Mr. Robert C. Huston, Sr., 84, of Jeisyville, IL. died late Wednesday evening, April 28, 2021 at his home with family near his side.

He was born in Detroit, IL., January 31, 1937 the son of Orville and Edith (Bishop) Huston.  Robert married Mable B. "Bonnie" Ray on April 29, 1954 in Union City, TN.  She preceded him in death March 4, 2004.

Mr. Huston honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957.  He retired from Peabody Mine #10 near Pawnee.  Robert enjoyed: fishing, mushroom hunting, hunting, woodworking, camping, a good cup of coffee, wintering in Texas, spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren.

Surviving are: 2 daughters Bonita (John) Deck of Crossville, TN., Cheryl (Darrel) Moore of Pawnee, IL., 2 sons Robert C. (Crystal) Huston, Jr. of Jeisyville, IL., Shawn (Debbie) Huston of Morrisonville, IL., 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, his companion Dasie McCalister, 2 sisters Carol (Hal) Behrens and Donna Wolfe and 2 brothers Howard Huston and Ronnie (Joyce) Huston along with many nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie, and a significant other Sandra Gilmore of Blue Mound.

Visitation for Mr. Robert C. Huston, Sr. will be held from 5 to 7 P.M. Monday, May 3, 2021 at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Mrs. Sharon Irene Christer, 76, of Kincaid, IL passed from this life at 5:08 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL.

She was born in Kincaid, IL July 6, 1944 the daughter of Marvin and Irene (Behl) O'Dell.  Sharon married Robert Christer on September 5, 1964 in Kincaid, IL and he preceded her in death on June 23, 2010.

Sharon was a member of the Kincaid Baptist Church.  She really enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

David Glee Haynes, 69 of Tovey passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 8:38 a.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on May 20, 1951 in Trimble, TN the son of Willie Newt and Betty Ruth (Morris) Haynes. He married Madonna Graham on June 28, 1976 in Union City, TN and they renewed their vows in June of 2020. He worked as a Machine Operator at R&R in Girard, IL. He loved to ride his motor cycle, on the river run and riding in other charity runs. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He loved working in his yard and on his house.

He is survived by his Wife: Madonna Haynes of Tovey, IL; Daughter: Donna (Steve) Gatons of Taylorville, IL; Son: Christopher (Zokoma) Haynes of Taylorville, IL; Grandchildren: Cody Gatons, Logan Gatons, Madison Gatons, Payton Haynes, Ashlyn Haynes; Brothers: Bill (Mary) Haynes, Jack (Retha) Haynes, Scott Haynes and Bobby Haynes; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Virginia Lynn “Ginny” Lukach, 43 of Taylorville passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 7:55 a.m. at her home in Taylorville, IL. She was born on March 30, 1978 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Frank and Phyllis (Zeiter) Lukach. She worked at Christian County Mental Health Workshop for a short time.

She is survived by her parents Frank and Phyllis Lukach of Taylorville, IL; sisters: Myra Duby, Bobbi (Larison) Droke; brothers: Rik Duby, Mark Duby, David Scott Duby; aunts: Doris Cunitz, Donna Dance, Nancy Beard, and Donna Benton; uncle: Norman (Gloria) Zeiter; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Robert Bucshon, 56, of Kincaid, IL passed from this life Sunday, April 25, 2021 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Robert Bucshon was born June 16, 1964 to parents Andrew and Letha Bucshon. Robert graduated from South Fork High School in Kincaid, Ill. and studied at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and Lincoln Land Community College . Robert is a veteran of two wars and served in the United States Navy for six years.

Later in life, Robert worked as a blackjack dealer in Las Vegas, making many friends and acquaintances across the country. Upon returning home to his family, Robert worked many odd jobs before settling into a proprietary role at South Fork Pub in Kincaid for a short time. Robert is remembered for his humor and helpfulness. He spent most of his time with family, playing pool, golfing, and socializing with his friends at Boones Saloon and other establishments in downtown Springfield.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Letha Bucshon.

He is survived by his aunt, Aleta Kettelkamp; his sister, Susan (Lloyd) Hovey; his nephew, Sean Hovey; his nieces, Morgan (Andy) Graham and Erin (Nick) Schafer; his great-nephew Garrett Schafer; as well as other cousins and relatives. 

Visitation for Mr. Robert Bucshon will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 30, 2021 at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid, IL.  A short memorial service will follow at 1:00.  Burial will take place immediately afterwards at Calvary Cemetery, Pawnee IL with basic military rites by the U. S. Navy. A luncheon will be served following the memorial service at Bart's Place 615 Midland Blvd, Tovey, IL 62570

Mark E. Pearse, 51 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at 4:09 a.m. in rural Taylorville, as a result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born on November 14, 1969 in Hillsboro, IL the son of Larry Pearse and Gloria Barclay. He married Terressa Fox on September 25, 1997 in Stonington, IL. He recently retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections after working there for over 30 years. He also served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. Mark loved to play cards, coach his children’s sports teams, play golf and hunt. His greatest passion in life was spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids.

George Arthur Lumb III, 74 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 6:30 a.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on October 28, 1946 in Springfield, IL the son of George A. (Natalie) Lumb II and Rosemary Yusko. He married Joanne Brown on March 23, 1968 in Taylorville, IL. He was the owner and operator of Lumb Trucking and he was a member of the 40 MPH Club.George loved to travel in his semi. He also loved to collect trains, antiques, and to do puzzles. He enjoyed going to Country Kitchen to have coffee with all of his friends. But most of all he loved buying, selling, and restoring old cars and spending time with all of his family. Anyone who knew him could say that you were never around him without laughing.

Raymond Bock, 74 of Palmer, formerly of Highland Park, died at 7:50 a.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at his home. He was born in Highland Park to George and Louise Bock. He graduated from Highland Park High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. He married Patricia Bock in 1996 in Las Vegas, and she survives. He retired from serving as Foreman of the Public Works Department for the City of Highland Park. He served as Trustee for the Village of Palmer. In his younger years he was a member of the Bocce Ball Club in Highland Park, and in his retirement he loved fishing and reading, and walking his dog, “Loser”.

 

Along with his wife Patricia, Mr. Bock is survived by his son, Karl (Tyneal) Bock of Olney, IL; stepchildren: Amy (Frank) Quirk of Springfield, OH, Daryl VanDyke of Waukegan, and Kelly (Scott) Hensley of Lorraine, OH; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; and sisters: Audrey (Sherman) Andrews and Ruth Blevins; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mr. Bock was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Ann Espinosa, and one brother: George (Joanne) Bock.

Larry E. Dooley, 77, of Stonington, passed away at 9:48am on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Heritage Manor in Pana. He was born on October 27, 1943 in Taylorville, the son of Orville L. and Mabel Lucille (Blakeman) Dooley. He married Nancy Carole Light on April 16, 1966 in the First Baptist Church in Taylorville. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2018. Larry graduated from Stonington High School where he played on the high school basketball team. He served his country in the US Army working on communication systems, a trade he continued throughout his working career. He retired from AT&T where he constructed fiberoptic communication networks. Larry was a member of the Taylorville Christian Church. He was an avid golfer, a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and followed many area high school basketball teams. Most of all he loved his family, and cherished his role as a grandpa, and recently became a great grandfather.

He is survived by his family, son: Rodney Dooley (Trisha) of Atoka, Tennessee and their children Kali (Gabe) Cicero, son Mateo, and Dallas Dooley; daughter: Monica Wamsley (Jon) of Taylorville and their children: Jesse Bertoldo and Cody (Amber)Bertoldo; son: Jason Dooley (Rhea) of Stonington and their children: Lane Dooley, Lydia Dooley, Lillian Dooley, and Luke Dooley; son: Jeremy Dooley (Amber) of Mt. Auburn and their children: Blake Dooley, Clayton Dooley, Jacob Dooley, and Nathan Dooley; brother: Roger (Donna) Dooley of New York; sister: Kay Lynn (Joe) Gano of Colorado; and several nieces and nephews. Mark G. Minnis, 76, of Morrisonville, passed away at 10:16 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Mark was born February 10, 1945 in Taylorville, the son of Lavora “Flint” and Catherine (McQuade) Minnis. He married Yola A. Newman on September 16, 1972 at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville, and they have enjoyed over 48 years of marriage.

Mark graduated from Morrisonville High School with the Class of 1964, and went on to proudly serve our country in the United States Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge, Mark worked for Borg Werner from 1970 until 1981. He then went on to work for St. Maurice School and the Knights of Columbus in Morrisonville as head of maintenance. Mark retired in 2006 from the Sacred Heart Griffin Convent. Throughout his career he owned and operated his own floor cleaning business as well, Minnis Floor Cleaning. Mark was a life-time member of St. Maurice Catholic Church, and a 4^th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus in Morrisonville. Mark was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant son.

Mark is survived by his wife, Yola A. Minnis of Morrisonville; daughters, Tonia (fiancé, Ed Neal) Minnis of Morrisonville, and Catherine Minnis (husband, Jay) Fassero of Kincaid; granddaughters, Kendra (fiancé, Edward Radaker) Johnston of Jacksonville, and Reagan and Lena Fassero of Kincaid; siblings, Philip (wife, Linda) Minnis of Marion, Brian Minnis of Morrisonville, Maureen (companion, Vern Lowis) Dowdy of Palmer, Kurt (wife, Rhonda) Minnis of Morrisonville, and Raymond Minnis of Morrisonville; and several nieces and nephews.

Rene Roger Trudeau Jr., 63 of Kincaid, passed away at 7:10pm on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Illinois. He was born on November 26, 1957 in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Rene married Debra E Britton on December 26, 1981 in Holyoke, Massachusetts. He worked for many years as an over-the-road truck driver for Hogan Transport. Rene was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Papa, as he was affectionately known to family and friends, loved spending time outside, fishing and enjoying the family lake lot. Spending time with family and friends was the highlight of his days, and he never passed up an opportunity to throw a party, no matter the reason. He and his family also enjoyed taking many driving trips together.

Jeanne Marie Pusch, 96 of Taylorville, passed away at 9:18pm on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at her home in Taylorville. She was born on May 27, 1924 in Chicago, the daughter of Theodore W and Marie (Abbott) Anderson. She married Glenn Darrell Pusch on July 3, 1954 in the Grace EUB Church in Chicago, and he preceded her in death on January 30, 2019. Jeanne attended Chicago Teachers College and earned her master’s degree in Mathematics from Loyola University. She taught 4^th grade for several years in Chicago before starting a family. Glenn and Jeanne moved to Taylorville in 1975, where they made their life-long home. Following working from home raising their children, Jeanne went to work for the Sangamon Company for 8 years and also spent time substitute teaching, teaching homebound students, and tutoring. Jeanne was a long-time member of the Taylorville Presbyterian Church, active in many aspects of the church’s ministry including being a member of the choir and bell choir, Presbyterian Women, Outreach Committee chair, Elder, Deacon, and others. She was a member of the St. Vincent Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, active in helping with the gift shop and holiday bazaar. Jeanne and Glenn were very active with the Taylorville Sertoma Club, both serving as President of the organization at different times. She was an avid bridge player and active with the Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

Jeanne had a passion for travel that started when she was 10 years old. As a child, her family attended the Chicago World’s Fair where her interest in travel was sparked. In 1940 her family took a weeks-long trip to the Golden Gate Exposition in California, seeing many of the country’s landmarks and national parks along the way. The following year the family spent time traveling east, to attend the exposition held in New York. She traveled to many destinations in her younger years, and her travels continued when she and Glenn married. Together they traveled the world, embarking on 10 Elder Hostel trips to destinations as far away as New Zealand. Glenn and Jeanne also enjoyed taking many cruises to the Caribbean, the Baltic, and South America. Their last big adventure was celebrated with their entire family, a 2-week cruise exploring the Mediterranean, a memory that will never be forgotten.

Jeanne is survived by her son: Dr. Gordon Pusch of Naperville; daughters: Kathryn "Kathy" Huddleston (Joe) of Little River, South Carolina, and Amy Elizabeth Adler (Dave) of Naperville; grandchildren: Brady Huddleston of Indian Trail, North Carolina and Tanner Beck of Chicago; 2 nieces and 2 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother: Theodore Anderson II.

Mrs. Pusch will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at 11:00am, on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the Taylorville First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael Evanchak officiating. Lee Roy DeLay, 81 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 4:52 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL. He was born on August 8, 1939 in Taylorville, IL the son of Hobert and Agness (Seward) DeLay. He married Beverly Ann Brown on September 18, 1960 in Taylorville, IL and she preceded him in death on June 4, 2009. He worked as an Engineer for Illinois Department of Transportation where he retired in 1995. He was also the Owner of DeLay Land Surveying where he was a Licensed Land Surveyor. Lee Roy was a member of the 40 MPH Club and the Registered Land Surveyors Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on antique cars, going on fishing trips, especially to Bennette Springs, and he was a craftsman in woodworking.

He is survived by his Sons: Brent (Michelle) DeLay of Taylorville, IL; Kent DeLay and Randy Stieren of Palmer, IL; Honorary Son: Danny Quimby of Clinton, IL; Grandchildren: Emilee DeLay of Springfield, IL; Devon DeLay (fiancée Miranda Henson) and Marisa (Jessica) DeLay of Springfield IL; Brother: Francis (Karen) DeLay of Rochester, IL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and Brother: David DeLay.

He was born on June 26, 1943 in Granite City, IL the son of Robert and Myrtle (Graves) Cook. Kenneth married Kay Havera on September 2, 1982 in Clayton, MO. He was a proud father, grandfather and would never pass up the opportunity for a family get together. He had many hobbies, but loved nothing more than to brag on his kids and grandbabies. Ken has always loved the St. Louis Cardinals and wouldn’t miss a chance to listen to them on the radio. He’s had many occupations through the years but his main passion was selling cars. He loved people and putting a smile on their faces. Over the last couple years, Kenneth has been employed at Jachino’s Auto and has truly enjoyed every second of it. It didn’t matter if he sold one or five, he loved being out there by the people.

His favorite of all time was Elvis Presley. In his younger days, some even said he resembled him. Some of his greatest memories were spent playing Bocce ball! He would play any day, any time and in any season. He was always ready for some friendly competition during a bocce tournament. Days before he passed, a friend of his came to visit and asked if he was ready to play….his reply “Lets Go!”

If we remember one thing about Ken, it was that he never knew a stranger. He was always ready to rumble if someone needed a tough guy in their corner. He welcomed everyone with the tightest handshake and a bear hug. We will never forget his hugs.

Roger Gale Patton, 59 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at _____ p.m. at his home in Taylorville, IL. He was born on September 25, 1961 in Pana, IL the son of Robert W. and Peggy D. (Billerman) Patton. He worked as a maintenance man at Meadow Manor Nursing Home for 13 years.

Mary Ellen “Ess” Greenwood, 80, of Taylorville, passed away at 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at her residence.

Mary was born June 14, 1940 in Buckingham, the daughter of Willard and Elvira (Sumner) Essington. She married William “Tom” Greenwood on June 29, 1963 at the Buckingham Methodist Church. They have enjoyed nearly 58 years of marriage.

Mary graduated from Herscher High School with the Class of 1958, and went on to work for Armour Pharmaceutical, in Bourbonnais, for over 35 years. After their retirement, Mary and Tom moved to the Taylorville area.

 Mary loved to spend time with her family. She was a hard worker and had a great sense of humor and quick wit. When she was younger she enjoyed dancing (especially to Ike and Tina Turner Proud Mary), bowling, fishing, cutting the grass on her riding lawn mower, and collecting antiques. She shared many laughs (and sometimes loud disagreements) over lively games of Euchre and Pinochle with her family. She cross-stitched, wrote poems, loved old movies, and still watched General Hospital. She loved animals and always had many pets.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Brittany Blumenthal - Hines; and sisters, Geraldine West and Betty Jean Wilkins.

Mary is survived by her husband, Tom Greenwood of Taylorville; daughters, Cindy (husband, Joe) Blumenthal of Chicago, and Mary Beth (Jason Lindsey) Greenwood of Taylorville; son, Jason (Kelly Lash) Greenwood of Vandalia; sister, Dolores Piggush of Kankakee; and many nieces and nephews.

Haley Anne Shoot, 19 of Taylorville passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 11:04 p.m. as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Taylorville Township, IL. She was born on September 30, 2001 in Mattoon, IL the daughter of Wade Obanion and Ashley Woods. Hailey worked as an associate at Walmart in Taylorville.

Words cannot describe who Haley was, she was a wonderful daughter, best sibling in the world, and the bestest best friend in the world. She was a force to be reckoned with when she was mad, but she was always the most loveable person ever. Haley was a beautiful soul, she touched everyone in her own way, she helped everyone she could and would do anything for anyone she loved. Haley is a legend, she lived as one, and passed as one but, she will always be there in our hearts, our minds, and right next to us everywhere we go. We never have to say goodbye to her because, we will see her again. She will look over us forever until it’s our time to join her, everyone will forever love you.

Carolyn S. "Carely" Winn, 74, of Stonington passed away 3:45 pm, Friday, April 9, 2021, at HSHS St. John's hospital, Springfield, IL.

She was born August 4, 1946 in Taylorville, IL the daughter of Ralph and Evelyn (Moore) Young, of Stonington.

Carolyn was a class of 1964 Stonington High School graduate.

She married Stewart (Stu)Winn, October 1, 1975, in Divernon Illinois, and he preceded her in death on March 25, 2012.

Throughout her life, Carolyn was employed with Allis Chalmers, Horace Mann, Stonington Community Bank (later, Illini Bank), People's Bank and Trust, Prairieland Fertilizer, and Blue Mound State Bank. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and a member of the Stonington American Legion Auxiliary. Carolyn was the Stonington Village Trustee for a time, volunteered at Summerfest, an election judge, and a lifelong, smiling face in the Stonington community.

Carolyn and Stu enjoyed traveling. Visiting Disney World many times, NASCAR races, Vegas, Branson, New York, Mexico, and many other adventures. Dining out often with her forever best friends, Janet, and the late Zeke Bell. Carolyn was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, attending many ballgames with dear friends, Larry and Janet Morrell. Most recently, Carolyn enjoyed attending Bingo around the area, with her cousin, Sandy Brewer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband. She will be dearly missed by her family, and friends.

Zaydin Jon Dudra, 20, of Taylorville, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 as the result of an automobile accident.

Zaydin was born September 25, 2000 in Taylorville, the son of Jessica L. Dudra and Aaron W. Augustine. He graduated from Taylorville High School with the Class of 2019. While in high school, Zaydin worked for Arby’s, and the summer of his graduation he worked for the City of Taylorville Water Department. For the past year, he had been employed at Kroger in Taylorville.

Zaydin was goofy, in the best possible way. He was athletic, playing many sports in his youth, but his favorites were always biking and skateboarding. Zaydin was a shoe aficionado, a bookworm, and a fantastic cook. Most of all, he was the best son, brother, grandson, and friend. Zaydin would do anything for his family and friends. He also loved animals, especially his dogs, Benny and Clyde, and his cat, Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lisa A. Dudra; and many great grandparents.

Zaydin is survived by his mother, Jessica Dudra of Taylorville; father, Aaron Augustine of Taylorville; brother, Kellen Augustine of Taylorville; sister, Kayla Hector of Springfield; maternal grandfather, John Dudra of Taylorville; paternal grandmother, Erica (husband, David) O’Brien of Moweaqua; paternal grandfather, Glenn (wife, Connie) Augustine of Lake Lillian, MN; great grandfather, Ronald D. Augustine of Decatur; uncle, Josh Dudra of Taylorville; great aunts, Crytal Farris of Pana, and Donna Maninfior of Mattoon; great uncle and great aunt, G.J. and Molly Miller of Edwardsville; several other aunts and uncles from the Augustine family; 1 niece; many cousins; and his best friends, Robert, Spencer, David, Robert, Tommy, and Zaylan.

Harold Walter Kolkhorst, 94, of Morrisonville, passed away at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehab.  

Harold was born January 29, 1927 in Harvel, the son of Henry A. and Sophie A. (Backus) Kolkhorst.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.  Harold married Vivian Ruth Anderson on April 30, 1966 in Harvel.  She preceded him in death on April 20, 1998.  He then married Juanita C. Yeaman in May of 2006.  She preceded him in death on January 11, 2012.

Harold worked his entire life as a mechanic, working for Bandy Chevrolet in Raymond, Gilbert Large in Taylorville, and Leitschuh’s Garage in Morrisonville.  He was interested in all things with a motor, and he could fix anything.  In his younger years, Harold enjoyed camping and boating.  He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvel.

Harold is survived by his sister, Louise Boyd of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.  He is also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Wilma Stowell, Esther McNeeley, and Pearl Kolkhorst; and brothers, Earl and Fred Kolkhorst.

A graveside ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021 at Morrisonville Cemetery with Pastor Joseph Nehring officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the United States Department of Defense and American Legion Post #721.  Mr. Kolkhorst will lie in state from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Monday at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 304 Carlin Street, Morrisonville, IL 62546.

Margaret “Peggy” Gilbert-Newberry-Durham, 54 of Taylorville went to heaven on Good Friday, April 2, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. in Springfield, IL. She was born on November 1, 1966 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Albert and Alecia “Jill” (Grimm) Gilbert. She married Kevin Durham on August 13, 2011 in Taylorville, IL. She spent most of her life in Taylorville, she graduated from Taylorville High School in the Class of 1985. Peggy worked at Family Services at the Springfield Youth Center. She loved life and she loved to paint and sing. She had a dog, Faith Ann, whom she loved and adored. She was a member of the Taylorville Eagles Club where she served as Chaplin, Catholic Daughters of America and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. Peggy enjoyed time spent serving meals at the Eagles club and Bingo. Peggy was a Girl Scout from 1^st grade through High School, she and her troop earned first class girl scouts. Peggy had her struggles as we all do; she was in recovery and she talked to her sponsor every night. She loved her family, her pride in life was her Son Zachery R. Newberry and her grandchildren Carter, Abby and Sebastian. She was a daddy’s girl and she would tell you that mom was her best friend. She has joined her savior and her family in heaven. She was dearly loved and will be sadly missed in our hearts.

She leaves her earthly family behind to join her heavenly family. Surviving is her Son: Zachery R. James Curtner, 78 of Live Oak, Florida, formerly of Taylorville, died at 10:35 p.m. on March 28, 2021 at Haven Hospice in Lake City, Florida, after a courageous fight with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, due to Agent Orange. He was born on March 2, 1943 in Sikeston, Missouri, the son of James “Don” Curtner, Sr and Mildred (Jenkens) Curtner. He was a 1961 graduate of Mt. Auburn high School. After graduation, he entered the US Navy. He spent 25 years in the Navy and retired as a Chief Radioman. He was a Bluewater Navy Veteran out of the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for 20 years at Lakeshore Golf Course in Taylorville. His last retirement was top Florida where he worked as a campground volunteer at Osceola National Forest. He received an award for 2,000 hours of volunteer service.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Darlene Webster. He is survived by his wife, Bonita, of Live Oak, that he lovingly called his “beautiful bride”, and his children: Zaron Curtner and Shellie Rose, of Woodbine, Kentucky, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Andy (Donna), of Rochester and a sister, Sandy (Ken) Corby of Rochester, New York, several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as cousins.

Dolores Cameron Daigh, 88 of Normal formerly of Taylorville passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. at The Loft Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Normal, IL. She was born on July 20, 1932 in Springfield, IL the daughter of Arthur Burl and Pauline Anna (Browatski) Cameron. She married James F. Daigh in 1951 in Taylorville and they divorced. She then married Dale Dimmitt in 1980 in Las Vegas, NV. Dolores grew up in Owaneco and Taylorville, she attended Taylorville High School, worked as an X-Ray Technician at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital in Taylorville until 1971, when she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. She recently moved to Bloomington, IL. As a teenager Dolores was in volved in 4-H and in the 1960’s she was a Girl Scout Leader.

She is survived by her daughter: Nancy (Bruce) McKinney of Bloomington, IL; granddaughter: Kathleen McKinney (Chris Wanless), grandniece: Kathleen (Greg) Seelbach and four great-grandnieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Caroline White Speagle, brother: Hugo White, niece: Karen Speagle Painter, grandnephew: Stephen Painter, ex-husband: James Daigh, ex-husband: Dale Dimmitt and Son: Bruce Daigh.

Bernard DeClerck, 91 of Stonington passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at 5:36 p.m. at his home in Stonington, IL. He was born on January 20, 1930 in Assumption, IL the son of John and Mary (Adams) DeClerck. He married Ida Matthews on March 10, 1951 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. He worked as a farmer and as the Stonington Township Road Commissioner.

Lindsay Lyn Skinner, 32, of Taylorville, passed away at 8:34 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2021 surrounded by her family at her parent’s residence.

Lindsay was born May 8, 1988 in Taylorville, the daughter of Bill and Dwanna (Donner) Kelmel. She married Robert “Rob” Skinner on August 28, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church of Taylorville.

Lindsay graduated from Tayloville High School with the Class of 2006. After high school she was employed by CNB Bank & Trust in Taylorville, but found her work family at United Community Bank/BancMac in Springfield.

Lindsay will be remembered as a warrior: A Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer Thriver. Through her Facebook posts, she reached many; advocating and sharing her journey with all. Lindsay had the biggest heart, and she lived for giving and encouraging others. She made a donation every chance she could, and no angel was left behind on a tree. Her passion was her love of everything outdoors. She could be found lounging poolside at her home with family and friends. She loved camping, and the peaceful serenity of a boat ride. Taking a monthly trip to any zoo was a must – the goats being her favorite. Lindsay was a loving and supportive wife, and she devoted her life to her daughter, Madi. She was a beloved Daughter, adored Sister, and cherished Auntie.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Harold Donner; paternal grandparents, Bob and Frances Frost; uncle, Dave Kelmel; cousins, Davina Gebauer and Philip Schwab; and her beloved, furry companion, Max.

Lindsay is survived by her husband, Robert Skinner and their daughter, Madison Kae of Taylorville; parents, Bill and Dwanna Kelmel of Taylorville; sister, Chrissy (husband, Brad) Tellor of Taylorville; grandmother, Beverly Donner of Taylorville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Cheryl Manley of Taylorville; brother-in-law, Bryan (wife, Danyel) Skinner of Festus, MO; nieces, Justice (companion, John Welsh) Tellor and Abigail Fears; nephews, Bryeson Tellor, Chase Tellor, Mason Tellor, Marcus Durbin, and Joey Holems; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Interment will follow the celebration of life at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Mrs. Ruth Ann Wyzard, 72 of Kincaid went to be with our Lord on Saturday April 3, 2021. After a courageous battle with cancer, she passed surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 9, 1948, the daughter of David and Doris Bandy. She married James Wyzard on January 31, 1970 at the Kincaid Church of God.

Throughout her life, Ruth was a loyal and devoted member of the Kincaid Church of God. She taught Sunday school and enjoyed helping the Women’s Ministry with the annual peanut brittle fundraiser. Ruth worked at Consolidated Communications as an assistant chief supervisor, as well as the state of Illinois and finally Taylorville Clinic. And, most importantly, Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family - especially her children and grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 51 years, James. Children: Erica (Shanon) German, Niantic, IL; Jennifer Richards, Taylorville; JT (Katie) Wyzard, Taylorville. Grandchildren: Jett and Elle Richards and Tatum and Meacham Wyzard. Sister: Vickie (Dennis) Baker. Brothers: David (Diane) Bandy and Scott (Kristi) Bandy. Brother-in-law Eric (Mary) Wyzard and Sister-in-law Vanessa (Larry) Gardner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and grandson, Preston. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 9am-11am at the Kincaid Church of God. Richard “Dick” Porter, 76 of Taylorville, passed away at 8:05 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at his daughter’s home in Morrisonville. He was born on October 21, 1944 in Christopher, Illinois, the son of RJ and Camille (Turner) Porter. Dick married Ruth Ann Loepker on July 30, 1966 in Litchfield, and together they truly enjoyed life, their family, and traveling the world. Dick was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge in Taylorville. Dick proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for Caterpillar for 37 years, retiring and enjoying life as soon as he was able. Dick and Ruth toured the country driving or riding their Goldwing motorcycle, and flew wherever wheels couldn’t reach. They both had so much fun playing Blackjack that they enjoyed traveling to play in Las Vegas or Tunica. Dick had a deep love for his wife and his family, and he will be missed deeply.

Dick is survived by his children: Dawn Durbin (Marty) of Morrisonville and Jay Porter (Michelle) of Geneva; grandchildren: Jessie Borgic, Marissa Borgic, Shelby Porter, Sarah Porter, and Amelia Durbin; sister: Barb (Larry) Buckley of Taylorville; and brother: Bob (Leslie) Porter of Auburndale, Florida.

In addition to his wife, Dick was preceded in death by his parents; son: Jeff Porter; and his sister: Bonita Bennett.

Mr. Porter will be cremated and will be laid to rest with his wife at Fraley Cemetery. His family will host a celebration of their lives at a later date. Marjorie “Marge” Brockamp,96, of Morrisonville passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 10:25 PM at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehab.

She was born on August 28, 1924 on her family farm Northwest of Harvel, IL, the daughter of John Lawrence and Lula Mae (Kearns) Langen. She attended Gutharie and Mt. Vernon country schools, and was one of the last surviving graduates of Harvel High School, graduating in 1941. In 1943, she graduated from Springfield Junior College with a degree in business. During college, she worked at the Sangamon Ordnance Plant near Illiopolis, and after college, she worked for the Illinois Department of Public Aid.

On September 14, 1948, she married Leo Brockamp, and together they raised four boys on the family farm south of Morrisonville, and later founded Brockamp Farms, Inc. Over the next six decades, she served her family, church and community in many ways. She volunteered her time towards the Morrisonville American Legion Auxiliary, National Catholic Society of Foresters, Illinois and Mid-State Pork Producers, and St. Maurice Parish having served as the parish secretary. In 2013, she was awarded the Magnificat Award for her service to St. Maurice Parish by Bishop Thomas Paprocki.

In her spare time, Marge was especially talented at organizing and editing local history books. Between 1948 and 2019 she created several dozen scrapbooks of newspaper clippings from the Morrisonville and Panhandle communities featuring weddings, birth announcements, deaths, anniversaries, and other historical events. In 1972, she collaborated with several other individuals to produce the Morrisonville Centennial book. Her other collaborations include the 125-year history book of St. Maurice Parish in 1995, and the 125-year history book of Morrisonville in 1997. In 1998, she and a distant cousin co-authored the Langen-Todt family history book which contains birth, death, and marriage information for nearly 1,500 family members covering 8 generations.

She is survived by her sons, Joe (Bonnie) Brockamp of Springfield, John (Marla) Brockamp and Dale (Kendra) Brockamp both of Morrisonville. Her grandchildren, Beth (Kirk) Petroski, Alex, Kara, and Maria Brockamp, great-granddaughter, Aunna Beranek, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Phil Brockamp, grandson Rob Brockamp, and sisters Mary Lou Langen (infant) and Genevieve (Howard) Wilson.

Visitation: The family will receive guests from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 304 Carlin Street, Morrisonville, IL 62546.

Richard Lee Tirey, 72 of Jeiseyville passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at his home in Jeiseyville, IL. He was born on June 6, 1948 in Taylorville, IL the son of Floyd Leslie and Geneva Marie (Jones) Trey. He married Paulette Summers on July 2, 1967 in Taylorville, IL. He worked as a railroader for Illinois Terminal and Norfolk and Western. Richard served in the United State Army in the 101st Airborne during Vietnam. He was a member of the Kincaid American Legion in Kincaid, IL.  
He is survived by his Wife: Paulette Tirey of Jeiseyville, IL; Daughter: Tessa Tirey of Jeiseyville, IL; Son: Lee Tirey of Decatur, IL; Grandchildren: Olivia and Liliana Tirey; Sisters: Elsie and Anna Marie; Brother: Eddie; Brother-in-Law: Mike (Sharon) Summers; Sisters-in-Law: Deanna (Bud) Dean, Glenna (Larry) Odam, Dottie Lovegrove, Cathy (Brian) Yawn and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Venita A. Jensen, 85 of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 8:08 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL. She was born on May 27, 1935 in Danville, IL the daughter of Durbin and Wilma (McNeese) Ransom. She married Robert Dean Jensen on July 18, 1954 in Danville, IL and he preceded her in death on June 8, 2014. She was a member of the Taylorville Christian Church. Venita loved her flowers and being outside gardening. She had a very outgoing and big personality with many friends. Venita was had a sassy sense of humor that kept everyone on their toes and laughing. She was strong in her faith and when she could no longer attend church, she enjoyed her Christian TV programs. Above all, she was a wonderful mom who loved and lived for her three children.

She is survived by her Daughters: Brenda (Jeff) Bartnicki of Chicago, IL; Sheila Jensen of Taylorville, IL; Son: Greg (Diane) Jensen of Punta Gorda, FL; Grandchildren: Justin and Jarrett Bartnicki, Savanna (Kyle) Las; Great-Grandchildren: Colby and Camdon Las; Brother: Jerry Ransom of Danville, IL; Nephews: Gary (Mary) McNeely, Mike (Karen) McNeely, Paul Michael Bright and Brian Ransom.
