Daughter of Donna Pasqueno and the late Dave Daigh. She worked as a teller at CNB Bank in Taylorville. She loved her Daughters and her life. She had a contagious smile and loved everyone.


She is survived by her daughter: Hannah Harden of Taylorville, IL; Emma Harden of Taylorville, IL ; Mother: Donna Pasqueno of Taylorville, IL; Companion: Noah Allen of Taylorville, IL; Brother: David Daigh of Owaneco, IL; Sister: Rena (Gary) Miller of Taylorville, IL; Marta Frick of South Carolina; Several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Step Father: Martin J. Pasqueno and 1 infant Daughter.

Phyllis J. Nation of Taylorville

Phyllis J. Nation, 70; of Taylorville, IL passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 3:18 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital, Taylorville, IL. Phyllis was born on March 20, 1945 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Alvie and Mildred (Jordan) Prior. On March 3, 1965 she married Ritchie Nation in Taylorville and they were later divorced. Mrs. Nation was a Homemaker, telephone operator and worked as a caregiver for many people she grew to love. Mrs. Nation also worked a short time for Springfield Clinic.


Surviving Mrs. Nation are her children, Paul Jr. and Wife Amy Nation; Kim and Husband Jim Neisler both of Taylorville, IL and Scott Nation of Decatur, IL. Grandchildren Hannah and Michael Neisler of Taylorville, Josh and Jeff Nation (both in the Marine Corps) of Taylorville, IL. Sisters Karen Foraker and Husband Les, Paula Hagan and Husband Craig, Wanda Elam and Husband Steve, all of Taylorville, Sandy Hott of Everett, WA; Judy Saucier of Decatur, IL. Brother-in-Law Gary Manuel of Taylorville, IL. Also Many Nieces, Nephews, and her beloved dog Sadie. Mrs. Nation was preceded in death by both of her parents, Sister Donna Manuel, Brothers in Law Saucier and Gary Hott.


The Family will be hosting a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Gloria E. Hobbs of Edinburg

Gloria E. Hobbs, 69, of Edinburg, IL died at 11:59 am Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

She was born March 27, 1945 in Mechanicsburg, the daughter of Elmer Michael and Bertha Frances Harter McConnell. On November 25, 1987 she married James Richard Hobbs in Beamington, IL.

Surviving are her husband: James R. Hobbs of Edinburg; Sons: Michael H. Hall and wife Heather of Edinburg and Thomas L. Martin of Decatur; Sister: Janice Sanges of Jeiseyville; Grandchildren: Ashleigh Hall and Sorsha Taylor and 3 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Thomas Levi Martin.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Charles William Jack George of Taylorville

Charles William “Jack” George of Taylorville, age 91 years, passed away on March 24, 2015 at Taylorville Care Center where he had resided for the past ten months.The oldest Son of William Otho and Nora Zander George, he was born in Sisily, Illinois on November 15, 1923.
Jack served in both World War II and The Korean War and had flown 52 missions while he served his country in the Air Force.He was a member of the VFW Post 4495 and the American Legion Post 73 in Taylorville. He was also a member of Davis Memorial Christian Church.


He is survived by his Sister-in-Law, Alberta George of Springfield; his nieces and nephews, Connie George and Rita Busby (Husband Jim) of Pawnee, Bill George of Springfield and Terry George (Wife Nora) of Cocoa, Florida; seven great nieces and nephews; seven great-great nieces and nephews and several cousins. He also leaves behind many friends and his good neighbors, Lynn and Carol, who without them, Jack wouldn’t have been able to remain at his home as long as he did. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Raymond “Buddle” George in 2003.


As Jack requested, cremation rites were accorded and there will be no services.

Rosalie Marie Hallowell of Morrisonville

Rosalie Marie Hallowell, 74 of Morrisonville passed away at 4:23 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at her home with her children at her side.

She was born on February 6, 1941 at Taylorville the daughter of Earl and Helen (Bergschneider) Painter. She married James J. Hallowell on September 21, 1963 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Springfield; he preceded her in death on December 3, 2005. Her father also preceded her in death.

Rosalie worked for Phillips Brothers Printing as a bookbinder before her retirement. She was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville, volunteered at Taylorville Memorial Hospital Gift Shop and was a former EMT with Morrisonville Community Ambulance. She had also attended Flight Attendant School in Minneapolis, MN.

Survivors include: Daughter, Colleen Donaldson of Springfield, IL; Son, Tim Hallowell of Morrisonville, IL; Grandchildren, Dalton James Donaldson and Allison Elizabeth Donaldson; Mother, Helen Painter of Raymond, IL; Sisters, Dottie (husband, Mike) Colbrook of Girard, IL and Elaine (husband, Don) Held of Farmersville, IL; Brother, Ronnie (wife, Andrea) Painter of Hot Springs Village, AR; Former son in law, Khristopher Donaldson of Springfield, IL; Several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville with Rev. Gerald Bunse officiating. Burial will follow at St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery, Morrisonville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 PM until service time at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville.

Donald Wayne McConnell of Springfield

Donald Wayne McConnell, 82, of Taylorville, IL died at 8:10 am Friday, March 20, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

He was born January 18, 1933 in May Township, IL, the son of Charles E., and Emma A. Jackson McConnell.  On February 23, 1952 he married Mable I. Pearson in Taylorville.  Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville and had been employed by Brown and Sons for over 40 years prior to his retirement.  He enjoyed square dance calling for 45 years and called all over Illinois, Missouri, Indiana and Wisconsin.  He called several National Square Dance Conventions including Kentucky, Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.  Don especially loved being outdoors and gardening.  He loved being with his family and as the family attested he loved eating.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years: Mable McConnell of Taylorville; Sons: Wayne McConnell and wife Penny of Elgin, TX and Mike McConnell and wife Pam of Battiest, OK; Daughter: Donna Huston and husband Tom of Edinburg; Brother: Robert McConnell of Sharpsburg; Sister: Ruth Fore of Springfield; 8 Grandchildren: Michael Griffith, Amber Silkenson, Dillon McConnell, Anna McConnell, Joy McConnell, Rick Bingham, Stephanie LeSeure and Carrie Gorden. There are 11 Great Grandchildren.  Don was preceded in death by his parents, 1 Grandson: Travis McConnell, 1 brother, Ray McConnell and 3 sisters: Hazel Babbs, Helen Larimore and Hilda Hibbetts.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 24 at McClure Funeral Home with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Monday at the Funeral Home.

Herman L. Altman of Taylorville

Herman L. Altman, 89, of Taylorville passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015 at his home.

He was born on August 5, 1925 at Greensburg, Kentucky the son of Henry L. and Clara (Gupton) Altman. Herman married Norma E. South on February 1, 1974 at Alton, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bernard Altman.

Herman was President and CEO of Taylorville Savings and Loan, retiring after many years of service. He was a former fireman with the Taylorville Fire Department, served as Christian County Treasurer and was a former Christian County Board Member. He was an insurance agent, realtor with Craggs Realty and office manager for Siegrist Builders, retiring on July 31, 2014. He was a lifetime member and past commander of Taylorville V.F.W. Post 4495, charter member of Kiwanis International and American Legion Post 73. He served as Grand Marshall of the 2013 Taylorville July 4th Parade and was proud to attend an Honor Flight in 2012. Herman enjoyed playing golf and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball and Fighting Illini fan. He was a 1943 graduate of Taylorville High School, a past member of the Christian County Honor Guard and a veteran of the Army/Air Force.

Altman of Taylorville, IL; Daughter, Susan Cosio of Denton, TX; Sons, Herman Lee (wife, Ann) Altman Jr. and James John (wife, Rita) Altman both of Taylorville, IL; 5 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Laverne (husband, Rudolph) Melzer of Champaign, IL; Brothers, William (wife, Mona) Altman of Decatur, IL and Charles (wife, Judy) Altman of Lincoln, IL; Several nieces and nephews and special friends the Friday nighters.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville with Rev. Michael Evanchak, Rev. Becky Lembke and Sister Rose McKeowan officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from Noon until time of service at the First Presbyterian Church. Burial with military honors will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery at a later date.

Austin Ozzie Hemingway of Mt. Auburn

Austin “Ozzie” Hemingway, 70, of Mt. Auburn, IL died at 2:45 pm Thursday, March 19, 2015 at his residence.

He was born December 31, 1944 in Taylorville, IL the son of Austin A. and Olga Jouglet Hemingway. On April 27, 1969 he married Pamela Sue Jordan in Mt. Auburn. Ozzie was a retired miner working for Peabody Coal Company at Mine #10 and Marrissa. He was a member of Kedron Lodge #340 A.F. and A.M. in Mt. Auburn, Ansar Shrine and United Mine Workers of America Local 9819.

Surviving are his wife: Pam Hemingway of Mt. Auburn; Sons: Jim Hemingway and fiancée Peggy Morgan of Edinburg and Jarred Hemingway of Springfield; Grandchildren: Austin Hemingway and Colton Hemingway both of Chatham and Sister: Carolyn Grant and husband Lawrence of Owaneco. There are several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held at McClure Funeral Home Taylorville, IL from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 22. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 3:00 pm and graveside services will follow in Grove City Cemetery with Rev. Chad Foster officiating.

Marilyn Elinor Hall of Taylorville

Marilyn Elinor Hall, 88, of Taylorville passed away at 6:15AM, Thursday, March 19, 2015 at St. John’s Hospice, Springfield.  She was born on September 11, 1926 in Taylorville, the daughter of F.M. “Binks” & Edwina Barnes Martin.  She married Charles Hall on February 14, 1947 in Taylorville.  He preceded her in death on April 30, 1990.  Marilyn served as Deputy Clerk in the Christian County Clerks Office and was a teacher at St. Mary’s School.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed drinking coffee at Rene’s, shopping for shoes, and spending time with her family and her grand-dog Shadow.

Marilyn is survived by her children: Mary Linda Graham of Taylorville, John Hall (wife Kathy) of Lexington, Illinois, and Julie Colantino (husband Stephen) of Springfield; grandchildren: Kimberly Fishburn (husband Philip), Chris Hall, Karen Kuntzman (husband Chris), Shannon LeFave (husband Ken), Traci Evans (husband Otis), Anthony Colantino, and Dena Colantino; 9 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son-in-law: Tom Graham.  

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Fr. Brittany Mishelle Rudolph of Taylorville

Brittany Mishelle Rudolph, ("Brittan", "London") 28, of Taylorville, passed away on Thursday, March 12th, 2015 at home surrounded by those she loved. She was born December 8th, 1986 to Daren Rudolph and Catherine Davis-Rudolph in Springfield, Il.

Brittan grew up in Grove City, Illinois along with her sister and best friend Krystal Rudolph. Brittan was diagnosed February 21st 2007 with brain cancer and given a year to live. Upon chemotherapy and radiation treatment Brittan graduated from Blackburn College with honors and earned a double major in graphic design/graphic communications and a minor in professional communications on time and with her graduating class.  After college Brittan set off to climb mountains in Colorado on a cancer retreat with the organization First Descents where she made many special friendships with other cancer survivors. After mountain climbing Brittan became a foster parent where she met the love of her life, Georgia Grace Rudolph, 4. Brittan loved being a mom and laughing with friends and family. Throughout her eight year battle with cancer Brittan inspired many with her courage and determination to prove the statistics wrong.

Brittan is survived by her daughter: Georgia Grace Rudolph of Taylorville, Father: Daren Rudolph of Edinburg, Mother: Catherine Davis-Rudolph (companion Tony Johnson) of Texas, sister: Krystal Rudolph (companion Evan Mitchell) of Taylorville, grandparents: Tom and Sharon Rudolph of Mt. Auburn, and Floyd and Sandy Davis of Lincoln, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and her two beloved cats.

Jeffery L. Bingham of Decatur

Jeffrey L. Bingham, 53 of Taylorville passed away at 8:10 PM on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur from injuries resulting from a single vehicle accident.

 

He was born on April 8, 1961 at Pana the son of Robert A. and Cathleen (Williams) Bingham. He was preceded in death by his Father, Robert A. Bingham; Mother, Cathleen (Williams) McKinnon; Special uncle, Chuck Bingham; Brother in law, Randy France.

 

Jeff was a 1980 graduate of Taylorville High School. He was a journeyman electrician and worked for many years in Texas and Illinois. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, camp and cook for family and friends. He always had a smile and great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

 

Survivors include: Daughters, Brittany Bingham of Arlington, TX and Brystal Bingham Miller of Williamsville, IL; 1 Grandson and 1 Granddaughter; Sisters, Terri France, Cynthia “Sis” Dunaway and Betty Cunningham all of Taylorville, IL; Brothers, Mike Bingham, Randy Bingham and Bobby Bingham all of Taylorville, IL; Many nieces and nephews.

 

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating. Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Saturday at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home.

Robert W. Patton of Taylorville

Robert W. Patton, 83, of Taylorville, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11:06 a.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born February 22, 1932 in Mt. Auburn, IL, the son of Leslie & Irene (McGinnis) Patton. He married Peggy Billerman on September 3, 1955 in Decatur, IL at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Robert served as a Marine during the Korean war. He worked as a carpenter until his retirement and was a member of the local VFW Post #4495 and American Legion Post #73 .  


He is survived by his Wife, Peggy Patton; sons, Robert C. Patton of Sullivan, IL, and Roger G. (Linda) Patton of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren, Whitney, Lebon, Jeremy, Brandi, & Megan; eight great-grandchildren; sister, M. Joann Nottingham of Bloomington, IL; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Lawrence, Harold, Jack, & Dick Patton.


Graveside services will be held Monday, March 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Anderson Cemetery in Palmer, IL with Pastor Rodney Blomquist officiating.

Nola Marie Lake of Taylorville

Nola Marie Lake, 94, formerly of Taylorville passed away at 9:15 AM on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

 

Nola was born on August 14, 1920 at Pittsburg, IL the daughter of Guy and Pearl (Rhine) Williams. She married Jesse E. Lake on February 14, 1939 in St. Charles, MO.. They were married for 69 years until his death in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents; Son, Robert Lake; Granddaughter, Holli Foli; Sisters, Neva Clesson, Susan Collins, Kathryn Bottoms, Phyllis Hardway, Shirley Chandler and Donna Courtoise; Brother, Norman “Pete” Williams.

 

Nola was employed during WW II as a “WOW” (Women’s Ordinance Worker) at Remington Rand Ammunitions Plant in Illiopolis. She had also been employed at Rene’s Drugstore, Brook’s Drive-In and A & W Drive-In. She loved cooking, sewing, knitting and especially gardening. She knitted over 100 caps for babies with AIDS. Nola was so proud of her garden which was featured on the 2006 Taylorville Garden Walk. Nola and her husband were “snowbirds”, spending 32 wonderful winters at their home in Bonita Springs, FL. She was a member of Taylorville Christian Church and the Red Hat Society.

 

Survivors include: Son, Ronald (Donna) Lake of Eugene, OR; Daughter, Linda (Ernie) Irwin of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren, Daniel (Stephanie) Irwin of Chicago, IL, Julie Lake of Taos, NM, Katie (Brian) Lake-Davis of Portland, OR and Amanda Irwin of Shiloh, IL; Great Grandchildren, Kellen, Aidan and Malaya Irwin, J..D. Hill and Ava Lake-Davis; Many nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Danny Lynn Brandon of Kincaid

Mr. Danny Lynn Brandon, 60, of Kincaid passed away at 4:32 A.M. Sunday, March 8, 2015 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL

Mr. Brandon was born in Pana, IL September 9, 1954 the son of Carl and Louada (Flemming) Brandon.  He married Kathryn J. Bough June 7, 1974 in Kincaid and she survives.
Danny was a member and very active in the Midland United Methodist Church.  He was a member of the Methodist Men’s Club and very active with Vacation Bible School, the Summer Lunch Program, Midland Food Pantry and the Easter Last Supper Play.  Mr. Brandon was a former Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader and a Camp Director at Camp Illinik in Chatham.  Danny was also a former member of the South Fork School District School Board.

Surviving are his wife Kathryn Brandon, a son Robert (Amanda) Brandon, a daughter Melissa Brandon all of Kincaid, IL 3 grandchildren Kevin Brandon, Abby Brandon and Marshal Thompson, 4 sisters Betty Smith, Carlene (Tom) Fenicle and Carlotta (Jim Shelton) Brandon all of Taylorville, IL and Nancy Lee (John) Saunders of Ramsey, IL along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 brothers Frank, Carl Jr. and John Brandon.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid.  Pastor Linda Vonck will officiate.  Burial will take place at a later date.  Visitation for Mr. Brandon will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Masterson Funeral Home.

Jarrod W. Clark of Taylorville

Jarrod W. Clark, 45, of Taylorville, IL died at 9:46 am Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

He was born February 8, 1970 in Springfield the son of John William and Shirley Lavonne Mahan Clark. Jarrod loved fishing and being outdoors.

Surviving are his fiancée Casey Beard of Taylorville; Sons: Zachary Clark and Lennon Clark and Daughter Cassidy Beard all of Taylorville; Mother: Shirley Clark of Taylorville and Brother Robert Clark of Taylorville. Aunts and Uncles: Kenneth and Freda Mahan of Taylorville, Ronnie and Gerry Mahan of Edinburg, Richard Mahan, Russell Clark and Mary Rose Kristian all of Taylorville.

Phillip Sherden Whitlow of Edinburg

Phillip Sherden Whitlow, 72, of Edinburg, IL died at 8:38 pm Monday, March 2, 2015 at his residence.

He was born January 16, 1943 in Bulpitt, IL the son of Cecil G. and Susie K. Connerly Whitlow. He was preceded in death by his parents and Brother Gary C. Whitlow. On June 26, 1965 he married Nancy C. Norred at the First Baptist Church in Taylorville. Mr. Whitlow worked at Peabody Mine #10 and retired from Bunn Corporation in August 2010. Phillip was a two year survivor of brain and lung cancer. He enjoyed his time camping and boating with family on Lake Taylorville. He also enjoyed his Koi pond, drinking coffee and endless hours of watching Fox News.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy C. Whitlow of Edinburg, Daughters: Kathryn J. Collingwood (Doug) ofEdinburg, Jonna K. Whitlow of Edinburg, and Son: Phillip T. Whitlow (Joyce) of Taylorville. Grandchild: Ryan D. Collingwood of Mt. Auburn; Canine Companion: Zoey “Baby” Whitlow; Brother: Ronald Whitlow (Marie) of Taylorville and Sister: Faye Clark (Charles) of Oak Lawn; 2 Step Granddaughters and 3 Step Great Grandchildren in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

At Phillip’s request there will be no services at this time. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.

James Edward Vaughn of Taylorville

James Edward Vaughn 52, of Taylorville, IL died at 8:52 am Saturday, February 28, 2015 at his residence.

He was born June 11, 1962 in Taylorville, IL the son of James Richard and Norma Jean Durbin Vaughn. On October 21, 2006 he married Carol Annette Bergschneider in Taylorville. Jim was a former truck driver and was a Navy Veteran.

Surviving are his wife: Carol Vaughn of Taylorville, Daughters: Montana Lyn Vaughn of Taylorville, Sarah Cox of Bedias, TX, Amy Vaughn of Houston, TX and Alexandria Vaughn of New Caney, TX. Four Grandchildren:LeeAnn Cox, June Carter Cox and Lyod Coxof Bedias, TX, and Chloe Loves Lucas of New Caney, TX. Brothers: Robert Vaughn and fiancée Melisa Gallagher of Springfield, IL and David Vaughn and wife Barbie of Mendon, IL. Sisters: Marcia Leach and husband David of Lincoln, Kathy Whitehead and companion Vince Miller of Brookfield, Melody Waigand of St. Louis, MO and Rose Denning and husband Jeff of Branson, MO. There are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Friday, March 6 at McClure Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald McPhillips officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of service in the Funeral Home on Friday.

Nanette Kuntzman of Taylorville

Nanette Kuntzman, 83, of Taylorville, IL, died at 11:26 am Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Taylorville Care Center.

She was born May 7, 1931 in Eldorado, IL, the daughter of Lucian and Velma Pearce Flanders.  On July 27, 1948 she married Lester ”Bud” Kuntzman at the First Baptist Church in Taylorville.  Nan retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company on March 1, 1993.  She was a life member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary of Post 4495, Taylorville.

Surviving are her husband Bud Kuntzman of Taylorville, Children David Kuntzman and wife Linda of Springfield, Gary Kuntzman and wife JoAnn of Taylorville, Kathy Kuntzman of Taylorville and Scott Kuntzman and wife Beth of Stonington. Grandchildren: Jennifer Harrison and husband James of Springfield, Kim Biggs and husband Michael of Chatham, Chris Kuntzman and wife Karen of Taylorville, Steve Kuntzman and wife Debbie of Mt. Auburn, James Kuntzman and fiancée Nancy Hutchins of Mt. Auburn, Kelly Green and husband Zach of Syracuse, NY, Luke Daugherty and wife Amanda of Taylorville, Nick Daugherty and wife Carrie of Stonington, Heather Kuntzman and Adam Kuntzman of Assumption and Bryan Kuntzman  of Stonington.  Great Grandchildren: Ella Harrison, Alec Biggs, Lacy Kuntzman, Cody Kuntzman and wife Rachel, Quentin Kuntzman, J.T.
