Shirley Jean Barnes of Taylorville

Shirley Jean Barnes, 71, of Taylorville, Il. died at 8:33pm Thursday, July 28, 2011 at her residence. She was born October 22, 1939 in Carlinville, the daughter of George and Dorothy Miller Wills.  She married Gerald Hornbuckle and later married Russell Barnes.  She was a member of the local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Taylorville.  Shirley had worked at Ace Hardware and True Value in Taylorville many years.  She was a talented seamstress, and she loved quilting and gardening. 

She is survived by her husband Russell of Taylorville, 1 son Rick (Vickie) Hornbuckle of St. Louis, MO., and daughter, Cindy Moore of Morrisonville,IL.; 3 step daughters and 2 step sons; 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; 3 sisters Wanda (Jim) Dixon, Frances (Wayne) Strubble and Darlene (Terry) Barclay all of Carlinville; 4 brothers, Charles (Jean Ann) Wills, Donald (Karen) Wills, George Wills, and Lawrence (Bonnie) Wills all of Carlinville.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Taylorville, Il.  There will be no visitation.  Mrs. Barnes was cremated.

Linda Sue Warren of Edinburg

Linda Sue Warren, 67, of Edinburg passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 3:11 a.m. in Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born April 29, 1944 the daughter of Loren and Eva (Wonick) Perry. She married Thomas Warren Sr. on September 25, 1960 in Taylorville. She was a Professional fiscal services for the State board of Education.

She is survived by her Husband Thomas, Son Thomas Delbert Warren Jr. of Plainfield, Daughter Kristy (Jerry) Harvell of Taylorville, Grandchildren Cheryl Casad, Jennifer (Nick) Ketchum, Samantha Harvell, Daniel Warren, Great-Grand Children Gavin and Kyson Ketchum, Brother Gordon (Juanita) Perry of Edinburg, Sisters Barbara Payne, and Brenda Stimac of Edinburg, Several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Brothers Dwight and D.D. Perry.

Funeral Services will be a private family graveside service at a later date. Inurnment will be in Edinburg Cemetery. Rev. Rob Peterson will be the minister.

Walter C. Braeuninger of Pawnee

Walter C. Braeuninger, 88, of Pawnee passed away on July 24, 2011 at 9:20 p.m. at his residence. He was born on July 28, 1922 on the Braeuninger homestead, Pawnee the son of Charles and Lena Klamm Braeuninger. He was a retired farmer. He was born, lived his whole life as a farmer, and died on the family farm. He was the most loving man, who devoted his life to his loving wife, children, extended family, friends, and neighbors. He had a sense of humor that was like no other, and will be deeply missed by all who had the honor and privilege to know and love him. He was a member of the Christian County Farm Bureau, Twist and Twirl Square Dance Club, attended the Taylorville Methodist Church.

He is survived by his Spouce Cleo Braeuninger, Son Denis (Julie) Braeuninger of Pawnee, Daughters Linda Braeuninger of Collinsville, Karen (Lee) Brockelsby of Edinburg, Cheryl (Bill) Davis of Springfield, Grandchildren Kristen (Tim) Mauldin, Kelly (Justin) Thomas, Leslie Brocklesby, Kirt (Alisa) Brocklesby, Abby Brocklesby, Nathan Davis, Justin (Sarah) Murphy, Shannon (David) Fields, Heather Braeuninger and Drake Braeuninger, Great-Grandchildren Clayton Murphy, Madeling Murphy, Nora Fields, Alder Thomas, Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brothers William and Arthur Braeuninger, Sisters Ruth Dawson, Ada Kerber, Mildred Bishop, Great-Grandson Jaxon Murphy.

Visitation will be Wednesday July 27, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Funeral Services will be Thursday July 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Pastor Rebecca Lembke will be the minister. Memorials can be made to Christian County Senior Citizens center in lieu of flowers.

Orville D. Hibbetts of Taylorville

Orville D. Hibbetts, 97, of Taylorville passed away on July 25, 2011 at 10:35 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He was born August 27, 1913 in Taylorville the sond of Frank and Mabel Miller Hibbetts. He married Hilda McConnell December 6, 1936. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church Taylorville.

He is survived by Spouse Hilda, Daughter-In-Law Donna Hibbetts of Tovey, Grandchildren Terri (Keith) Hinrichs of Athens, Bryon (Robin) Hibbetts of Peoria, AZ, Brother Paul Hibbetts of Taylorville, Sister Jean Faulkner of Taylorville, Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Son Duanne, Granddaughter LaDonna Hibbetts, Brother Dale Hibbetts.

Visitation will be Thursday July 28, 2011 from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Funeral service will be Friday July 29, 2011 at 11:00a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Norma Louise Oldakowski of Taylorville

Norma Louise Oldakowski, 79, of Taylorville passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 at 8:03 a.m. at her residence. She was born March 23, 1932 the daughter of George Aaron and Izetta Pearl Crutchfield Tilton. She was married to Alfred John Oldakowski on September 23, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2011. She was a homemaker and worked for Service Master, later she was a CNA at Meadow Manor Nursing Home in Taylorville. She was a High School graduate and a member of the Taylorville Christian Church in Taylorville.

She is survived by Son John Alfred (Rita) Oldakowski of Taylorville, Daughter Karen Leann (Francis) DeLay of Springfield, Grandchildren Marlane (Steve) Miles of Taylorville, Johnny Oldakowski of Chicago, Aaron DeLay of Springfield, and Jacqueline DeLay of Chatham, Great-Grandchildren Airik Phillips, Alison Phillips, and Jackson DeLay, Brothers Ronnie Tilton of Kansas City, MO, Warren Tilton of Tovey, Sister Elleen Barnes of AZ. She was preded in death by her Parents, Brothers Art Tilton, Wayne Tilton and Roy Tilton, Sister Erma Nance.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00p.m., Friday, July 29, 2011 at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Taylorville. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Taylorville. Pastor Philip Neumann will be officiating.

Helen Eva Coffey of Taylorville

Helen Eva Coffey, 94, of Taylorville passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 7:56 p.m. in the Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born September 1, 1916 in Taylorville the daughter of Clyde and Mable (Vancil) Clements. She married Kenneth L. Coffey on August 24, 1935 in Taylorville. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1991. She was a retired homemaker. She was also a member of the Free Methodist Church and W.M.S. She was a 30 year member of the H.E.A.

She is survived by her son Sidney (Linda) Coffey of Taylorvile, daughter-in-law Pat Coffey of Waukee, IA., 6 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren, Sister Shirley (Elmer) Covalesky of Maryville, and Several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents, son Leroy Coffey, daughter Marilyn Rine, Sisters Mildred Bradley, Maxine Brower, Delores Fisher, and Linda Shipley.

Visitation will be from 9am until the time of the service on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Funeral services will be held at 11am Monday, July 25, 2011 at the Sutton Memorial Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cememtery. Rev Dick Wamsley will be officiating.

Dallas F. Longden of Taylorville

Dallas F. Longden, 84, of Taylorville passed away at 4:35 a.m., Saturday July 16, 2011 at Memorial Medical center in Springfield. He was born September 17, 1926 the son of Fred and Gertrude Foraker Longden. On August 27, 1947 he married Elaine Secrest in Taylorville. She preceded him in death on January 4, 2010. He was a retired welder at Georgia Pacific and was a member of the Taylorville First United Methodist Church. He was a Navy Veteran of WW II and a member of the VFW in Taylorville

He is survived by Son Kevin Longden (Tammy) of Nokomis, Daughters Cathy Peden (Dale) of Taylorville, Cinda Smith (Mark) of Springfield, Cheryl Haines (Bob) of Taylorville, 13 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren, Brother Bennie Longden (Betty) Owaneco, Sister Margaret Reed Danni (Gerald) of Springfield, Sister in law Wilma Sheedy of Elsinore Missouri. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Son Gary Longdon, and Grandson Mark Smith.

Visitation will be held form 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday July 19, 2011 at McClure Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. with Sr. Rose McKeown officiating. Nora Marie Hanley of Taylorville

Nora Marie Hanley, 89, of Taylorville passed away at 7:15pm, Thursday July 14, 2011 at Taylorville Care Center. She was born May 17, 1922 in Vandalia Illinois, the daughter of Clifford and Julia Jeffs Hanley. She graduated form the Edith I Heller School of Beautyin in 1941. She worked as a beautician form 1941 until 1949. In 1949 she graduated form the National college for Christian Workers in Kansas City Missouri. She also graduated form Scarritt College for Christian Workers in Nashville, Tennessee in 1975. She was commissioned as a Deaconess in the United Methodist Church in June 1949. She served as an education assistanat at the First United Methodist Church in Kewanee, Illinois and St. James United Methodist Chruch in Danville, Illinois. she served as Director of Iowa National Hall in Des Moines, Iowa, a home for 150 young women. In Lansing Michigan she served as the Director of Christian Education. Nora was a member of the Taylorville First United Methodist Church where she had worked as a Deaconess, Director of Christian Education, and Director of Caring Ministry. She retired in 1987, and continued to remain active in many aspects of the church.

She is survived by her brother Earl R Hanley (Ellen) on Wentsville, Missouri, Nieces Verna Anderson of Moline, IL, Janet Verscheure (Gerald, of Geneseo, Carol Bressner (Tom) of Moweaqua, Judy O'Dell (Larry) of Greenville, Vickie Hutchcraft (David) of Vandalia, Nephews Gary Revis (Dana) of Katy, Texas, Donald Smail (Sharon) of Brownstown, and Dennis Smail of Vandalia, and Jack Hanley, 21 Great Nieces and Nephews, 12 Great Great Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Brothers Calving Hanley, Kenneth Hanley, Samuel Hanley, Sisters Hazel Lindquist, June Revis, Johanna Smail, and one Nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday form 5 until 7 p.m. at McClure Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday July, 19 2011 at the Taylorville First United Methodist church with Gary Revis and Rev. Becky Lembke officiating. Odra Eugene Kirby of Taylorville

Odra Eugene Kirby 77, of Taylorville passed away July 14, 2011 at 9:35 p.m. in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. He was born on July 18, 1933 in Taylorville the son of Theodore and Clara (Peters) Kirby. He married Deanne Hunt in Taylorville on January 27, 1962. He was retired from Georgia Pacific Paper Plant after 45 years of service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and he served during the Korean Conflict. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He loved playing golf and was a former member of the Monday Morning Retired Golf League. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Taylorville.

He is survived by his Wife Deanne, Daughters Michelle (Gerry) Goebel and Debra (R.G.) Yattoni both of Morrisonville, Grandchildren Anthony Yattoni, Hannah Yattoni and Carly Goebel, Sister Harriet Clark of Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his Parents.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 18, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. R. Louise McConnell of Taylorville

R. Louise McConnell, 82, passed away July 14, 2011 at 10:00 am in Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  She was born July 28, 1928 in May Township, Christian County, the daughter of Nathan Rolland & Rosa (Long) Coffey.  She married Robert F. McConnell in August, 1945 in Taylorville.  She was a retired farmer, homemaker and a member of the Red Hat Society. 

She is survived by her husband, sons, Robert (Toni) McConnell Jr. of OK., Gary (Debbie) McConnell of Kincaid, IL., Daniel McConnell of Edinburg, Il., Lyndon (Pam) McConnell of Taylorville; daughters, Sharon (Ron) Sutzer of Chatham, IL. and Mardell McConnell (Companion Penny) of TN.; 13 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild;  and sister, Lucy Neenan of CA.  She was preceded by her parents, brother Hugh Coffey and sister Mary Beck.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 18, 2011 at 10:00 am in Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Rev. Linda Vonck officiating.  Burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery in Stonington.  Visitation will be held Sunday, July 17, 2011 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm in Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Barbara Ann Kennedy of Taylorville

Barbara Ann Kennedy, 74, of Taylorville passed away at 8:43 am, Monday, July 11, 2011 at her residence.  She was born January 2, 1937 in St. Louis, MO., the daughter of Robert and Geraldine Shannan Thomas.  She married Harold Kennedy in November, 1966 in Taylorville.  He passed away on August 17, 2009.  Barb worked as a Radiologic Technologist at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital and Taylorville Memorial Hospital for 50 years.  She was a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and the American Society of Radiography Technology. 

She is survived by her step-son Steve Kennedy of Taylorville; step-daughter Harriet (Lester) Jefferies of Memphis, TN; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Frankie) McEwen of St. Louis, MO. and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Robert Thomas Jr., Authur Thomas and Raymond Thomas.

Graveside services will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at 2 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Visitation will be held from noon until 2:00 pm at McClure Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville with Father Dan Willenborg officiating.

Donald R. Clay of Taylorville

Donald R. Clay, 62, of Kincaid, passed away July 12, 2011 at 6:15 am in Taylorville Memorial Hospital.  He was born August 15, 1948 in Taylorville, Illinois, the son of Estle & Kathryn (Zemke) Clay.  He married Pamela Skinner in July 1970 in Nokomis.  He was a retired coal miner, retiring from Peabody Coal Company, a veteran of the US Navy serving on the USS Mazama, a member of Faith Community Worship Center, Taylorville and American Legion Post #905 in Kincaid. 

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Tracy (Steven) Mann of Kincaid and Tiffany (Tim) McArdle of Taylorville: 4 grandchildren; brothers, Ronald (Kathy) Clay of Taylorville, Gary (Debi) Clay and Jeff Clay both of Springfield, half-brother Michael Callarman of Springfield, sisters, Sharon Clipston of Virginia Beach, VA, Debra (Floyd) Jerome of Enterprise, AL. and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 1:00 pm in Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Rev. Jerry Thorpe officiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.  Visitation will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm in Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.

Alice R. Smith of Mt. Auburn

Alice R. Smith, 80, of Mt. Auburn passed away at 7:50 am Monday, July 11, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital. She was born December 29, 1930 in Mt. Auburn, Il., the daughter of Robert L. & Temperance (McCoy) Copenbarger. She married Bobby R. Smith on August 13, 1949 at Mt. Auburn Church of Christ. She worked in the restaurant business, for the Illinois State Police, the Illinois Department of Revenue, and as an assistant and secretary for the late Dr. Bower of Illiopolis and the late Dr. McClay of Springfield. She was also a Mary Kay consultant for 20 years.

She is survived by her husband, son, Herb (companion Colleen White) Smith of Mt. Auburn, Il., daughters, Peggy (Dave) Lipe of Springfield, Il., Pam Patrick of Taylorville, Il., 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin (Shirley) Copenbarger of Mt. Auburn and Dale (Erma) Copenbarger of Mt. Auburn; sisters, Verna (Clem) Diesen of Effingham and Dorothy Copenbarger of Mt. Auburn, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother and 1 son.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at 10:00 am in Berea Christian Church where the body will lie in state one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Berea Cemetery in Mt. Auburn. Visitation will be Thursday, July 14, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 pm in Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, Il.

Willie Bill Neal Richards of Mattoon

Willie "Bill" Neal Richards, 65, of Mattoon, passed away July 10, 2011 at 5:23 pm in St. John's Hospital in Springfield.  He was born February 22, 1946 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Harry and Mary vanBlaracum Richards.  He married Linda Murphy on June 18, 1982 in Taylorville.  He worked as a mechanic for over 40 years and was the retired owner of Commercial Alignment in Mattoon.  Mr. Richards served in the Army during the Vietnam conflict and was a member of the VFW, Moose, and Eagles in Mattoon.  He enjoyed golfing and fishing.

He is survived by his wife Linda Richards of Mattoon, step daughter, Corinna Hicks, husband Richard of Sullivan; 3 granddaughters, 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Larry (Beverly) Richards Sullivan, Harry Lee (Monica) Richards Decatur and Ray (Kathy) Richards of Taylorville; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11:00 am in McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Rev. Seth Ventress officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10 am until 11 am Wednesday, July 13, 2011.  Mr. Richards will be cremated following the funeral and inurnment will be held at a later date.

Roger McCarty of Taylorville

Roger McCarty 60, of Taylorville passed away July 6, 2011 at his residence. He was born October 10, 1950 in Parma, MO the son of John B. McCarty and Mae Jean McCarty Wettstein. He married Pameila Bough on May 25, 1974 in Assumption. He was an avid fisherman, loving Husband, Father and Brother, loved to work on his 1969 Roadrunner, will be sadly missed by family and friends. He was a member of the Illinois Coalition of Citizens with disabilities and former Stonington City Council Member.

He is survived by Spouse Pameila McCarty of Taylorville, Brothers Ben (Rhonda) McCarty of Buffalo, Terry McCarty of Taylorville, Sisters Alice (Tom) Christenberry of Litchfield, Debbie (Rick) Samson of Taylorville, Donna (Mark) Weaver of Springfield, several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, and daughter Katie McCarty.

Alvin R. Boggs of Pawnee

Alvin R. Boggs, 75, of Pawnee passed away July 2, 2011 at 7:49 a.m. at his residence in Pawnee. He was born June 17th, 1936 in Illiopolis, the son of Arthur Jr. and Florine Shields Boggs. He married Margaret L. Nash on June 1st, 1956 in Edinburg. He was a homebuilder and farmer. He was a member of Grace Memorial Church of Edinburg as well as the Springfield Home Builder’s Association, serving as secretary for many years. He was also the owner of several rental properties, loved farming, and continued farming after he retired from home construction.

 He is survived by his wife, Margaret L. Nash. Sons, Brian and Raymond Boggs of Waverly, David (Stacey) Boggs of Acworth, Georgia. Brother, Quincy (Shari) Boggs of Edinburg. Four Grandchildren, two Step-Grandchildren, one Great-Grandchild and several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Aunt and Uncles.

Visitation is Wednesday July 6th, 2011 from 10-11 A.M. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 6th, 2011 at 11 A.M. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville.
