Dean E. Voorhees, 84 of Taylorville passed away at 12:50 AM on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Taylorville Care Center.

He was born on March 28, 1933 at Raritan, Illinois the son of Andrew and Kathryn (Matheny) Voorhees. Dean Married Carolyn Curvey on March 29, 1953 at Palmer Advent Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, J.R. Voorhees.

Dean was supervisor of the finishing room at Georgia Pacific, retiring after many years of service. He was a social member of VFW Post 4495 and a member of their Military Funeral Honor Guard. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and past President of Avion Travel Cade Club. Dean loved to camp and fish and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan. He was a US Army veteran.

Survivors include: His wife, Carolyn Voorhees of Taylorville, IL; Daughter, Patricia (husband, Tony) Lush; Son, Ed (wife, Linda) Voorhees of Morrisonville, IL; 7 grandchildren, Travis (Melissa) Lush, Jarrod Lush, Joshua (Kristi) Lush, Lela (Mark) Ferrill, Jeffrey Voorhees, Andy Voorhees and Abby Voorhees; 13 great grandchildren; Sister, Lois Ann (husband, Leroy) Marburger of Palmer, IL; Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home in Taylorville with Pastor Chad Foster officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Anderson Cemetery in Palmer. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service at Shafer-Perfetti Funeral Home.

Arthur Lee Carter, 82, of Morrisonville, passed away at 9:55 a.m. on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Taylorville Care Center.

Artie was born January 25, 1935 in Morrisonville, IL, the son of Raymond “Dick” and Velma (Eckhoff) Carter. He married Susan Clinard November 25, 1956, at the First Presbyterian Church of Morrisonville.

Artie graduated from Morrisonville High School, and went on to work for Louis Marsch Co. for over 50 years as an oil truck operator. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves, and was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Morrisonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Louie Carter.

Artie is survived by his wife, Susan Carter of Morrisonville; son, Sam (wife, Tammy) Carter of Morrisonville; daughters, Cindy (husband, Michael) Millburg of Morrisonville and Lori (husband, Christopher) Durbin of Morrisonville; grandchildren, Jonathon, Lance, Cameron, and Abigale Millburg, Thomas and Todd Carter, and Emily Durbin; step-grandchildren, Joni Virden, Stephanie Cisco, and Adam Durbin; great grandchildren, Carter, Claire, Lydia, Andrew, Benjamin, and Avery; cousins, Linda Poggenpohl and Ruth Hopper; and several nieces and nephews.

Anna Fayetta Robinson, 94 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 12:15 p.m. at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville. She was born on August 30, 1922 in Palmer, IL the Daughter of James and Alta (Rape) Durbin. She married Thomas Morgan on December 25, 1939 in Springfield, IL and they later divorced, she then married Ed Robin son on December 9, 1964 and he preceded her in death in September of 1992. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville.

Surviving are her Son: John (Wendy) Morgan of Lincoln, CA; Grandchildren: Carol Pedigo, John Thomas and Cindy Morgan all of Colorado Springs, CO; Lisa Denlay and Heather Cooper of California; Seven Great-Grandchildren; Sisters: Genova McChristy of Stonington, IL, Evelyn (Donald) Yurdin of Springfield, IL; Daughter-in-Law: Mary Morgan of Colorado Springs, CO Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Norma J. Hubbartt, 92, of Taylorville passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 4:30 a.m. at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville. She was born on November 18, 1924 in rural Morrisonville, IL the daughter of Lloyd E. and Fern (Milslagle) Harmon. She married Russell C. Hubbartt Jr. on August 17, 1946 in Henderson, Kentucky; and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2009. She worked as a homemaker and she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville, D.A.R. and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was known as “Hollywood” by her friends at Hickory Estates and Taylorville Care Center.

Surviving are her sons: Steve (Carol) Hubbartt of Chatham, IL; and Greg (Pat) Hubbartt of Murrayville, IL; daughter: Julie (Dennis) Braeuninger of Pawnee, IL; nine gGrandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; sisters: Ruth Garrett, Bertha Hill, and Donna (Gene) Peters all of Taylorville, IL; brothers: Elmer Harmon of Taylorville, IL, ;and Chuck (Gloria) Harmon of Dayton, OH; brother-in-law: Mac McShanog of Champaign, IL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Catherine Ann Callan, 64, of Stonington passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 in her home. She was born on February 12, 1953 in Taylorville, the daughter of John James and Ada Jean (Garwood) Callan. Cathy graduated from Stonington High School and attended Lincoln Land Community College. She worked for the State of Illinois for many years and for over 30 years at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in several jobs, most recently as a lab runner. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she assisted with many activities. Cathy was very active with 4-H for many years and was known for the cookies and yeast rolls that she baked. She enjoyed sharing her faith by making rosaries. Cathy was a joy to all who knew her and her positive personality was a blessing to many.

William Larry Enzor, 62, of Taylorville passed away at 8:53 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017 in his home. He was born on October 25, 1954 in Nashville, Tennessee, the son of Espey and Clara (Herndon) Enzor. He married Cynthia Mauer on May 26, 1990 in Canton, Illinois. Larry graduated from Texas Christian University with a Masters of Business and worked as a business manager at Kemmerer Village in Assumption. He was a member of Taylorville Evangelical Free Church, and the Taylorville Optimist Club. In his free time, Larry enjoyed reading, running and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Vanderbilt Commodores.

Larry is survived by his wife: Cindy Enzor of Taylorville; children: Bo Enzor (Ali) of Pana, Nancy Davis (fiancé John Tate) of Taylorville, and Rachel Enzor of Pana; grandchildren: Dayton Enzor, Emalynn Enzor, Caidence Enzor, Kaleena Hendricks, Dallas Hendricks, Kinsley Samson, Roscoe Tate, and Arianna Tate; sister: Lynn Till (David) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. Tammy Jo Hodges, 45, of Stonington passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. She was born on March 8, 1972 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She married Scott Hodges on May 28, 1994 in Indianapolis. Tammy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had worked as a manager for Subway. She enjoyed playing cards, Sudoku puzzles, and Bingo. Tammy enjoyed camping and most of all loved the time spent with family.

Irene Vidmar, 92 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 8:25 a.m. at Life’s Journey Senior Living Center in Taylorville. She was born on December 14, 1924 in Washtenaw County, MI the Daughter of Joseph and Emma (Stoltzheimer) Lindemann. She married William M. “Bill” Vidmar on August 19, 1945 in Ann Arbor, MI. She worked as a housekeeper at St. John’s Hospital and she was also the bookkeeper for Vidmar’s Plumbing and Heating. Irene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville and she enjoyed Gardening, Sewing, Quilting, playing cards (Euchre), baking, Cooking and being a homemaker.

James Michael Welge Sr., 68, of Taylorville passed away at 8:03 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family. Mike was born on November 1, 1948 in Taylorville, the son of Ray Yulette and Marcella Marie (Hogarth) Welge. He married Judith Ellen Stayner on March 4, 1969 in Taylorville. Mike retired from the Department of Corrections after 22 years working as a maintenance equipment operator and was a member of AFSCME and Teamsters Local 279. Prior to that he worked for many years at Peabody Mine #10. Mike served on the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Taylorville for 25 years. He was an Army veteran and a past commander of American Legion Post 73. He was a fan of tractors, and has collected many over the years. He was a member of the Taylorville FFA Alumni Association, the American Farm Heritage Museum in Greenville and Moose Lodge 1516. He was a member of the Taylorville Rifle and Pistol Club and a lifetime member of the NRA. Mike enjoyed riding his Harley and was a member of ABATE. He was also a huge NASCAR fan and enjoyed the time he spent camping with his family.

Mike is survived by his wife: Judy Welge of Taylorville; son: James Michael Welge Jr. of Taylorville; grandson: Eric Russell Welge; brother: Mark Welge (Cheryl) of Irving. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Ray Y Welge Jr., Ada P. Hall, and Gerald L. Welge.

Maryann Coonrod, 81 of Morrisonville passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 3:10 p.m. at her residence in Morrisonville. She was born on January 27, 1936 in Jerseyville, IL the Daughter of Harry R. and Lorraina (Trent) Craig. She married Hubert L. “Shorty” Coonrod on March 2, 1953 in Carrolton, IL and he preceded her in death on October 21, 2016. She worked as a nurse at St. Vincent’s Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL and she later retired as a homemaker.

Robert J. “Bobby” Swiney, 47, of Taylorville passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born on June 12, 1969 in Taylorville, the son of Donald H “Pete” and Teresa (Stout/Timmerman) Swiney. Bobby graduated from Taylorville High School in 1987 where he played in the band and from Eastern Illinois University with a double major in Political Science and Journalism. In 1995 he earned his Law Degree from Oklahoma City University and was admitted into the Bar in November of that year. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 2120 in Taylorville and American Legion, Edwin Corpin Post 905 in Kincaid, and the Illinois Bar Association. In high school Bobby worked at Lakeshore Golf Course. He worked as the Public Defender in Shelby County, Conflict Public Defender in Christian County, had his own private law practice and performed legal work for collection firms.

Donald Dean Zimmerman, age 81, Harvel farmer passed away at 8:34 AM on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Hillsboro on November 22, 1935, the son of William Keiser and Kathryn (Barkema) Zimmerman. He married Martha Rosenberger on December 27, 1959 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

He graduated from Raymond High School in 1953. He attended Iowa State College for two years where he was a member of FarmHouse Fraternity. He transferred to the University of Illinois where he earned a B.S. Degree in General Agriculture in 1957. Following his graduation, he served in the US Army Medical Corp with six months of active duty and six years as a reservist, after which he returned to the farm.

He served 27 years as a director of the Morrisonville Farmer’s Coop, King Township Trustee, and a long time commissioner for Union Drainage District #2 formed by his great grandfather. He was the Farm Manager for Kilton Farms, Inc. for 23 years and was a member of American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. In 1981, he was named a Master Farmer by Prairie Farmer Magazine. His farming operation included both grain and livestock.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Taylorville and served the church in many capacities, being most proud of his service as a member of the Board of Trustees and chairman of that group for several years. Don served as a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Vincent Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Advisory Board of The Wesley Foundation at the University of Illinois. He loved to travel and enjoyed his family and especially his two grandchildren.. He liked to say his hobby was “work” and he was an avid reader..

He is survived by his wife, Martha; son, Christopher K. (wife, Christina); two grandchildren, Mallory Hope and Grant William; brother, Roger W. (wife, Mary) of East Otis, MA; brother in law and sister in law, Don and Harriett Ellen Koch of Mt. Vernon, IL; two nieces, two nephews and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John William Zimmerman; sister, Faith Marie Zimmerman; cousin, George Barkema who was reared in the Zimmerman home.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville. Burial will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 9:30 AM at the Harvel Cemetery in Harvel, with procession leaving at 9:15 AM from the Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville. Marion Forbes, 89 of Edinburg passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 3:10 p.m. at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville. She was born on August 20, 1927 in Standard City, IL the Daughter of John D. and Margaret (Cowie) McMillan. She married John Lewis Forbes on December 22, 1949 in Springfield, IL and he preceded her in death on October 8, 2015. Marion worked as a school teacher most recently teaching GED in Sangamon County and she was a member of Davis Memorial Christian Church.

Surviving are her Daughters: Susan (James) Matthew of Alachua, FL; Sally (Steven) Weiss of Mansfield, IL; Sandy (David) Hendricks of Taylorville, IL; Son: John Scott (Katrina) Forbes of Franklin, IN; Grandchildren: Amy (David) Jackson; Jennifer (Erik) Johnson; Lenore (Bruno) Matthew; Danielle (Timothy) Matthew; John Christopher Forbes; Amanda Tedley; Kimberlie (Sal) Flauto; Randi (Matt) Sutter; Stuart (Sheena) Weiss; Erika Weiss; Elyse Hendricks (Kris Ford); Erynn Hendricks (Fiancé Ryan Trott); Ethan Hendricks; Great-Grandchildren: Branith Forbes, Lori Weiss, Kelly Weiss, Gabriel Sutter, Isabella Flauto, Oliva Flauto, Aubrey Sutter, Markus Johnson, Isabella Sweeney, and Caroline Ford; Sister: Katherine O’Connor; Brother: John S. McMillan; Several Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Sisters: Margaret McMillan, Mary McMillan Long, Brother William McMillan and Sister-in-Law: Germaine Katherine “Kay” Elliot.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Bill Kerns officiating. Burial will be held in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

Charles Burke age 74, New Berlin, IL, passed away on April 29, 2017 at Symphony of Decatur. He was born on Aug. 13, 1942, the son of Bernard and Mary Bible Burke.

He worked as a coal miner at Crown II before retiring. He was a member of the UMWA.

A daughter Karen Zamboni of Henderson, NV, and son, Kevin (Irina) Burke of Dunbarton, New Hampshire, survives him. Also surviving are his grandchildren Pavel, Katrina, and Nicholas. Besides his parents a brother and a sister preceded him in death.

Memorials in Charles’s name can be left to St. Martins Cemetery.

Fr. Bunse will officiate the Funeral services, which will be held on Saturday May 6 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Visitation will be held 1 hr prior to the time of service. Burial will be held at St. Martins Cemetery.
