Henry Marshall Wicks, 70 of Taylorville, formerly of Assumption, died at 10:40 a.m., Tuesday, July 30, 2019 in his home. Henry was born on August 19, 1948 in Benton, the son of Marvin and Ethel Lillian (Phares) Wicks. He married Dolores Slifer on February 10, 1973 in Taylorville, and they enjoyed many years together until she preceded him in death in February of 2012. He worked as a laborer for most of his life and was a member of the Central Illinois Labor Union Local 159 out of Decatur. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, being outdoors, and fishing. Henry was ornery and had a contagious laugh and loved making others laugh. He had a fun spirit and will truly be missed.

Henry is survived by his son, Jeremy Wicks of Taylorville; grandsons: Jacob Wicks and Jesse Wicks of Pana, Hayden Klespitz of Mahomet, Ryker Wicks and Zeth Price of Taylorville; to great grandsons: Kyson Wicks & Kohen Wicks of Pana; sisters: Phyllis (Mike) Shafer of California; Kathleen (Ron) Beasley of California; brothers: Danny Wicks of Kincaid; Stan Wicks of Missouri; nieces and nephews: June (Robert) Brock, Charlene Wise, Tom (Sabrina) Stone, Todd Winn, Stevie (Michelle) Vandeveer, Michelle (Paul) Spandiary, as well as many more nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and many cousins. Henry is also survived by a close family friend, Jacki Wicks-Watkins of Taylorville, and too many more beloved friends to mention.

In addition to his wife, Henry was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Kenny Wicks, Marvin Wicks, Diane Vandeveer, and Georgia Wicks. 

A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at McClure Funeral Home, with from 4:00 p.m. until the time of his service at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Stan Pratt officiating. Dorothy “Maxine” Bramel, 79, of Mt. Auburn passed away on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 3:07 p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL. She was born on April 5, 1940 in Roby, IL the daughter of Bud and Laura (Powers) Ealey. She married Don Henderson and he preceded her in death. She then married Frank Bramel on February 14, 1965 in Mt. Auburn, IL. Maxine loved to quilt, knit, crochet and gift her creations to friends and family. She served on the funeral dinner committee in Mt. Auburn and was a member of the Mt. Auburn Church of Christ.

 
She is survived by her Husband: Frank Bramel of Mt. Auburn, IL; Daughter: Darla (Mark) Cochran of Blue Mound, IL; Son: Don (Susan) Henderson of Mt. Auburn, IL; Grandchildren: Cody Henderson, Libby Campbell and Rhilee Cochran; Great-Granddaughter: Brynlee Maxine Campbell, Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, first Husband and thirteen siblings.  

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Auburn Church of Christ in Mt. Auburn. Memorial Service will follow the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Jessie Gertrude Pulley, 75 of Taylorville, passed away at 8:20a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019 in her home, surrounded by her family.  She was born on May 27, 1944 in Aurora, Illinois, the daughter of David L. and Gertrude (Newberry) Barrows. She married William Henry Pulley on June 15, 1968 in East St. Louis, Illinois. Mrs. Pulley was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her yard, refinishing furniture, and playing Bingo.  She was a talented crocheter having made countless pieces including many baby blankets.  She held a special place in her heart for the many dogs she cared for throughout the years.  
She is survived by her husband: Bill Pulley of Taylorville; daughters: Debbie L. Gosnell (Jeffery) of Carlinville and Cindy Hendricks (Roy) of Taylorville; grandchildren: Amy Nation (Tyler), Holden Nagle, T.J. Gosnell, Emma Gosnell, and Anton Gosnell; great granddaughter: Avery Nation; siblings: Dotti Luchtefeld (Jim) of Belleville, Marilyn Skinner (Jim) of Morrisonville, and Pete Barrows of Taylorville; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and grandchildren: Sylvia Forrest Nagle, Joshua Gosnell, and Caleb Gosnell.  

A funeral service for Jessie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at McClure Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Wolfe officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Shirley Marie Bates McWard, 92, of Owaneco, passed away Friday, July 26 2019 at Life’s Journey Senior Living in Taylorville. She was born on October 28, 1926 in Taylorville, the daughter of Oliver C. and Harriett (DeBarr) Bates of Owaneco. She married Donald McWard on June 7, 1959 in the Owaneco United Methodist Church. Shirley graduated from Taylorville High School (1944) and Millikin University (1949) and was a registered Medical Technologist before working on the family farm.  She was especially proud of her Shorthorn cattle and Morgan horses. She was a member of Eastern Star and White Shrine (70 year member), Christian County Lady Landowners, Christian County Purebred Beef Breeders’ Association, Peter Meyer Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution (30 year member), Christian County Genealogical Society and Christian County Historical Society.  Shirley was also active in Home Extension, 4-H and the Master Gardener program.  

She is survived by her husband, Donald; Children: Marie (Patrick Kapustka), Cheryl, Dean (Venise DeVore) and Christine (Jaime Alban); Grandchildren:  Alex Kapustka, Kevin Kapustka, Claire Kapustka, Jacob McWard, Sophia Alban and Sam Alban; along with nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Oliver Bates.

Ronald E. Whitlow, 80, of Taylorville, IL, passed away at 9:37 p.m., on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. Ronald was born May 18, 1939 in Tovey, IL, the son of Cecil and Sue (Connerly) Whitlow.  He married Marie Clements on December 31, 1965 at Davis Memorial Christian Church in Taylorville, IL. Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  Upon returning from his service to our nation, he was a coal miner for Peabody #10 for 24 years, and went on to own and operate Whitlow Septic Service from 1991 until his retirement.  Ronald was a member of Davis Memorial Christian Church.  He enjoyed camping, a “nice fire”, throwing horseshoes, shooting pool, and boating.  Most of all, Ronald enjoyed his time spent with family, especially the grandkids and great grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronnie G. Whitlow; and brothers, Gary and Phil Whitlow.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Marie Whitlow of Taylorville, IL; daughter, Rhonda M. Whitlow of Taylorville, IL; son, Robert L. (wife, Amy D.) Whitlow of Taylorville, IL; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Faye (husband, Chuck) Clark of Oak Lawn, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Kirby Lee Harris, 73, of Taylorville died unexpectantly on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  He was born on January 10, 1946 in Stanford, Kentucky, the son of Lloyd and Ella Mae (Simpson) Harris.  He married Mary Lou Shanks on June 16, 2001 at their home in rural Taylorville.  Kirby was owner and operator of H & H Services and Hamel Crane Service.  Kirby had a passion for cars, especially the Mustangs that he collected and restored.  Whether it was hunting, fishing, or caring for his horses, Kirby loved the outdoors.  He loved being at home, a retreat that he personally built from the ground up.  Kirby was known as a problem solver, no matter what needed to be done, he could find a solution.  He loved his daily visits at the coffee shop and never knew a stranger.  He loved music, especially country, as well as watching westerns and was a fan of NASCAR racing.  Kirby had a love for animals, not only his horses, but many dogs throughout the years.  Above all he loved his family and spending time with them.  He was looking forward to being baptized in the pond at his home, that he constructed, surrounded by his family and the Old Stonington Baptist Church family.

Mary Agnes DeMichael-Blakeman, 83, of Taylorville, formerly of Stonington, passed away at 1:31a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  She was born on October 30, 1935 in Taylorville, the daughter of Florian J. “Flindy” and Theresa M. (Stork) DeMichael.  She married Donald Blakeman on June 27, 1959 in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington and they recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.  Mary attended Millikin University and the University of Illinois and worked at the Signal Depot in Decatur before teaching for several years in Stonington.  Later she worked as the office manager for the City of Stonington for many years.  She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she was active in many areas including serving as lector, eucharistic minister, teaching catechism and faithfully praying the Rosary.  Mary enjoyed reading, sewing, and could cook the best food you have ever tasted.  She spent countless hours around the kitchen table with her family and friends telling stories, playing cards and games, and sharing a large meal.  She enjoyed taking road trips, fishing, playing Bingo, and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.  More than all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.  In Mary’s words: “It was great fun. I love you all!”        
She is survived by her husband: Donald Blakeman of Taylorville; children: John F. Blakeman (Shannon) of Taylorville, Joseph Blakeman of Springfield, Michael Blakeman (Denise) of Taylorville, Daniel Blakeman of Stonington, Thomas Blakeman of Taylorville, and Mary “Missy” Wemhoener (Todd) of Belleville;  grandchildren: Lauren Blakeman, John R. Blakeman, Katie Wemhoener, Dustin Blome, Aaron Blome, and Ashley Kochniarczyk; several great grandchildren; siblings: Joseph DeMichael (Sue) of Columbia, South Carolina, and Ann DeMichael and Martha DeMichael both of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Rita Staton and Therese DeMichael and infant daughter: Margaret.

Lillian Wilson-Young, 90 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 7:16 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL. She was born on August 16, 1928 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of John and Anna (Delinsky) Wilson. She married Alvin L. Young on July 4, 1946 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville, IL and he preceded her in death on October 11, 2005. Lil loved her family and she was a good friend to everyone.

She is survived by her Son: Terry Young of Taylorville, IL; Sisters: Joann Bassana; Barbara Radzmanowski; Brother-in-Law: Bill Radzimanowski; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband and Brother-in-Law: Chester Bassana.

James T. Norris, 90 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 6:25 a.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on May 12, 1929 in May Township in Illinois the son of Thomas and Anna Cecilia (Loreth) Norris. Jim never married but was blessed with a loving family and many friends. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a 60-year member of the VFW Post # 4495 in Taylorville. Jim was a graduate of Taylorville High School class of 1947. He served in the United States Army receiving the National Defense Service Metal, Army of Occupation Metal (Germany) and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a candidate for Christian County Sheriff in 1958. Jim was an antique & collectible dealer at Karla’s Collectibles “Dutch Mill” for nearly 25 years retiring from his loved hobby in his late 80’s. Jim was an avid Nascar fan and an avid Bingo player. Jim and his brother Joe could be found at Bingo halls several times a week. In later years Jim continued playing Bingo with his nieces and Nephews. Jim had an impeccable memory, was said to be able to add figures in his head faster than you could use a calculator. He kept up on current events and the markets right up to his passing.

He is survived by his brother: George (Evelyn) Norris of Taylorville, IL; nieces and nephews: Mary Crawford of Taylorville, IL; Robert (Laura) Oyler of Taylorville, IL; Anne (Garrett) Yocum of Geary, OK; David (Penny) Oyler of Baytown, TX; Teresa (Joe) Nolan of Taylorville, IL; Margaret (Charlie) Burgener of Taylorville, IL; Elizabeth (Brian) Hile of Taylorville, IL; Debbie Norris of Taylorville, IL; Susan (Steve) Curtin of Stonington, IL; Lisa (Steve) Falica of Taylorville, IL and several great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law: Helen (Bob) Oyler, brother: Joseph T. Norris, nephew: Greg E. Norris and great-great- niece Lia M. Bertolino.

LeRoy B. Shelton, 75 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 4:45 p.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on June 11, 1944 in Hillsboro, IL the son of William and Anita (Striegal) Shelton. He married Glenda Jean Ryan on August 11, 1971 in Taylorville, IL and she preceded him in death on May 5, 2003. LeRoy Worked as a coal miner at Peabody Mine #10 and he was a member of the United Mine workers of America. He was a former member of the Taylorville American Legion and the Eagles Club.

He is survived by his Children: Robert (Toni) Germann of Leesville, LA; Jeffrey Germann of Springfield, MO; Scott (Tanja) Flemming of Morrisonville, IL; Eldon “Butch” Shelton of Milan, MI; Tracie Cook and companion Michael Antonacci of Taylorville, IL; Jacqueline “Nikki: Brasche and Fiancé Aaron Richards of Taylorville, IL; Connie Anderson of Beardstown, IL; Twenty one Grandchildren; Seventeen Great-Grandchildren; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Dale C. “Chuck” Bonacorsi, 79 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 6:35 p.m. at Timberlake Estates Senior Living Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on April 17, 1940 in Taylorville, IL the son of Anselmo A. and Nora I. (Bruder) Bonacorsi. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, Wii Bowling, Cardinals, Bears, Illini Football, Cruising with Sharon Cagle, Outings with friends at Timberlake and attending West Side Christian Church.

He is survived by his Sons: Dale L. (Lisa) Bonacorsi of Rochester, IL; Jeff C. Rodney Allen Aten, 41 of Taylorville, passed away at 9:41p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital E.R.  He was born on October 14, 1977 in Decatur, the son of Ronald Aten and Mary Ann (Ansell) Aten.  Rodney was known as a wild-spirit, with a heart of gold, always willing to help out a friend or family member.  He had a passion for climbing trees and enjoyed fishing.  He enjoyed working with his hands building projects and working on small engines.  Above all, he loved his children and cherished the time he spent with them.  

He is survived by his children: Rilley Aten and Reiss Aten of Mascoutah, and Isaiah Aten and Myleigh Aten of Taylorville; father: Ronald Aten (Rita) of Taylorville; sister: Tammy Vandenbergh of Taylorville; brother: Robert Aten of Taylorville; niece: Autum Vandenbergh; and nephews: Drake Aten and Quentin Wooten.  He was preceded in death by his mother: Mary Aten and infant brother: Ricky Aten.

Rodney will be cremated and the family with host a celebration of his life at a later date.

Waneta M. Durbin, 91 of Springfield, passed away at 8:55p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  She was born on April 29, 1928 in Taylorville, the daughter of Clifford and Helen (Stroud) Pearson.  She married Andrew “Bill” Durbin on November 23, 1946 in Taylorville and he preceded her in death on March 20, 1989. Waneta worked for the Illinois Secretary of State for over 25 years where she retired as a clerk.  She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Chatham.  Waneta enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, old westerns and solving word puzzles.  She loved taking photographs with her Polaroid camera and did so for many years until replacement film became unavailable.  More than anything she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

She is survived by her daughter: Ruby Durbin of Springfield; sister: Mabel McConnell of Taylorville; daughter-in-law: Trudy Durbin of Springfield; grandchildren: Chris Woodside (Candace) of St. Charles, Missouri, Aaron Broida (Carrie) of Springfield, Jason Broida (Kristie) of St. Peters, Missouri, Eric Broida (Ellen) of Litchfield, Ginny Anders (Shaun) of Springfield, and Cory Jobe of Atlanta, Georgia; great grandchildren: Summer Woodside, Christian Bradley, Cade Woodside, Samantha Woodside, Baylen Jobe, Atticus Anders, Archer Anders, Tinley Anders, Emily Broida, Jasmine Broida, Ashley Broida, Abby Broida, Julia Broida, and Gage Broida; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Gerald Durbin, 2 sisters and 1 brother.  

The funeral service for Waneta will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Fr. John Nolan officiating.  Burial will take place at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville.  Visitation will be held from 10a.m. until 11a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Edward Andrew Heberling, 98 of Taylorville, passed away at 5:11a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  He was born on July 8, 1921 in Greenwood Township, Christian County, the son of Henry Curtis and Alberta Estella “Bertie” (Elliott) Heberling, the 3rd of 6 children.  Ed had a strong work ethic from an early age, working as a farm hand after school and on weekend.  When he was 15, he quit school and went to work full time in a local foundry to help support his family. When he was 18, he met the love of his life, Mary, and they dated until he was drafted into the Army during World War II.  Ed fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was honorable discharged on May 31, 1946.  Upon his return home, he married Mary Elizabeth Hill on September 21, 1946 in Taylorville and she preceded him in death on March 30, 2017.  Ed was a man of his word and always willing to lend a helping hand to those that needed it.  Because of his boss’s outstanding recommendations and references, Ed was able to rent his first farm south of Taylorville.  On January 1, 1948 Ed and Mary moved to the farm where they stayed until his retirement in 1993.  He was a member of the Morrisonville Masonic Lodge.  Ed and Mary were inseparable, whether it was milking the herd of Guernsey cows, raising Duroc hogs, or bringing in the harvest, they always worked together. Mary and Ed enjoyed watching 3 generations of kids exhibit livestock at various fairs throughout the years and attended many performances at Nashville North.  Most of all, they loved and adored all of their grandchildren.   

He is survived by his sons: Edwin Eugene “Gene” (Carol) Heberling of rural Taylorville, Robert Dale “Rob” (Kathy) Heberling of Taylorville, and Marion Lee “Punk”(Jodi) Heberling of Owaneco; 10 grandchildren: Holly Lomprez of Taylorville, Christopher (Amy) Heberling of Waynesville, Missouri, Andy Heberling (Narcie Rogers) of Palmer, Wendy (Shannon) Snow of Lima, Ohio, Jennifer (Billie) Heberling of Taylorville, Eddie (Laura) Heberling of Longden, Utah, Beth (Jeremy) Piatt of Taylorville, Robert Edward “Ward” Heberling (Carla Tan) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mathew Heberling of Owaneco, and Amy Heberling of Bellevue, Nebraska; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters: Anna Lou Yoho of Springfield and Grace Greffe of Taylorville; brother: Leroy Heberling of Taylorville; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson: Gabriel Alan Heberling; great granddaughter: Jessica Kettlekamp; sister: Nellie Vitali; and brother: Jordan Heberling.

The visitation for Ed will be held from 5 until 7p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2019 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville.  The funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev James Jones officiating.  Burial with military graveside rites will take place at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville.

Mary Agnes Kennedy, 99, of Taylorville passed away at 6:45a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Taylorville Care Center.  She was born on December 11, 1919 in Coles County, Illinois, the daughter of James and Mary Agnes (O’Donnell) Sullivan.  She married Samuel F.  Kennedy on February 16, 1939 and he preceded her in death on November 2, 2001.  Mary was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America.  She also was active with the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary as well as the VFW Auxiliary where she served as the first president and delivered meals-on-wheels in Taylorville.  Mary was an avid golfer and 4-time Ladies City Golf Champion and had a hole-in-one to her credit.  When she was younger, she competed in the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair typing competition and also received a lifetime scholarship to Eastern Illinois University for her academic achievements.  More than anything she was proud of her 7 children she raised as well as her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

She is survived by her children: Mike Kennedy (Helen) of Taylorville, Deborah Kennedy-Payne (Robert) of Atlanta, Georgia, Joseph Kennedy (Patrice) of Sarasota, Florida, Molly Kennedy of Springfield, Martie Lieberman of Sarasota, Florida, and Colleen Kennedy-Jacobs (Terry Longdon) of Taylorville; grandchildren: John Dukes, Lisa Tarr (Blake), Ashley Logsdon (Todd), Nathan Fye, Sarah Adams (Chris), Gianna Kennedy, Karli Kennedy (Jesse Mathews), Meghan Reese, Bryan Tippy (Kelly Thompson), and Ryan Kennedy (Laura Falat); several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; son-in-law: David Dukes; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Samara Kennedy Dukes; grandson: Andy Jacobs; sister: Virginia “Ginger” Negley; and brothers: Andrew Sullivan, James Sullivan, and Don Sullivan.

Mary was a very devout Catholic lady who also possessed a great sense of humor and loved to have fun with her family and friends.  She especially enjoyed sports like golf and basketball (Go Illini!).  She loved puzzles, solitaire, bridge, and was an avid reader.  Mary was an excellent cook. Her homemade noodles, ice cream and specialty cakes were amongst the family favorites.

The funeral service for Mary will be held at 11:30a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at McClure Funeral Home with Monsignor David Lantz officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Following the service, she will be cremated, and inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Clay Durham, 93 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 5:28 p.m. in his home in Taylorville. He was born on February 10, 1926 in Taylorville, IL the Son of Julius and Floy (Cook) Durham. He married Betty Jean Ward on September 27, 1946 in Taylorville, IL and she preceded him in death on September 9, 2018. He was a retired postal worker and a veteran of WWII in the United States Navy serving on the LST 1040 in the Pacific China Sea and Yangtze River.

Surviving are his Son: Ted (Bev) Durham of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Anji Durham of Springfield, IL; Lisa (Adam) Reeter of Taylorville, IL; Aaron Durham of Taylorville, IL; Christopher (Frankie) Durham of Pana; Kenton (Chelsie) Durham of Ohlman, IL; Fifteen Great-Grandchildren; One Great-Great-Grandchild; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Son: Thomas R. Durham, Brother and sister-in-Law: Russell “Rusty” (Janiece) Durham; Brother: James Durham and Sisters: Rosalie Weiman and Laurel Quaid.

Joan Bollinger, 90, of Stonington passed away surrounded by her family and friends at 8:25 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Life’s Journey Senior Living in Taylorville.  She was born on May 27, 1929 in Sicily, Illinois, the daughter of Ernest “Fritz” and Lela Blanche (Batty) Thein.  She married Merle Bradley Bollinger on January 3, 1948 at the Stonington United Methodist Church.  Brad preceded her in death on May 24, 2008.  Joan was a very active member of the Stonington United Methodist Church where she served in many areas including teaching Sunday school and helping provide funeral dinners.  Joan believed in leading an active life, no matter if it was mowing the yard, line dancing with friends, exercising at the YMCA, or her yearly jump into the pool with her grandchildren.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed her time at the Stonington Library.  She loved to cook and entertain her friends and family.  She spent many years coordinating fundraising drives in her neighborhood for the American Cancer Society.  

She is survived by her children: Tim Bollinger (Jean) of Stonington and Andrea Bach (Brian) of Taylorville; grandchildren: Nicholas James (Rebecca Bolte) and Matthew Lynch both of St. Louis, Missouri, Laurel Patrick of Chicago, Brett Bollinger of Denver, Colorado, Suzanne Strle (Johnny) of Nashville, Tennessee, Meredith Bollinger of Chatham, Claire Nolan of Columbia, Missouri, and Wyatt Bollinger of Champaign; great grandchild: Tesla Bolte; son-in-law: Joe Hunt of Phoenix, Arizona; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter: Christina “Beth” Hunt; and sisters: Marj Merris (Gene) and Jean Burton (Bill).

Mary Jo Dobyns, 84, of Taylorville passed away at 4:33 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  She was born on May 17, 1935 in Searcy, Arkansas, the daughter of Floyd and Clister (Greer) Grissom.  She married Boyce E. Dobyns on February 21, 1953 in Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on September 20, 2000.  Mary attended Harding University where she and Boyce met.  They owned and operated S&W pest control in Taylorville for many years.  Mary was a long-time, active member of the Taylorville Christian Church where she served in many roles and was also involved in the founding of Vision Way Christian School.  Over the years she was active in many groups such as her bridge club and sorority group and she loved to read.  Mary and Boyce were avid boaters and enjoyed racing.  Traveling was a passion for the family, having traveled across the United States in their RV and being active in the Family Motor Coach Association.  Mary was a caregiver from the time she was very young, having assisted in raising of several family members including siblings, her children, and grandchildren.  

She is survived by her son: Joseph Dobyns (Danielle) of Edinburg; grandchildren: Chelsey Stout (Caleb Sitton) of Springfield, Jordan Stout of Cape Coral, Florida, Courtney Musgrove of Taylorville, Joey Lynn Dobyns and Elliott Elizabeth Dobyns both of Edinburg; great grandchild: Cayden Sitton; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter: Gina K Dobyns-Musgrove.

Baby Leo James King, too sweet for this world, was born with his angel wings at 10:58 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. He weighed 5 pounds 13 ounces, was 20 inches long, and had a full head of dark curly hair. He spent just over 37 weeks listening to his mother’s heartbeat, his father’s singing, and his sister’s giggles before he was called home too soon.

Leo will be forever remembered by his parents, Staci and Dakota King, his big sister: Farah King, all of Stonington; Paternal Grandparents: Paul and Darlene King of Stonington; Maternal Grandmother: Tammy (partner Mark Coffey) Scott, Maternal Grandfather: Robert Scott, all of Taylorville; Maternal Great Grandfather, Robert Scott Sr.; Paternal Great Grandmother: Sheila Dudra; Aunts and Uncles: Paul King, Lacey & Randy Jones, Zach King, Bobby Scott, and April & Dee Owens; Eight Cousins: Harper Scott, Allyson Scott, Jaclyn Scott, Michael Scott, Madison King, Laila King, Annalise King, and Lily Jones; as well as several extended family members. Star was born on September 29, 1922, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Carl and Mabel Pearl (Bottrell) Drysdale.  She was a 1940 graduate of Blue Mound High School and attended Sparks Business College in Shelbyville, IL.  Star and Paul Halbrook were united in holy matrimony on January 16, 1943 in Decatur, IL and were blessed with 65 wonderful years before his passing on January 5, 2008.  Star was a homemaker who cherished her time at home raising their family.  She was an active member of the Tower Hill United Methodist Church for many, many years and enjoyed playing bingo.  

Surviving are daughter, Pamela J. (Russell) Summers of Decatur, IL; grandchildren:  John Troy (Michelle) Wilson, Joseph (April) Wilson, Benjamin (Hillary) Summers Sr., Angela Halbrook and Andrew Halbrook; 16 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Drysdale and several nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Timothy Halbrook; grandson, Neal Halbrook; three sisters and one brother.

Aimee Sutton, 33 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at 6:45 p.m. at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, IL. She was born on June 24, 1986 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Timothy and Debora (Young) Sutton. Aimee worked as an underwriter for Wells Fargo where she was on the United Way Committee and she was also a member of the Taylorville University Women’s Association.

Even though she was only with us for 33 short years, she lived life to the fullest. Her positivity was infectious, and she was the light in many people’s lives. She never knew a stranger and would always put others first. She was the absolute model of a caring, thoughtful and sweet daughter, granddaughter, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed winning at water volleyball, playing poker, and baking delicious treats for all to enjoy. Above all else, Aimee loved her family and friends and valued every moment she spent with them.

Phyllis June Angelo, 83, formerly of Morrisonville, IL, passed away at 8:35 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2019 in Longwood, FL at her residence.Phyllis was born July 15, 1935 the daughter of Clarence N. and Amy Alice (Jenkins) Smith.  She married Vincent Angelo in Orlando, FL, and he preceded her in death.

Phyllis graduated from Morrisonville High School with the class of 1953.  She went on to be a bookkeeper for many businesses in the Orlando, FL area.  Phyllis also had her own in-home tax preparation business in Florida that she operated for many years.  She enjoyed spending her free time in the outdoors, especially bird watching. Phyllis was a life-long Methodist.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Paul W. Smith; sister, Marian A. Keith; and brother-in-law, LaVerne O. Paulson.

Phyllis is survived by her sister, Carrol N. Paulson of Madison, WI; sister-in-law, Alberta Smith of Morrisonville, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
